Is there anyone from Louisiana?
Shontel replied to justcallmequeen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I posted in the Louisiana Forum. I am saving and am from Lake Charles area. Would love to hear from ya. -
Yep, going to Mexico. Can't wait to be on 'your side' of things...email me

I'm going through the same thing you are. I am saving up right now but will be going to Mexico as well. I have told my mom and sis (who like yours both had gastric bypass surgery) and 2 close friends. That's it. I think I am going to play it by ear and take situations as they come. Right now, I don't think I will care what people will think, because when I'm lookin hot it won't matter. Its a personal decision I guess. Good luck, were all here for ya!

I recently went to a seminar by Doc Spiegel. His cash price is $15K and only now does them in Houston. -
I, too am saving (have been for 3 months now) Not sure how I feel about this..my funds are coming from me working, doing odd jobs, ect. I agree that its hard not to judge. Perhaps you are soliciting the wrong group of people? Good luck to you.

The drink PhotoNut is talking about is Isopure Zero Carb Ready to Drink. Tastes like Gatorade or Kool Aide. Fabulous but pricey. Get ready to pay 2-3 per 20 OZ BOTTLE. Ebay has some cases for sale. Grape Frost is my fav. There is another post somewhere on this board about em. Hope this help. BTW, this drink comes in powder form to, havent tried it though.

I am having those same feeling. That is what has taken me so long to make the decision to get banded (not yet banded, saving) I think you brought up an important point in your statement...you have to be ready to change EMOTIONALLY along with your physical changes. Good for you and well said.
-
You brought up a really good subject. I am going to Mexico to get banded, but want to do fills here in U.S. I am getting quotes for docs that do fills, but from what I understand not all docs do flouroscopy. Is this more reliable to get an accurate fill???

I am going to have mine in Monterrey, why did you decide against going there?
-
I, like you, am a self pay as well. When I think of all the $ I have spent on the food I ate to make me this way, heck I could have had this saved years ago...tee hee hee Congrats on your lifelong gift you gave yourself.

I have Leslie Sampson also, I absolutely love the 2 & 3 mile...EXCELLENT FOR BEGINNERS & VERY LOW IMPACT, which for me with my ol' bad knees that's a plus!! I've done a LOT of videos and this is the best, i think for someone like myself who is heavy and needs something very low impact and easy. I got mine online at http://www.Collagevideo.com that site by the way, is terriffic for any exercise video. They have a great rating system based on intensity ect...Hope that helps!

Please post any info you find out about fill docs in Houston, I, too am going to Mexico, but Dr. Sanchez only has docs in Dallas or Austin.

Seems like a VERY insensitive statement. He needs to take a class on bedside manners. You seem to be on track. Keep up the good work and surround yourself with POSITIVE people (like us) tee hee hee

Hello everyone I have been researching this procedure now for 3 months. I have no insurance so have decided to head for the Border. This forum is PRICELESS, filled with valuable info and first hand accounts, it will surely be my home through my journey of change. Shontel

There are many medical finance options available. Ask your patient coordinator about what ones they use, or you could take a personal loan ect.

After months of research, I chose Dr. Sanchez, for me, he was the best and most reasonable in terms of cost, since I'm a self pay. Good luck to you! I'm still saving so haven't set a date yet, but hope to very soon :welldone2:
