@linda72 - you and I are surgery twins. Sounds like things are going really well for you. Yesterday was absolutely awful for me. I would get these waves of nausea and vomit, but there was nothing there. It was really bad, but I feel so much better today. Went our for two walks this afternoon and actually finished a Protein Shake today. Will focus more on Water tomorrow. A little worried that my bowels aren’t moving yet ... yours?

Protein and fluids are mostly absorbed or passed in the urine. Probably not enough cumulative solids or Fiber to make a poopy yet. Tell your doc if it goes on a few more days.

I’m usually feeling outta breath and my heart rate gets a little fast so I thought that would e an issue but the Cardiologist cleared me for surgery and the Bariatric surgeon says he is confident in the cardiologist that cleared me and his decision to do so. Thanks for ur positive feedback 😊😌

1 hour before final pre op (passed all medical/ lost 50 during pre op ) the office called saying the psychologist just declared me ineligible for surgery with no explanation . WTF. Anyone else have this happen ?

Lucky. I was just denied VSG 1 hour before final pre op by the surgeons Psychologist . Now what ? lost 50 on pre op diet. Guess it's over. Claimed I wouldn't be able to follow post op diet. :(

You can exercise more, change up what you're eating, or realize that about every 10 days your body will stall and get used to the new weight loss then continue. I read that it is hard on your body to lose a lot of weight, so I figure it needs a rest. Anything around 8 pounds a month is good anything more is a bonus. Just remember we didn't get here overnight and we won't lose it overnight either.

Thx. I am VGS PRE OP and have been losing @ about 8 per month . Hate to weigh every am as I have to monitor for CHF/Lasix or else . lol

I had ten-pound goals too, but that drove me nuts especially during those weekly stalls. Now I make my goals 5 pounds. I find it makes me less nuts and disappointed. I have to realize it is still going down so I shouldn't b***h. I hit a 5-pound goal today so I'm expecting a stall soon. It seems like I get one week a month that the weight loss stops and the body adjusts. What I find strange is I can almost tell before I step on the scale if I've lost or not.

How do you break a stall. seems I stall to often ? Fantastic job Sandra !

I broke the rules over memorial day weekend, and did not have any trouble with vodka and Water with a lemon or orange. I still ate a meal and waited 30 minutes to start to drinking. I got tipsy faster, but I also cannot drink at the same pace as before so it self-regulated for me. But after a few, it is a lot easier to justify breaking the rules!

There was a noticeable impact on my weight too, so it isn't something I will do on a regular basis...

100 lbs in 6 months ! Holy Cow, How ?

Last year, at 65 yrs old, I had my life saving and life changing VSG surgery and I've never looked back!!

I've lost 95# and wear size 4-6! Being thin and strong makes life so wonderful! I do one hour of cardio and 45 minutes of weight lifting every other day. My inches are quickly getting smaller.

So fun when running into people who I haven't seen for awhile...they don't recognize me at all.

OMG ! Looks like someone really really loves chicken ! lol Great job ! :)

I am scheduled for RNY on Dec 10th and I turn 64 on Dec 23rd. I’m getting nervous about my ability to sustain new eating habits long-term and not dropping back into my bad habits of the last 25 years.

Don't worry. You won't . Your much smaller stomach and hormonal changes sort of prevents you from eating too much.

Some may combat a degree of low blood sugar. I am having issues with my sugar dropping into the 30's and 40's. I find it very difficult to recover to a safe level. Any tips?

We really need to know what you are taking, type 1 or 2 etc. This is dangerous … See your Dr. ASAP : ) Are you taking insulin , victoza, Metformin or the likes ? I am pre op - 50 lbs now 310 and have stopped all insulin 3 wks ago an only take Victoza. 1.8 & low low carbs and walking . Glucose wafers ,sugar Water , fat Peanut Butter sandwich In a pinch since somehow you have stayed conscious ! see a pro, thats my best. :)

So your on the right path, i promise you it gets better.

So many small things at - 50 Lbs +, put on socks, boots, tie laces unassisted, old expensive cloths /watches become new again, wipe your Own butt wthout cheep Amazon Tongs lol, A1c BG Bp goes down , O2 sats improve, etc ect. Yes those bouts of depression suck ! It has a lot to do with the surgery and weight loss hormonal changes . I am a big tough ex military guy and got overcome by a wave of depression and almost started to cry over nothing, couldn't finish my work out and had to go home. I try to treat them as I have with old Adderall panic ( after I quit ) attacks telling myself I'm ok it's just catecholamines. Catecholamines are hormones made by your adrenal glands, which are located on top of your kidneys . Examples include dopamine; norepinephrine; and epinephrine (this used to be called adrenalin or adrenaline). Your adrenal glands send catecholamines into your blood when you're physically or emotionally stressed. Best wishes.

So I have been stalled pretty much for the past two months and it scares the blank out of me - anyone else in the same boat here with me? Back to the basics for me, back to diving into this forum for support and inspiration. I know that I have ventured to far off into things I shouldn't eat and am aware of the error of my ways. Definitely got to keep those small bags of chips out of my house (the rest of the family will just have to go without) as they always call out to me in a weak moment and they being a slider food well they are freezing my weight in the moment.. Water -gotta start tracking again .. I have been limited in exercises per other medical problems (shoulder surgery & hernia)and not able to do any weight training but am thinking if I just do lots of repetitions of small weights and increase my walking. I need to lose another 10 lbs in a month so I can get my abdominal incisional hernia repaired. This hernia has haunted me for a very long time and is the reason why I got the sleeve surgery in the first place as Surgeons would not repair the hernia until I lost a bunch of weight as it was a previously repaired hernia with mesh that had to be cut through for another surgery that eventually became another hernia that has haunted me. AS I lose the weight it becomes more prominent. I call it my little monster. :( Also been dealing with some emotional stuff as I was just recently diagnosed with PTSD due to trauma and Major Depressive Disorder so I have been working on not eating my feelings and am working with professionals to get that back under control as well. So 9 months later, I am currently at a cross road in my journey and hoping to get back on the right path. Hoping to find that I am not alone and that others may be dealing with the same.

Can the surgeon repair an epigastric hernia at the same time as performing the VSG ? I'm hopping to get VSG in 2-4 weeks. Down 50 lbs but still 310.

I buy the pure Protein pre made drinks at at Trader Joe’s . 35g of Protein protein for only 160 calories and almost no carbs and 1 g of sugar . I do one drink in the am mixed with my Decaf hazelnut coffee and it just like a latte ! I heat up drink for 50 seconds , then add fresh brewed coffee . I do the second drink in the afternoon or after workout . I also bought the pure Protein Powder mix in chocolate and blend a scoop with unsweetened chocolate almond milk(almond breeze ). Add half of a frozen banana (slice up then freeze in baggies) and a little bit of that Peanut Butter protein powder- delicious ! Like a chocolate Peanut Butter milkshake ! That takes care of 70 G protein, plus I also have some Isopure tropical punch powder that I sometimes use for another 20g of a light fruity drink. Makes a huge difference getting all this protein

    saved to favs. lol
