  1. :biggrin:That is very encouraging debe...thank you... im in the beginning stages of waiting to see the nutritionist and then wating for insurance. But yeah im a bit terrified as well. I keep thinking maybe i should be looking into the DS instead. Kinda scares me thinking of this object in my body. But it also scares me to think of my plumbing being messed with too. lol who knows. I go to my siminar this coming wednesday on the band. Id kinda like to go to a seminar on the DS as well just to see what the differences are and success rates? If anyone knows this please share?? Thank You!:tt2:
  2. :biggrin:Id love to keep in touch with you frazzledmom....i will most likely be banded within a couple months. Waiting on insurance stuff. Thanks for your support!! I guess the thing that makes me kinda nervouse is ....i know you can exercise but you would think it would cause slippage of the band or damage to something in there??? Id be afraid to jar it around very much??
  3. wow...that is wonderful...i hope its the same for me!!! what did you have to do to get the 5 year history? just go to your pcp dr and gyno? I know i have five years documented by my dr!!
  4. what complications could come later?? Im waiting on approval for being banded but im trying to read as much as i can before i officially make the decision.
  5. :biggrin:ok guys....this is the story lol Speaking of UHC...ive called them several times to have them tell me whats in my policy. They cannot find anything that says im reqired to do a six month diet. The only requirement that it states is that i have to get a letter of pre determination. Do any of you guys know if they can tell you to do the 6 month diet if its not stated? My bmi is 40+ but no co morbids. And yes ive been over weight for more than 5 years for sure! Im dying to know if they are gonna make me do this diet??? do any of you guys know if they can make you do this if its not stated in the policy?:smile2:
  6. :frown: I will most likely be banded within a couple months and from what ive read three is less than 1% chance of death with this surgery! We all get the jitters about it but its the safest!!
  7. :biggrin:Thank you sooo much for replying to me!! Every time i hear stuff like that in encourages me and makes me feel better. Yeah i dont really think i will have much of an issure but im still a little concerned at being right at 40+ and no co morbids. Do you have any other health issues? Being 100lbs overweight alone should be enough ive heard.?
  8. Wow so you are on the same lines as me . Very nice to have someone to talk to! Yeah im pretty terrified of insurance! I already called and they cover 90% but getting approved is another thing. So we shall see! I should receive my packet from the hospital today, fill it out, and i call my insurance to ask them some specific questions. Then i send the packet back and go from there. I go to my seminar next wed eve at cottage. Im just hoping they do insurance stuff before they require me to loose the 5% before surgery. If i loose 5% of my body fat it would put me under 40 bmi and i wouldnt qualify for sure! But im sure the probably do insurance stuff before anything. Wish me luck and i will keep u posted  Melisa
  9. Hello everyone...my Name is Melisa and im hopefully soon getting Lapband surgery:thumbup:. Ive been to my pcp and he gave me the thumbs up. I was so relieved that he thot the surgery was safe and the right decision. I am currently waiting for a packet from cottage hospital in Santa Barbara. I will then fill out everything and send it back. Then its the waiting game for the insurance. I have united healthcare ppo so hopefully no problems there. Im 5'3" and 235lbs so my bmi is over 40. I have no co morbiditys so hopefully thats not an issue. Anyways im very excited...cant wait. If anyone has any suggestions on insurance, or the surgery itself please talk...id love to hear. :biggrin2: Melisa
