I had to have an Iron infusion a couple years ago, my surgeon says I don’t absorb iron sulfate anymore. So dealing with a normal MD was not helping my iron rise.
I also have a Vitamin D deficiency and B12 also. Another problem I’ve had is with my Fiber intake, so the only thing that helps me is the psyllium. My labs are finally where they need to be.
I’ve just been wondering where others are at and what is still important. I’m 8 years out of RNY and finally feel like I’ve figured it out for my body.I'm 8 yrs out lapband patient and getting ready to revise to VSG. I am still taking women's multi-vitamins. That's it, nothing else. Continued success on your journey.

Always watch your sugar intake and how many carbs you eat throughout the day.

So, what did YOU decide?

I have vegetable broth, but Pickle Juice? I'm not sure I will be able to handle that with gastritis and I LOVE pickle juice. 🥒🍵🙂 Thanks for the info.

About day 3 I started to get really nauseous, continuing until today where I was wretching. Good thing is I’m not hungry, but the bad part is I can barely finish one Protein Drink a day and just Water otherwise. I hope this goes away but I’ll just white knuckle it. Anyone else experience this? Tips? I’ve tried broth, different shakes, sugar free Jello, Powerade zero. Thanks!
Glad to know I'm not by myself. 🙂 We will get through this. Good luck next week.

Thanks for the best wishes. 😃

Because if you look at my BMI according to my height, I am considered obese. Your liver is positioned over the stomach and has to be moved out the way so that the doctor can get to the stomach.

Yes, my story is in the revision section. I didn't have to do the whole 14 days, just 4; but I decided on my own to start sooner. I'm glad I did because I have been sick and nauseous ever since. I actually just posted again in the preop diet section. Hope we feel better soon.

Day 1: If you saw my posts in the revision section, then you know last Monday I started my preop diet in preparation for surgery next week. However, I have been nauseated and throwing up since Wednesday. (more nauseous than vomiting) I called the doc and spoke to the nurse who said she would get back with me and hasn't yet. So I decided today I would do liquids just for Breakfast and have a small meal for lunch and supper.
Breakfast will be: coffee, Protein Shake, & Water Just as the doctor ordered.
My meals will be a meat Protein with lettuce and Tomato salad. I'm also taking gas-x strips to help move that gas out that's sitting on my stomach. 🤢
Yes, I'm feeling miserable, but I have to shrink this liver before Monday gets here.🙁

Day 7: Today, no liquids all day. I have to have some solid food. My stomach is so not right, I'm totally gassy. I'm just all around not feeling well. I've been nauseous all day. I just don't know how I'm going to do this. 🤢🙁 I can't wait until tomorrow gets here so that I can let my doctor know.

Day 3 continued: So after my hunger headache passed, I was doing well until after I came home from therapy on my foot. I was very nauseous to the point of throwing up. I think I am taking in too much Protein, so today I am going to limit each of my shakes to a half a scoop. I forgot I was diagnosed with gastritis so I'm guessing that is possibly why my doc only wanted me to do this for just the four days before my surgery. After taking 3 of my Zofran's (usally take one), I managed to take a couple of bites of a banana to help calm my stomach down. It did work.
This morning I am feeling a little discomfort in my abdominal area. I had to stop typing and take my medicine because I'm feeling 🤢. That being said, I don't think I can tolerate any broth today either. I didn't drink any yesterday as well. I am going to eat some Jello and I may be able to tolerate a popsicle. I will see how I'm feeling later. I'm really gassy though. Another part of the process I don't like.

Hi there. Getting pregnant and gaining weight totally sucks! I recall my first pregnancy, I gained 50 pounds! It was mostly Fluid. My second pregnancy, I think I gained 30-32lbs. Anyway, I'm assuming since no one has responded that they do not have any experience with this particular doctor, nor flying after two days after surgery. Thanks for sharing the podcast as it was quite informative. Good luck on your journey.

Day 1: Well I'm off to a great start. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did however forget that you constantly have to go to the bathroom while on this diet. I COMPLETELY forgot!!!!!!😱🚽
🍶🍮🥣🍡☕
So my liquids consist of 48 oz of Water, one or two sugar free jellos, one or two sugar free popsicles, two servings of broth (lunch/dinner), and of course coffee and/or tea. Oh yeah and Protein Shakes ALL DAY LONG EVERY TWO HOURS or so!!!!!! Yes!!!!!
Because I really don't have to do this until 4 days before my surgery on the 21st which is a week and a half away , I ate a hand full of boiled shrimp with zucchini, mushrooms, and onions. If you look at my ticker, you will see the Fluid is being released. HALLELUJAH!!!!💃
Now starting day 2 off with my coffee, water, and Protein Shake. 🙂

Thank you. 😊

Hello and good day all. Today I'm starting the first day of my preOP diet. I actually only have to do it for the first four days before surgery which is on the 21st; however, after I realized that I have gained 74 of the 99 pounds I lost, I decided to get my head in the game and do this for two weeks like I did 8 1/2 years ago when I was banded. I am just as excited today as I was in November 2010 when I first did the liquid diet. I only lost 8 lbs before surgery but it was a lost. I will see how my body acts now that I'm older.

Me too. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 21, 2019. Good luck!
For the first time in 30 years I'm overweight, not obese.
