KishaG got a reaction from Frustr8 in How' s. That Blood Pressure Doing Now?
The first few weeks after surgery, my BP went down like yours. I actually quit taking all of my meds everyday because of it. Now it keeps jumping back up sometimes. I'm a little over a month out. I just keep monitoring it and then will go over it all with my PCM

This is so me. I was actually just looking in the mirror and thought ugg 36lbs down and I still look freaking pregnant! I was taking daily pics I had a set back and stopped-I really need to start again. I know inches are gone, I just honestly do not know where from. None of my clothes are falling off and I don't have any too small clothes to try on. I went shopping for a goal outfit and some new clothes and I couldn't find a single thing worth buying.

Yay, so glad I saw this. My daughter laughed at me the other day when she saw me drinking from the pickle jar. 😂

First, I do not take ambien or any other controlled sleeping medicine.
The only new medicines I have been on since this started is ActiGall and Pepcid AC
Is anyone doing strange things in the middle of the night? I will "come to" and be sitting on the edge of my husbands side of the bed. No idea how I manage to do that Just sitting there. I will come into the dining room and be so out of it hubby says go back to bed and I will randomly pick something up off the table that I think needs to go to bed with me books, paper, bowls, silverware.
There have been a few nights that apparently I am doing into the garage and opening the garage door in the middle of the night.
Then theres this from last night I have no idea why I did this..but I am a little impressed I managed to make room in the fridge for it lol

We have to make a 7ish hour trip on Sat, and then turn around drive it again to come home on Sun (my daughter is a competitive gymnast meet is on Sun)
On Monday due to some reflux issues they made me go back on liquids, my surgeon told me to slowly start adding back some solids.
I have some crunchy Protein Snacks from a bariatric site and I am thinking some drinkable yogurts (light and fit kind) Other than that right no I am completely blanking on what I should pack for the drive. I have been able to have deli meat moistened but somehow that turns my stomach just thinking about eating it while we are driving. I'm also not sure how things like Jello would be while driving. Have any of yall had drives like this? What did yall pack to eat on the way. I'll be 4 weeks post op on Mon.
    TIA

Write down the question, then ask each one by mouth (read it to them). Have your mom take notes. Keep the notes. Also, all my docs give me visit summaries printed with my follow-up actions and instructions. So maybe ask for that from your docs. Now days most practices are on Epic or MyChart so you can go in and access your information and get printed summary reports.
I ALWAYS take someone with me to my appointments cuz of chemo brain. Also you can ask if you can record them so it will help you remember. You can explain your spectrum challenge and communications. Most docs just want to know how to help us as quickly as possible.

I took 4mg 3x a day. That night time dose interacting with another med is how I slept. I can tell I am not taking it anymore. There is more pain in my back than I have had in the last year. I would start seeing if there is anytihng similar that isn't a muscle relaxer. To my knowledge no but something is fixing to have to give.

I am still allowed to take my pain medicine, but I also took zanaflex and my surgeon nixed that one. Just be sure they have an accurate list of all your medication. They will tell you which is good and whats not. I'll admit I am having a hard time without the zanaflex, but surgeon told me it could put a hole in my gut and yeah...I'm not sure I want that lol.
Also, a just to let you know, I had to stop my PM meds because surgeon would prescribe stronger meds. Well 2 days after being home I quit taking the diuladid percocet was soo much better for my pain. Just make sure you don't mix if you change like I did. I went from feeling almost as bad as I did day 2 to feeling like a totally productive human in the span of hours just by changing.

    ***Update***

Guys, I’m so happy I could cry. After really going full scorched earth/raising Cane with Aetna, my dr.s office, and with my employer, I found out today I’m approved. I really can’t believe it. Still don’t have a date but this is fantastic news. Thanks Everyone and I’ll be seeing you online here with probably more questions.
It was not easy, had to complain to the business office supervisor, the surgeon directly, I saved all of my correspondence and had an extensive timeline for everything and named everyone I spoke with at Aetna. If they approved me only to shut me up, I’ll take it.

This from getting initial “Sorry you are denied come pick up your paperwork”. I found out my advocate didn’t know how to file and appeal and that’s why she told me that.

KishaG got a reaction from GradyCat in Horrific GERD related chest pain
I have already posted about my issue with hiccups that started on Fri just prior to 3 weeks out and what they told me to do. Well, yesterday was my first whole day back on liquids and I restarted the carafate on Mon. Well, not only do I still have the hiccup issue, yesterday I had the most horrific chest pain. The only reason I didn't totally freak out is I knew the pain was GERD related but it was much worse than anything I ever had pre-surgery. Feels like I can't swallow at times as well.
I called this morning and got an appt for this afternoon but I am wondering has anyone else experienced something like this?

