Overwhelming wins and losses
mcfluffington replied to Darktowerdream's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations on your NSV. Your lucky you had that whole closet of clothes to fall back on. I know thinking about your weight can play on your mind without having any neurological or psychiatric issues to exacerbate it. Recently I have been going a little nuts. about dieting. I am trying to lose from a weight regain. So far I have lost 25 lbs but that took two and 1/2 years. I took a day not to think to hard about stuff and now I am back on track. Maybe you could take a mental vacation from it like me. Good luck! -

Wow! You are so lucky not to have any hanging skin! Can I ask what your start weight was and what you weigh now? -

Very exciting! Good luck to you! -
What lesson am I most grateful for experiencing? I would have to say learning to read as a kid. I wanted it so bad and my kindergarten teacher secretly taught a group of who ere ready. We weren't supposed to have these lessons till first grade. Thank you Mrs, Blackburn. What place have you traveled that you are most grateful for? I haven't traveled very much but I guess Burlington VT is the place because it is where my sister lives. What are you most grateful for in your childhood? Again I would have to say reading. Reading has saved my life over the years. What movie are you most grateful for? Hmmmm, I love movies. I had a few dark movies that I was obsessed with one of which was Insomnia (the Swedish version). I also like a French movie called An Affair of Love in English. I loved Serge Lopez in that film.

I can’t lose, if I NEVER give up!
mcfluffington replied to 200PoundsGone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for a super positive post. Even though I have gained some of the weight back . I have never regretted the surgery. -
What is my favorite book? My favorite book is not a book I reread all the time or think its the greatest book ever written. It is the novel Letting Go by Philip Roth. I was severely depressed when I read it and I finished it in one day. That next day my depression had lifted. Reading it was like going through therapy for me. The relationship between the mother and son reminded me so much of my grandmother and my father. I think that is why it had such an impact on me.

Can we just be for real ???
mcfluffington replied to november11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If I were younger getting Sexy Back would be a prime motivator. But at this point I just want to be more physically able and not have people judge me because of my size. That happened for me initially at 200lbs and I want it back. I am dieting and hoping for a revision soon if my insurance will allow it. -
Sleeve revision to mini vs full bypass
mcfluffington replied to Missynik's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My surgeon says that DS/SIPS is more conducive to weight loss in a revision situation. I can't give you any first hand experience. I am hoping to have SIPS if for weight regain soon if my insurance okays it. I have read articles backing up the information given me by the surgeon. -

Well I failed the no ice cream proviso. There is an ice cream stand on the way home from work, I swear before God and everybody taking the challenge that I will take a different route home from now on. Luckily the ice cream stand closes soon for the winter. The question for today is what are you most grateful for in nature. I am grateful for the beautiful soft light that falls in fall and winter afternoons here in the Pennsylvania. It seems to have a different quality than spring and winter

Getting a Revision - but OMG NOT because of weight regain!!!!
mcfluffington replied to summerset's topic in Rants & Raves
I asked about revision surgery on another forum and I had a similar reaction to the responses. They made me angry because I felt that they were condemning me for weight regain. I went back and realized that they weren't condemning me. They were just telling of there experience of getting back on track without surgery as the surgery is not as helpful the second time around. But it is a very touchy subject and I was extremely hurt and I did not get any answers to my question which was have you had revision surgery and what was it like. Which is a difficult question to get answered. I advise people to approach people seeking revision for weight regain with extra compassion. It is a very painful subject. -
I’m starting to despise my chewable vitamins...

I take my meds and vitamins with a yogurt. It keeps me from getting nauseated. A protein shake works as well. -

This sounds like fun. 1. I would like to lose 8lbs. 2. I had a gastric bypass years ago. Lost 150 lbs. Regained 70 lbs. Lost 25lbs over a two year period. 3. Weight 250 lbs. 4. What memory am I grateful for? Hmmmm I am grateful for the memory of my dad since he passed away.

What surgery did you have? I imagine this will effect the calories you should intake. But catwoman is right on for RNY patients.

RNY for Children - Thoughts?
mcfluffington replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
On the face of it that seems extreme. I was fat when I was a kid and I think if someone had helped me with my relationship with food I would have slimmed down naturally instead of getting morbidly obese as an adult. But I had lots of emotional problems that contributed to my weight gain.. I am assuming these children are morbidly obese so maybe this surgery in conjunction with a lot of counseling both emotional and dietary is necessary. -

Weight loss and mental health
mcfluffington replied to PIK NIK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I gained on Topamax but I was in the hospital for psychosis and all there was to do was eat. I got back on bupropion when I got out of the hospital but I don't think that would be recommended for someone with extreme mania. My diagnosis is Depression with Psychotic features. Ant-psychotics can definitely cause metabolic issues. Luckily I haven't had any issues. Do they think you have metabolic syndrome? I"m with Karen you should definitely ask the people who have had difficulty losing after weightloss. Maybe start a new thread with a headline that would attract them. Like "Weightloss stall -- Still eating low cal after surgery" and include how long after surgery it is. It may not be your meds. Good Luck! -
Absorption of Antidepressants?
mcfluffington replied to PepperCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found my med mix in 2010. Had surgery 2012. Lowest weight was 200 lbs. Had weight gain due to loss of control over my environment. I had to move in with my mother to take care of her after an accident and she had goodies. Needless to say I gained due to being unable to ignore food that ws sitting right by my bed. I was staying in her combo livingroom, kitchen, diningroom. Moved out and the weight gain stopped. A year later I got a grip on losing at least a lb a month. Now I am considering revision. bupropion is great. I find it not only combats depression but deals with compulsive behavior I.e. compulsive overeating.
