Yup, it all depends on what the insurance requirements are. For me, I needed a BMI of 40 or 35 with co-morbidity. I had a sleep study done, which documented sleep apnea. That gave me my co-morbidity. However, I was just a few pounds away from 40 BMI and I made sure to wear my heavy clothes (some people add some weights to their pockets) for the weigh in. I hit the 40 BMI mark, just for the margin of safety.

Some people ? lol... I did suggest ankle weights to someone here once. :)

I will eventually get to the point where I weigh only once a week. Since I'm only one month out from my RNY I've been weighing every three days. Always first thing in the morning, and always buck nekkid.

I weigh in nekkid every morning because i titrate blood pressure/ Heart failure meds bases on small weight fluctuations 1.5 to 3 lbs. I have gone from a daily dose to once every 7-10 days. :)

I am in the ER right now. The PA told me my complaints have not been typical such as last night’s chest pressure/pain before I was sick from being too full. He said the pain typically goes away after being sick. I had an ekg and a blood test and I am waiting.

Thank you for the timely responce, my prayers are with you :) P.S Did they draw a CBC and Blood Culture ? Sorry to pry.

Last night I must have eaten too much throughout the day, trying to meet the 100 gram Protein goal my nutritionist gave me this week. I was eating some deli ham for dinner, felt too full after about an ounce, and felt alot of pain in my upper left shoulder/chest. To make a long story short, for the first time post op I vomited alot foam (sorry).

Today I had Water and a Protein Shake so far as well as my PPI. Feeling ok but a bit nauseous However, I have a dull ache /pressure still in my upper left chest by my arm pit and just above and my left arm feels numb. i called the surgeon and his PA will call me back today some time.

I am paranoid and have already been to the er once at my drs request for a different pain a few weeks ago which was nothing.

    Thoughts?

This is an important post to me since I spent a week scared to death I may have caused a leak by over drinking pureed beefstew when my labs showed me to be very anemic with hemoglobin level 12.9. I have been taking full vitals BP PULSE RATE O2% TEMP and GLUCOSE 4 times a day and if anything goes out of my normal it's a call to the surgeon and off I go. ( fear is a great motivator lol ) Have you checked out the recent posts here in thread stomache leak ? I had the sholder pains too but differently than yours. What did they do for diagnostics at the E R to clear you a few weeks ago. please please check back after the PA calls. :) Your report is really valuable to all current and future sleevers. Thanks.

What point would that be? I certainly hope you are not trying to embarrass women for liking sex because sexism like that would be extremely inappropriate and I would probably report it.

You know what they say about people who can't take a joke...

Call the doctor!! Are you running a fever? My stomach was also swollen where it was leaking into a pocket my body made. You don’t want to have to be on TPN, it’s miserable, especially during the holidays!😢

That was a few days ago. Yesterdays temp was 96.6 and today was 97.4 , typical hypothyroid temps but I will tell them. Thanks.

@cathynthesky82 your left shoulder hurt? Mines been killing me like a horrible crick in it from ear to shoulder since day 3 post op. I’m day 8 now. Was that the only symptom?

I was sleeved 12/04 and afew days ago while walking I got a dull aching pain between my sholders and neck both sides that made my arms feel heavy. It hasn't been back but having read it could be a symptom of a leak I'm kind of scared. I almost died from sepsis 2 years ago due to a leaking duodenal ulcer . Now wondering if I should report it to the surgeon's office tomorrow.

You're doing great. Don't forget that the weight you lost before surgery (for those who had a pre-op diet requirement) is still lost weight. The sleeve doesn't change the way you lose weight, it just makes the process easier to cope with.

3500 calories are basically one lb. Your body at todays weight burns about 2600 calories per day (at sedentary). If you are consuming 600+/- than you have an excess burn of aprox 2000 calories, which is about .67 of a lb per day, which seems to be right at your current weight loss number. Also don't forget that the amount of Water you are supposed to be consuming (post surgery) is very heavy, and that hydration can fluctuate your weight by a few lbs.

You can't really change that for the better, because if you take in too few calories, you will go into starvation mode, which will halt your progress.

Keep up the good work. You are right on track.

How many would I burn sedentary at 285. Again thanks for posting this . :)

I was more so just frustrated because I went 2 weeks without knowing the progress. I would call and ask but they would just email the patient coordinator. She would just email me back and say "no update". I was also worried/scared that I wouldn't get approved. She told me 7-14 days before I'd get an answer but we submitted it on the 16th and got my approval today, the 20th! So it's a big relief! Thank you! Lol

Sent from my SM-A205U using BariatricPal mobile app

I was defered by the psychologist the day of my pre-op (witch was cancelled) then left in limbo for a month not getting any direction or help from the surgeons office untill I showed up requesting all my medical records and informed them I was switching to another doc. Two weeks later I was sleeved . My Surgeon is awsome ! Glad that it worked out for us both! :)

It actually works very well for some folks. I have a family member that has been doing well for years taking it in combo with a few other meds.

If it is not working well for you, do not hesitate to see your dr and try something else. There are many things out there. You just have to find what works for you.

What I have seen some people do that are attempting to restart their weight loss is go back to basics. Start where you were just after surgery. Do liquids then soft foods, etc. always be sure to get Protein first.

    Good luck!!!

Having taken Effexor in 2003 and a year working in the Emergency Department at Cottage Hospital and seeing how WELL it " works for some people" I stand by my original opinion . It's Dog Doo ! :)

To much to quick SLOW DOWN YOU HAVE A JOURNEY NOT A SPRINT

Transition slowly mix up purred with liquids if you feel good on liquids stay mostly there - NO Pain or dumping keep pushing it and you will regret saying that. Read this site it take 4 weeks to transition as a average from liquids to purred to soft foods - Most of us longer, so trust me on this slow down

"Transition slowly mix up purred with liquids if you feel good on liquids" I could not agree more ! That's what I plan to do . :)

So as some of you may know I’m fairly fresh on the post op side. (Sleeved 12/11). I wanted to feel normal and prepare food for my hubby. So I made pork steak, Mac and cheese, and cabbage. His favorite. My recipes are pretty set in stone with some things, but veggies I always taste to make sure they’re seasoned. I did it. I tasted the cabbages without even THINKING! Then I got upset with myself. 😡 My dear old man doesn’t even know what the hell happened, just that my mood changed. *sigh*

No biggie. Did anything happen to you physically .
