    January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

Well, it's done! The surgery went well, I went in about 1.45pm and woke in recovery at 3.30pm I had a fair bit of pain under my left rib/hurt to breathe from the gas apparently, and an uncomfortable night, but did manage to get some sleep once they removed the drip about 9pm. It's always hard for me to sleep in hospital though so no real surprise there! sipping and crunching my way through ice and water at 30mls per 15 mins has been fine, should get to go home sometime later this morning. So happy it's finally done and itโ€™s all onward and upward (or should that be downward ๐Ÿ˜‚) from here ๐Ÿฅณ

    California Wildfires

I feel so very sad for LA right now, the poor souls who lost their lives, all those homes distroyed, 1000s of peoples lives distroyed, just so shocking! As someone from Australia I can empathise, we get savage bushfires most summers, but I don't think we have had one so badly affect an urban/suburban area as these have! My heart goes out to those affected. ๐Ÿ˜ข

That's fabulous you're coping well with the pre Op!! Funny how we want something when we can't have it isn't it! I just hit stage 2 of mine, which is 3 shakes or meal replacements and free amount of low carb veggies, it's been fine so far!! ๐Ÿ˜† Thursday - 4 days to go!๐Ÿ˜ฌ

    Food - Keeping it interesting!

Hey thanks, yeah I am trying very hard to stick with it by making semi normal food at night. This is how I will eat going forward, maybe not as big a portion, but right now getting about 8-900 cals per day, figure that will be good for weight loss going forward. Your Pickle salad sounds interesting ๐Ÿ˜ Funny how we obsess about one thing!!

    Cancer Post Surgery.

Of course you know ... but, fighting the blinking cancer takes priority right now, and your head seems in a good space for that! ๐Ÿ‘ It must be disappointing to have one health journey hijacked by another. I truly feel for you. The tool will still be there when you can focus on weight loss again. Don't despair, you're amazing!! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’–

    January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

Me too!! So many here who've been before us will say that everything will be fine! It'snatural to be anxious or worried, But I know I am trying to keep on top of it, helps I have a work mate who had sleeve in Sept with the same surgeon as me, she's keeping me upbeat about it all It's a low complication surgery most of the time. I have had surgery before, so trying to focus on the positive!! Have you had surgery before?
  18. OMG!! Gorgeous!! Congratulations ๐Ÿฅณ What a transformation, your hard work is really paying off, you look fabulous ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

    January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

How is everyone going who's on Pre Op? I am a week out from surgery (16th) as of today, ๐Ÿ˜ฌ have lost 3.2kg (7 pounds) since starting pre op on the 1st Jan, 5kg (11 ponds) since first consult in Sept. I am nervous it's getting close now, and I have to travel for work next week, can only have shakes and veggies next week it is going to be tricky getting healthy veg when not at home!

    January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

Are you able to modify it, have a shake for breakfast? I am not a breakfast person either, except on weekends if I can have a late brunch ๐Ÿ˜„ .. so that has been a challenge for me too, I find now I sip my shakes with coffee in them, at work basically takes me hours! Have you discussed the arthritis with your team? any way you can exercise without extra pressure on your ankle? swimming? There are several seated exercise gurus on social media, such as Justin Augustin, who have programs for people not able to do traditional exercise routines.

So a quick lean curry tonight veggies, chicken and konjac 'rice' - used my healthy fats ration to add a tablespoon (for 3 portions) of almond butter to thicken and make it creamy. It's not bad!

    January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

It's so hard when you have to make food for the family!! But you got this!! ๐Ÿ˜„ I am fortunate that my night meal can be reasonably normal, for now, the last 4 days before surgery is no meat, shakes and veggies only.
