  1. I have just had to have surgery to fix a leak in the tubing about a inch from the port, so basically it was trimmed and re fixed. The doctor doing the fixing said that it was caused during a fill. Now I always pay extra to have my fill done under x-ray. And the fill provider as still managed to stick the needle in the tubing. Its has cost me 5 weeks of very bad pain, apparently this is caused by the leak, 1 week in hospital - we thought it was my gallbladder. And $1600 to repaire through surgery, I had this done under local anticeptic, which I found very traumatic, I know a lot of people say its a walk in the park, but I found it extremely difficult. Would you file a claim against the fill provider to get your cost back?

  5. so I was having good weight lost..I have a 9ml band with 8.5 ml in it. I was having probally too tight restriction but it was working for me. Then wham bam...no restriction, I can eat basically what I want, after a while I get the port pain. So you guys what do you think as happened, and I know I have to book an appointment, I will do tomorrow its easter weekend at the mo. Please let me know if this has happend to you. Angie
  6. There is no way I can get to Belguim to make sure things are ok. I have had a x-ray and no probs before xmas, my band holds 10 mils with 9 9.75 in it, I had fantastic restriction and now nothing...and I mean nothing. I wondering if it has failed and yes I have put weight back on, really fed up. If I had the money I would have more drastic surgery, but alas all the money as gone.
  7. I have had good, and probaly a little to tight restriction since my last fill in July, and then wham bam...ZILCH nothing, not a thing. I usually dont do toast with the band I have just sat here and had 2 slices of toast. Pasta is also out, but now fine. I am somewhat scared because I need my band to lose weight. Could it be that I have lost a lot of weight 70lbs, and its just suddenly gone slack?? BTW I have no pain, except the shoulder wind pain. thanks

Why would my restriction just go???

you are probally right, yes I feel something its like when I was first banded and you eat a little too much and you get that aching port pain, I have that now after my toast. at my TOM i go tighter, I will email my surgeon tomorrow. thanks guys
  9. Hi you made me smile, I got into a 16's a couple of weeks ago..not pretty, but like you they fastened I was so pleased:clap2: within the next couple of weeks I should be able to wear them and be able to breathe at the same time ( I find this somewhat important:biggrin1:) I saw your counter and noted that last week I reached my 70lb, lost another couple of pounds since but that was so good. I have between 30 -50 lbs left, when I feel right in my clothes, I will probaly still be overweight according to the poster in the doctors surgery...but there we go:p
  10. Hi Liz I am also from the UK, Manchester area, I have been banded for 18 months now and just hit the 60 lbs mark. I have been up front from the start. I work in school and had it done during the feb half term, in Belguim, I had to let my collegues know due to not being able to lift for a while. I knew banding wasnt the easy way out, and it hasnt been, I still have 40 lbs left, but with the support of the people around me its helped. Its a very personal thing, If you need to talk feel free to get in touch. Angie

    Can a band tighten after a de-fill ?

I have just had 1.25 taken out, and suddenly can eat. I was very tight before and struggled, but was losing around 1lb a week, but on a poor diet. chocolate and chips (crisp). so for the last couple of days, I have treated myself and not worried about what I have been eating, so have gained 3lbs......but on the plus side, from today I am starting how I mean to go on. I am following the slimming world plan, so this morning I have had some scambled egg and a slice of bacon. I feel full. Also too much scrambled egg can make me pb, so I am looking at just enough to give me a good full feeling. Lets see how it gos Angie
  12. ....I phoned my fill provider, and before I said anything she said...I bet you can only eat crisp and chocolate:eek: and yes she is right. She then said its too tight, I have a 11 ml band that is upto 8mls I have lost 48lbs in a year...I am happy with this, know its slow but its going the right way and I had set myself 2.5 yrs to get to goal, only another 70 lbs to go. Has anybody else had this problem? If you have how much did you have removed? Angie
  13. Paula thanks I cant even eat healthy foods, and actually am missing eating 'good' food. Just not sure how much to have out, its that fine line mmmmmm Angie and by the way...pringles mmmmmmmmmmm and before the band I was not a chocolate fan, but now I love the stuff

Did I do the right thing?

Hi kimmy I was banded on the 17th Feb, and lost 16lbs, What you are feeling is normal, and believe me when I say you have done very well, i come from the UK and know some people who put post op weight back on because they cant control what they eat....thats why we need the band, so you have lost weight a kept it off ...a bonus. I have just had my second fill, and boy do I know it. so this is restriction. I know this could be gone tomorrow, because it can take a while to hit that 'sweet spot' Remeber this band is like a guitar that has no strings...it might look good but it aint working till its got its string. Since saturday I have pb'd 6 times, before this I had only done it once. Everytime you have a fill you have to re-ajust, what you had yesterday you may not be able to cope with today. I could eat crumpet before my second fill....I wont be eating it again. This is the pit fall of the band, but this pit fall is going to help you get where you want to be. Stay in there girl. Angie

How long before it kicks in?

Thanks you guys, I think we all need reasurance at times. Angie
  17. I am 8 weeks post op, and got a 9ml band with 5 mls in it, I had my second fill yesterday. Can i feel a difference....Yes...but I am very aware that it could go at any time. I have only lost 16 lbs within this time. did other people take some time before you found yourself and the band, before you worked well together? I am struggling with eating right and with the drinking thing, not being able to drink with a meal...although I am getting better with it. Angie