KishaG got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in Supporting Cast
I had no problems whatsoever telling people I was having the surgery done. Pretty much all of my friends and family are excited for me. Even my daughters gymnastics coaches are extremely supportive of my decision. They love seeing my updates, even a teacher I had in HS (I gradated in 1992!!) is following it and has told me she's one of my biggest "fans" My family is amazing, my husband was deployed on my surgery day so at age 45 my daddy drove me to the hospital and drove me home and my mom stayed with me for almost a week to take care of me. My 12 yo is so amazing and supportive over it, she loves to ask me how much I have lost and gives me high 5's etc. My 25yo is supportive as well however he is one who was always more worried about my smoking than my weight when he was growing up. For him I made sure he knew I was well taken care of here so he wouldn't even think about trying to take leave to come home for it.
I have only had one friend of mine who felt the need to tell me that she didn't think her bmi was high enough and even if it was "I couldn't handle the loose skin" why she felt the need to tell me that I don't know but that was the only not really supportive comment I have gotten she is one though who thinks she is perfectly healthy obese and it's not her fault she doesn't lose weight...so that could play into her reply too she just seems to take my having surgery personal. Whatev her opinions don't bother me in the least I did this to better myself and to stop worrying about the ticking time bomb to diabetes or heart problems.

I hope you are able to have a wonderful supporting cast. For me knowing I had so many rooting for me makes me feel amazing.

TBH I wouldn't even bother with an appeal, just get all your records and go to a new Dr. As I was reading your post my very first thought was why would they not allow mayo Clinic due to the IDQ, but take this other clinic even though they aren't IDQ it sounds really sketchy to me.

    1. To weigh less than my hubby.
    2. Hopefully this will help my back (not all issues in mine are weight related) Kind of worried right now though because even 25 lbs lighter after over a year of maintaining the pain for the past week it has been worse than it was 1-2 years ago.
    3. To not excessively sweat.
    4. To not have to pay so much more just to have cute clothes.
    5. To look amazing at my son's graduation from pilot training.
    6. To be healthy, be able to be active without "dying"
    7. Hoping that losing weight and getting healthy will help with my depression-be a happier person.
I know there are more and none of these are really weird, but I am blanking on other things right now

I had bad GERD before my surgery- in fact finding my hiatal hernia when they did an esophagus dilation is how I got started on this journey. I had surgery 3 weeks ago today, and I was on the phone with my nurse over probable reflux issues. Before surgery I was taking omeprazole before surgery, after they switched me to pepcid. Well, now I am back on carafate and they told me to go back to a liquid diet for a few days to try to reset. Maybe something like that would work for you? You are only a week or so further out than me.

KishaG got a reaction from GradyCat in Very Frequent Hiccups
I had RNY Gastric Bypass on the 19th of Aug. I keep getting the hiccups, Fri it was almost every hour, Sat I'd get a couple hour break then get them twice in an hour and on and on.
I get them even when I haven't eaten and even in the middle of the night so I know they are not from eating too fast. Getting them so often is placing limits on what I can eat because of the air I inevitably swallow making me feel like I am stuffed to the max.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? Any tips on how to avoid them? It is driving me insane.

I feel like a lump on a log and like I am not doing very much at all, but you could be right. When I was doing light cleaning it really felt like I wasn't doing enough could just be my head playing the you're being lazy game on me and not taking into account that you're right 2 weeks ago I had major surgery. I think it was just that...ok a week no pain, hubby finally coming home last night (gone 3 months) and maybe I did over do it. I'll take a few more steps back which will be much easier to do now that he is home and see if that helps. Thank you!

I no longer had any jean shorts I could wear and a busy season for my daughters gymnastics season starts next week. I quit wearing leggings months ago as I was tired of trying to find shirts to cover my butt and stuff, so it was either find new tunics which really would be a waste of money for me IMO or a pair of shorts. So exciting getting them since I normally had a 22 or 24 depending on the brand and I bought a pair of 20's. My baby girl was giving me high 5's lol. I also cleaned out all my clothes that I haven't worn in over 3 months. I figured I hadn't worn them in that long and it would be long before they were too big so I'm making space now. What started it all? I couldn't see any loss at all visually, so I tried on a pair of pants that I were too small when they came in the mail. Now they fit WOOT!
