    Lets talk protein shakes

Pre-op, I used premier protein and ensure, and like them both just fine. Post-op, I discovered Fairlife Core Power and OMG, it's the best thing ever! I discovered it at Wawa, and now I get it from Amazon by the case!
  2. You will be fine!! My insurance expired 12/31 (b/c my employer was changing plans) and I had my surgery on 12/18, and had no problems getting it approved. It would be considered "bad faith" to deny someone who is on COBRA, etc. Best of luck to you!!

    My story begins...

Congratulations on starting your journey!! I'm jealous b/c you are young with great skin! LOL!!! I can't wait to follow your progress, and wish you the best of luck! You've got this!!
  4. Going to echo what others have said about dance workout videos on Youtube! I'm glad there isn't a camera in my house, as I probably look like a deranged version of Sweatin to the Oldies, but it's so much fun and a great workout! I also have some hand weights, and I like to do weights while I watch TV.
  5. Congratulations!!!! Best of luck to you!!!

    New to the process

DO: Take a BEFORE picture!! A lifetime of hiding from cameras, and now I wish I had a before pic for comparison!
  7. Your feelings and thoughts about food are completely normal at this stage!! We all got here because we have an unhealthy relationship with food. I lived on fast food for many years. It was my reward when I had a good day, it was my treat when I had a bad day, etc. I always found a reason why I deserved to binge on junk. I'm only 4 months out from surgery, but am now finding new ways to reward myself. Lately it's been skin care products! LOL!! Sounds silly, but I'm having fun trying new products, and taking the time to do my morning and evening skin care routine. Once COVID19 is over, I plan on treating myself to a new hairstyle and teeth whitening too! Hang in there! We have all been there, and we are all in this together!

    Liquid Diet

Hang in there!! Just keep thinking about your surgery date and the new start of the rest of your life! I lost 12 lbs on the liquid diet, which was a great jump start too!

    Any new surgery dates yet?

Woo Hoo!!! I'm so excited for you!!
  10. I love seeing your pics on the OOTD thread!! I can't wait to join that thread when I hit goal (or at least get closer to it)! For now, I'm happy to be inspired by the rest of you ladies!!
  11. Take lots of pictures with my kids, and BE in the picture for a change. It sounds so vain, but I hide from cameras, and if I died tomorrow, my kids would have very few pictures of me. I just want to feel comfortable enough in my own skin again, and BE in the pictures!!

    Best Decision?

I'm a little over 4 months out, but I feel the best I've felt in years, and can't wait to see what the future holds for me!! I wish I'd done it sooner, but am also thankful that once I made the decision to do it, my surgeon got me in rather quickly. It's funny, b/c with quarantine, I'm really able to focus on myself and my family. If I hadn't had the surgery, I can imagine that this time period would have been full of depression and weight gain. I'm so appreciative of my new lease on life!!!
  13. I've recently noticed hair loss as well. I can't tell by just looking at my head, but I've had tons of hair in my brush and when I pull my hair in a ponytail it feels really small in the diameter. I just ordered Biotin from Amazon, and am hoping it will help!! Hang in the there on the weight loss! Sometimes our bodies stall, then whoosh, you lose 5lbs in one week. Stick to your plan and it will happen!
  14. I will be the Guinea Pig and order some and let you all know how they are! LOL!! Feel like treating myself anyway!
  15. Congrats!!! It will be here before you know it! Good luck!!

Vitamins and Protein covered by insurance?

I don't have Tricare, so don't know the specifics on that insurance, but if your RX plan will pay for Nascobal (which is prescription B12), you can get it from Nutrition Direct, and they will toss in all of your other vitamins for free. They ship out everything monthly. It's great!
  17. This is one of the things I'm looking forward too!! I always feel like the hot, fat, sweaty person in the summer!!! Now, it's 68 degrees out, and I have my heat set to 72 and I'm still cold! LOL!! Looking forward to a hot summer for a change!!

I hit 100 pounds lost today!

    Congratulations!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!
  19. With your BMI, you shouldn't even need a sleep study. Like others said, just find a new PCP! Good luck!!
  20. Congrats!! It will be here before you know it!!

    3 week post-op problems 😩

What stage are you on? If it's anything other than clear liquids, go back one stage (soft to thick liquids, thick liquids to clear liquids, etc). Popsicles are always good too! Good luck!!

    Craving Ice Cream

I love frozen bananas!! Also, try Fairlife Core Power protein shakes in Vanilla. I swear it tastes just like melted ice cream.
  23. It's only been a day!! I promise it will get better!! Take small sips, and take gasX in addition to the prescribed pain meds. You will start feeling better soon! It took me about a week to be completely pain-free, and then after that it was just fatigue. Prepare for lots of naps!! Good luck!!
  24. The only person who knows is my husband, and I plan on keeping it that way. For work, I just told my boss I was having gallbladder surgery (which is a surgery I had many years ago! LOL!), and took off a week. My kids are young and didn't even notice that I was spending extra time in bed the week after surgery. My parents have noticed that I lost weight, and just think that I'm dieting - which I am! Anyone who asks, I just tell them I'm doing low carb - which is also true! Since you are having hernia surgery, you already have the perfect excuse for missing work. Sounds like your workplace is a bit toxic, so tell no one! Just use this board for support!!
  25. 1. The longer I go without seeing people, the greater my opportunity to surprise them with my new skinny self! 2. It doesn't matter that my bras don't fit, b/c I don't have to wear one! 3. By wearing jammies every day, I have no idea what size clothing I wear, so it will be a fun surprise when I finally decide to get dressed again! 4. Working from home, I don't have to worry about temptations from coworkers bringing in donuts, cookies, etc. 5. Also no restaurant temptations, since I eat every meal at home. 6. I can use all the $$ I'm saving on not getting hair and nails done to get extra glamorous when I break out of here someday. 7. Amazon delivers my favorite protein shakes. 8. I have plenty of time to try various free workout videos on YouTube. 9. Plenty of time for weighing experiments, before shower/after shower, before pee/after pee; the possibilities are endless. 10. I can drink as much water as I want, b/c I can pee every 10 minutes if I have to (which is also fun for #9).
