Ultimately. Choose the type of surgery you want. Research take your Drs suggestion into consideration. Ask your insurance what types of surgery they cover. Have your friend go to an information seminar.
I know what the statistics say on each surgery. There are no absolute stats/results with any type of bariatric procedure. Some of lose slow and others lose fast. Sex, age, hormones, complications, medical issues, medications, genetics are factors on the rate you lose and how much you lose. The only part of Weight loss surgery that is in our control is how you work your plan.
We are all more than the statistics. I guess you can say I don’t fit the statistics/norm of a sleeve procedure. I lost fast. starting 254 to 140 in six months. I had no complications. I bounced back from surgery quickly. Five years out I maintain in the 130’s. Most people that are maintaining and doing well don’t stay on this site. Not many vets hang around. I’m not sure if people are getting a balanced look at WLS outcomes.
Revisions are done on all types of surgery for many reasons. I’m hoping to see an official revision thread. I would like to know why we are seeing so many revisions. I’m now talking to people that have had three surgeries.
For me absolutely no regret.

Hello everyone! I received my surgery date last night - February 6th! I look forward to sharing and hearing stories about everyone's journey and I am excited to finally have a date for surgery!

I am at the end of my six months (which is actually closer to 8 because only after you complete the 6 months do they submit all the paperwork to insurance and you wait for approval) and I felt the same way. "Why can't we just schedule this before I lose my courage!?" But honestly, it goes much faster than you think and you really need time to adjust and learn about life after surgery. It is important to do you research (not saying you haven't) and feel confident that you are ready. For me, I went through the motions. I researched, followed the rules etc etc. But it wasn't until I got the call that insurance approved me that it all clicked. This is really happening and my whole life is about to change. Good luck! I hope everything works out!

Well Fluffy I do agree because I still fight this battle. Instead of the. Old Classic "What a Difference A Day Makes", I hereby n9minate for the Fecal HitParade---" What a Difference a Poop Makes". I worked for eons in Long Term Health Care, ridiculed my clients ( behind their backs of course) about their obsession. Well Dayum, they KNEW what they were talking about, even the gentleman who stood up in the middle of the Dining Room to announce " I TOOK A DUMP TODAY!", one of my funniest moments because I was one table away helping someone else with their meal.

8 months.. I was 220..now 150...yup ..my goal is 140.. I have no doubt I am gonna do it!!!

9 months in and 107 lbs down...I still have about 10 lbs to lose but I am so happy I had this surgery...I am now confident and feeling pretty inside out!

I'm still pretty obsessed with anything related to bariatric surgery and I'm over four years out! But then, reading about it every day and checking into a couple of these internet forums every day keeps my head in the game, so I won't give it up. I'm afraid if I didn't keep it front & center in my brain at least an hour or two a day, I'd stop being so disciplined and my weight would start to creep up.
