  1. my dr said nothing about fasting before but i could only have liquids 24 hours after.
  2. omg!!! how can we prevent something like this from happening? I woner what the symptoms are and how we can help keep from getting an infection like this?? Im going to take the article to my primary dr and ask what i can watch for. Thank you for sharing...we should all be informed and aware of stuff like this. SCARY!!!
  3. im the same age as you and i just got my first fill. I was banded on october 23rd and i too cant tell much of a difference. They scheduled my next fill for six weeks out. Im wondering if i can get my next one sooner if i want to or if thats whats required by my dr. Im going to call them next week and find out. good luck :tongue2:
  4. If i eat popcorn i eat one kernel at a time and i only eat a couple handfuls. Try to stick with the light or air popped. good luck
  5. Im a bit suprised you have o wait 5 more weeks for your first fill?? I got my first fill at 6 weeks. and from here on out i get one every 6 weeks until im satisfied. Every dr is different though. Alot of people say you dont get really good restriction until around your thrd fill. I just got my first one and i can barely tell the difference but it is some. Be patient and hang in there. Dont eat carbs..they will make you hungrier!! High protein, low carb diet and stop as soon as you arent hungry. Good luck.
  6. My surgery was on Octobe 23rd. I had bad shoulder pain for 2.5 weeks..it was awful. It slowly went away and i no longer have it. Id tell your doctor about it and see what he says. Sounds like you may still have some air trapped in there. Try walking alot and drink lots of fluids. Another thing that helped me with the pain was heat pads. Id use the bags you can put in the microwave for a few min. That eased the pain. good luck. :tongue2:
  7. I wonder if its just your tummy adjusting to the change. I know for me...my stomach couldnt tolerate the sugar free stuff. It gave me stomach cramps and diareah. :tongue2: good luck and i hope it gets better.
  8. If you could give advice to people behind you ...like me i just had my first fill...what would your words of advice be?
  9. sounds like you have a blockage!!! call right away!!
  10. Dont worry...from what ive been reading we wont get good restriction until about the 2-3rd fill. everyone is different but thats what ive been reading. I just got my first fill and i can tell a slight difference. Im still able to eat a good amount but not what i used to eat. Just make sure you stop eating as soon as you are not hungry anymore. Do not overeat. Stay away from carbs and make sure you are getting in your 70 grams of protein. This will help with hunger. good luck. :tongue2:
  11. oh my gosh thank you that is helpful info. I just got my first fill yesturday. I can tell a difference but it is slight. I want to look into that Injury...sounds like quite a few people use it and like it. is it expensive? and where do you get it?
  12. wow thank you for the info!! Good to know.. yeah its hard to get that 70 grams of protein a day for sure.
  13. dont give up ice cream altogether, but have the light ice cream and only have a half a cup. That way you still have a nice treat. :cursing:
  14. Thank you for sharing your story! You look great! Im going for my first fill today. Hoping it will give me a little more restriction. HEy was it hard to do the u-tube story thing? I was thinking of doing one myself once i reach my goal.
  15. lowel1956 thank you so much for the info. If you dont mind im gonna put your e-mal address in my address book so i can ask you questions. I was banded on October 23rd 08, and i go for my first fill tomorrow...so you are ahead of me. Its nice to have people to talk to when you are having difficulty in certain areas...or bumps in the road. THank you.
  16. my stomache feels tender at times where the band is around it.? but i dont think it has to do with hiccups? Hmm might be a good question for my dr. I go tomorrow for my first fill.
  17. omg that is such an inspiration to all of us!!! I go for my first fill tomorrow and im very excited! Do you remember if you could tell a difference after your first fill?? THey are putting in 2cc. I have a 14cc band.? Im just wondering what i can expect.
  18. I get hiccups whenever i get stuck on something..lol..happens everytime! Dont worry im thinking hiccups are fine. Ive gotten them alot and nothing has happened.
  19. I get my first fill tomorrow of 2cc. Do you feel a difference after your first fill?
  20. No worries..you just had surgery!! I had mine on october 23rd and im still sore!! Its normal to be sore for a while. I sneezed, coughed and blew my nose and yeah it was tender but it wont hurt anything.
  21. shleb...what size band do you have and how many ccs do you now have in?
  22. Hi guys...Im 3 weeks post op and we are supposed to go camping on the beach tonight. I was wondering if it would do any harm to have a couple mild drinks, besides the extra calories.? Im not much of a drinker at all but once in a while i enjoy a glass of wine or something. Any advice is welcome. :Dancing_sorry:
  23. yeah i went from mushies to eating a soft taco and omg i thought i was gonna die for a few min. about half way through the taco. Im having a hard time taking small bits and chewing enough. arrg.
  24. I have the same insurance as you it sounds like and i was approved in about 10 days. My bmi was 40 with no real co-morbidities. However i had gerd, arthritis in my right hip, and lower back pain. I had my dr type a letter for my insurance to go along with the surgeons letter saying that i was a good candidate for the surgery. I believe this helped alot. Good luck and DONT GIVE UP!! i was banded october 23rd and ive already lost 20 lbs!!
