    October 2019 surgery peeps?

I had my sleeve on 10/28. Had more pain than expected and took today off work too, but today has been my best day. Getting a decent amount of water and protein in each day and down 14 lbs. I was stubborn about pain meds but taking them helped me heal. Been able to make #2 without any meds/supplements, but I don’t go every day. I’m itching to go back to work so you know I’m bored.

    October Surgery Roll Call

Had mine 10/28 and, oh yes, the pain is real. It’s not gas, it’s the incision where the stomach comes out. I just got my abdominal binder wrap thing. I’m praying it works. Today I have been using my pain meds because I can’t. I wanted to go back to work in a week (so, Monday), but I don’t know if I can. I’m ready to feel human.
  3. I’m so nervous, excited, terrified, ready! Tomorrow is my day to join the losers bench. Prayers and positive vibes all welcome.

    Tomorrow’s the big day!

I’m doing better today. The pain comes and goes.

    Tomorrow’s the big day!

Thank you. Came home today. Walked a lot. While I constantly read about this and figured I knew, some parts you still cannot prepare for. I knew I’d be up more (read things about insomnia), but I didn’t know a lot. Everyone’s body is different so you can’t fully prepare. You jest through and, passing gas will be your best friend in the world (something I never thought I would say). Good luck to everyone and let us know how it goes. I’ see plenty of open spots on the losers bench waiting for everyone to come and lose the weight 😃
  6. My surgery is next Monday, 10/28. I'm on the two week pre-op diet, 9 lbs down. It's not easy, sometimes you get tired, and when you are surrounded by food, it can be very difficult. Only twice was a really "surrounded" by it. At home, when my husband and son eat, it's not bad. Getting excited but also nervous and scared. It's been a long time coming (I thought about it for years, was about to start the process in early 2018, but another health issue was taken care of first). Once the process started, though, while it seemed to drag, it's also been rather quick. Having all the feels....

Thank you, I appreciate that so much. I agree with talking to your spouse. I have been open with mine. I have cried, told him all of my "Whys," and he even came to one of the support groups with me, because I wanted him to hear the stories of those who have already have it, as well as the people like me who have not yet had it. He still says, "You can back out," and I know that's only out of fear. just like when we're like, "What am I doing?" I have had one safe surgery, I'm praying for another. My son and my husband need me and I desperately want to be with them as long as I can (hence, why I want my health back). I don't have a house, I rent; I don't have a ton of money, but we're ok (there could be more in the bank though....), but I'm rich in those two guys that love me so much. I'm thankful for my other family that supports me, my work friends, who are super supportive and for everyone on here. I'll let you all know how I am when I'm on the loser's bench

I'm wondering this my self. I downloaded the Baritastic app, to see if that more user friendly.

    One week to go

Yes, only the weekend. I'm very nervous and excited. I got all of my instructions from the Surgeon's office and hospital today. They have me drinking 20 oz Gatorade (I'm going to assume sugar free cause, duh) the night before between 8 and 9 p.m. and they want me to drink another in the morning, before 11 a.m. (surgery is scheduled for 2:45 p.m.). I never heard of drinking more than a sip of water with your pills before surgery. They said helps patients not become dehydrated. I will follow their orders, but it makes me a little nervous about the day of. I'm sure this weekend will fly by. Tomorrow is my relaxing day. I'm getting my hair done, going to the salt cave (it helps with anxiety, allergies, asthma, etc.) and maybe a pedicure, no nail polish, just to have smooth feet and it feels good. I even though about a facial, but I also want to not drag my husband to all these places, though he'd gladly come with me. He's the best. he got me a new Fitbit. So supportive.

    October 2019 surgery peeps?

I have a few days left, my surgery, like Losing for Jack's is Monday, 10/28. I have the Unjury protein broth that helps and, when I can't stomach another shake, I use that (I like salt more than sweet). The first few days are the hardest, then it's much better. Broth, sugar free jello and sugar free ice pops (also crystal light when you can't do any more plain water or need flavor to trick the hunger) are so necessary. A lot of people in my area must be doing this surgery or have had it, because SF ice pops are so much harder to find than you'd think. Also, I asked a vendor at a hockey game for a SF Italian ice and you would have thought I asked for $1 million. Seriously hard to find any friendly things out and about (it didn't hurt to ask - well, it didn't hurt me....you should have seen her face 😆
  11. My surgical group required an endoscopy. I didn't need the sleep study since I already know I have apnea and have my CPAP. I had the H Pylori test, blood work, EKG and chest XRay as well (and a breathing test, since I have asthma. Every group is different. I was like, bring on the tests, whatever makes it safer. The Endoscopy showed I have no hernias, tumors and all that, so I'm happy to have had it. I'm sure, if you wanted, you could ask to have one to check, just to be on the safe side.

    One week to go

Nice! It's so real right now....we all waited for this for so long. I'm so nervous and scared but I'm so excited for better health and a better quality of life. Tomorrow is my last day at work. I'm only planning to be out of work for 1 week, since I have a desk job at a law firm. No heaving lifting of files is my only restriction. There's no problem there. Let us know how you do, since you're first

I did that too. I've lost 48 lbs and 7.5 off my BMI! I'm so happy about that. Hopefully, that will lead us to a safer surgery/quicker recovery. That's been my biggest motivation, outside of just wanting to get healthier. I want a safe surgery with as little issues as possible. 5 more days!

    One week to go

Yes, we got this. I haven't cried over the food, but I've got downright angry. I went to a hockey game (crappy food galore). Funny thing is, I don't often eat at them, but that day, I wanted everything. My husband had a hot dog (I'm not even that much a fan, but I wanted one so badly....that hurt) and then an Italian ice with soft serve chocolate ice cream on top (I'm not a fan of ice cream and I've had my share of sf ice pops and Italian ice - not tempting). I notice times of the day I get most hungry (right now, around 3:30 p.m.). It's amazing how we all lost 9 lbs thus far. That's intriguing!! I drink, drink, drink. Tea, broth, shakes, crystal light w/water....all we can do. Well, mine isn't as restrictive, since I am allowed a small meal and approved snacks of SF pudding, certain yogurt, certain veggies....if I have fruit, only a 1/2 cup, which isn't a lot (4 strawberries are about a 1/2 cup). But you're limited in how much of those snacks. I have tried to have mostly liquids though. I want my surgery to be super duper safe. Let's all keep each other posted, since we're all surgery twins

I am excited, nervous, all of it. It's been a long journey. I'm glad to have everyone on here.

I haven't tried banana. The peaches and cream premiere protein is AWFUL (stay away). The strawberry, chocolate and cookies and cream are good. I used the caramel with decaf iced coffee in the morning and that works. I have Unjury shakes and I used the protein chicken broth for my lunch (I like more salty than sweet, so it works for me). We get by. We lost the same amount and have the same date, how cool! Good luck to you and I'll see you on the "losers" bench next Monday.

    Over this preop diet

Yeah, it's been birthday central at work as well....cookies, brownies, cake, bagels, sandwiches, chips.....Gold help me.

    Over this preop diet

I'm with you, and I don't even feel like I have a right because my 2 week pre-op allows for a small meal a day (3 oz protein, 1 cup veggies....). It's still not enough for those of us used to eating more than we should. Even though I lost on my own and restricted myself, this is ROUGH. I started the pre-op Monday and my body "self-cleansed" that very day, as well. I can relate on every single level! Please vent. I'm venting. Feel very alone, especially when everyone is around you is eating....and eating....and eating
