I’ll take the cold any day over being overweight 😉 so glad I’m not the only one. Does this ever go away tho?

For the first four months post op I would cough when my pouch was nearing its limit. I’ve learned my lesson of eating too fast and too much - it’s certainly unpleasant.

Hi there - had my sleeve December 2, 2019 - I’m now 5lbs away from goal weight! One thing I noticed early on is that I’m ALWAYS cold. I know losing the fat no longer insulates you, but I’m always freezing! I take enough Iron, so I can’t say that’s it. Anyone else experience being cold all the time?

I weigh once a week, Monday mornings. Daily or every few days don’t work for my motivation or psyche because our bodies change daily due to various factors.

I weigh myself every Monday - NEVER daily because our bodies change daily from a variety of factors. Weighing everyday can really do a number on your psyche and motivation.

I would first check with your bariatric team. I would assume they gave you instructions/guidelines of the Vitamins etc you need to take after surgery. I wouldn’t add anything more to that - they are the experts.

Interesting - I’ve never had any acid reflux or gerd before. It is a dry cough that happens even if I drink a Protein Shake. I will bring it up to my doctors at my next appointment. Thanks for input!

Hi all,
Does anyone experience a bit of coughing after eating? I’m thinking it might be the pressure from my new pouch? I had VSG surgery on 12/2/19, so almost four weeks post-op. Thanks! -
You’ll do great!! I was nervous too. When I would start to worry, I had to remind myself to leave it in God’s hands. :-)

Vertical sleeve. Gas one day after surgery, and BM two days after surgery; had one or two every day since. I was not on a pre-op liquid diet (was able to eat up to 8 hours before arrival to hospital).

I start Stage 3 (purée) on the 16th - I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!!!

I was nervous too, but every time I started to feel nervous I told myself I was ready to move forward and leave my old ways behind. And the biggest help was that I gave the worry to God! Remember, the entire procedure, from admitting to actual surgery, is a few hours out of your life... compared to a lifetime of a new you!

Hi there - my surgeon didn’t require a liquid diet regardless of BMI. It was ok to eat regular foods up to 8 hours before checking into the hospital. They said it was better for healing post op.On 12/05/2019 at 19:19, PlanetHopper said:
Hello, I am scheduled for VSG on December 9th but I was not put on a pre-op liquid diet. You can check out my stats to the left. I have noticed that almost everyone goes on a liquid diet of some kind before their surgery. I am worried that I was not given this requirement. Is there anyone here that was not put on a pre-op liquid diet? Please let me know and share your surgery story with me, as I would find it very reassuring.

I had surgery yesterday. All went well. Now just trying to keep the fluids going and start introducing pre-mixed Protein Shakes. In a bit of pain and nausea, but I remember this is just temporary!

I’m going for my first infusion next week. My Iron was low even prior to surgery but now they’re even more concerned.
For those who are having Constipation probs with taking the iron pills, try out 150 Ferrimin 150 from Dialyvite- it has a built in stool softener- works great!!
