You have surely been through the wringer. Did they say why they didn’t just go back in and fix the problem surgically? I’m not a doctor, I’m just curious why that couldn’t be done.On 11/30/2019 at 08:02, Emma809 said:

I was 35 BMI. I was down 14.5 from pre op diet. I looked up my weight loss 2 weeks post op vsg and it was 10.9. So at two weeks I was 25.4 including pre op diet. That is pretty good in 4 weeks. On 11/27/2019 at 08:17, Leah_r said:
I'm 14 days post op. All told I've lost 12 lbs since surgery not bad. Most of that was the first few days however. For more than a week now I've been losing, consistently, every single day, just .2 lbs. Super consistent. I'm eating about 1000 calories a day and hitting my Protein goals at about 60g a day. Drinking more than 64 fl oz of Water daily.
I'm freaked out because everything I read to prepare for surgery indicated there would be dramatic weight loss the first and second months and then it would slow down. But this is pretty dang slow and it's my second week. I don't know what this means but it scares me.
I was a lower BMI patient to begin with (34), self pay and everything. Has anyone had a response similar to mine? Just looking for hope that I'm not a non responder or something :(
I’m not sure how you did pre op but a big loss there is part of the loss.
Finally, I have not gotten close to 1000 calories yet so it is very promising to me that you are losing well at that amount!
You are doing great!
Btw, I am presently down 37 total and I am now overweight and no longer obese. Very happy about that! -

Client site today, not looking forward to braving the roads to get there though...the roads are SLICK.
As an aside, I haven't really lost any significant weight lately but I am finding that some of my clothes are looking big-ish on me, no?. Picture below case in point. Even my beloved boots are looking droopy....
Solution: more SHOPPING.

I have the 5 incisions. I was asking about the one described above where they go in with only one incision. I can’t understand how all the instruments you describe that normally go into five incisions go into only one.On 11/10/2019 at 08:21, NancyLF said:
5 incisions, one for the surgeon's right hand instrument, one for his left. One for the camera, one for an instrument to hold the liver out of the way and lastly, the one to remove the piece of your stomach.
There are videos of the actual surgery on YouTube -- not for the squeamish!

You are doing great! The beauty of the pre op is it jump starts your weight loss and helps detox all the garbage we are hooked on.
Post op you will barely feel like eating so the liquids won’t bother you much I suspect. You will still have the savory broth!
Best wishes to you! I am almost 4 weeks post op VSG and convinced this is the best thing I could have done for myself. I wish that for you, too! -
I had never even heard of single incision laparoscopic vsg. I was a BMI 35 and was never discussed.
How do they get the camera in? All of those holes have a purpose. Lol
Time to google...
FWIW. I have had a few laparoscopic surgeries and scars heal so well that most are hard to find after awhile. However, if you are one to scar you might have a different result.
I couldn’t imagine being bikini worthy without a TT anyway so idc if I’m scarred on the belly. -
Thank you everyone for the advice. I did manage to get them down without nausea by doing the Protein Drink chaser.
On a good note, my Vitamin company called me today to see if I was ready for a refill and I found out they can send me the supplements in pill form. So next month will be better for sure.
Thanks again everyone! -

I’m 15 days out and I still do not want to eat. I’m eating because I have to. Frankly, I wish I didn’t need to eat. Sounds crazy coming from a foodie.
I ate 3 Oz fat free refried Beans for my first kinda real food and it was meh.
But I am doing well and feeling stronger each day. 😀
Best of luck to us all!!

Hi all,
Tomorrow I’ll be two weeks post op VSG and here are my results so far
Height: 5’6”
7/3/19 HW. 228
Pre Op 2 wk diet 222
10/15/19 SW. 207
10/28/19 197
So I think I am doing pretty well considering I had a 35ish BMI to start and today my BMI comes up as 31.8. Loss since 1st appointment/HW is 31. Loss since 10/1 pre-op is 25.
I also had a band for 5 years and had it removed over a year ago. I hear that could have an impact on loss but I don’t see how being that I had no band restriction for years and never maintained any weigh loss.
Anyone else with experience like mine? Did you lose consistently or slower than most. I think I am losing at a rate of what is typical right now. I’m happy but curious about the future. Does it slow a lot more when the purées and then solids start?
Thanks for reading.

I drove for very short periods locally within a few days but my instructions were not to drive until cleared by surgeon which was 9 days post op.
I’m 11 days now and I am sure I could drive farther if needed.
I did great with this surgery and did a lot of walking from day one. However, the fatigue was real. Definitely not in my mind. -
I got my surgery the same day (vsg) and what is keeping this phase interesting for me is mixing flavors.
For example, today I had a half of a cup of butternut squash Soup and I added some plain/nonfat/sugar free green yogurt sort of mimicking sour cream. I am also added things like cinnamon and nutmeg to my vanilla shakes or to plain yogurt.
Tuesday I can start purées and I’m almost nervous as I’m losing so fast/quickly that I worry it will slow down! Lol
I honestly have no appetite and have to force myself to eat. Yes, my brain misses normal food but we can do this! We can fight the demons that made us overweight!!BillW82 reacted to this -
You got this Miley! You are going to be a major success story! Best wishes!!

Where in NJ will you be? Or who is your surgeon? I am in NJ and I predict I will be looking for plastics in a year or so.On 09/20/2019 at 19:32, sillykitty said:
Thanks! Yes, it has flown by for me as well. I can't believe I was originally planning to have this surgery a year ago. I'm glad it didn't happen, I wasn't at a stable weight and the results wouldn't have been as good I don't think. I'm super excited, but anxious about recovery and pain at the same time. I'm not an anxious person, so feeling anxious makes me anxious 🤣
I'm also grateful my mom is going to be with me. I'm super independent, and hate relying on anyone. But I'm sure I'm going to need to. I'm glad she didn't take no for an answer, and basically told me she is going with me. My bf is also relieved I'm not going to be alone, so this removes some of his worry and stress.
My mom and I are both the get faint at the sight of blood, wounds etc. type. I can actually feel woozy just reading about ps recovery, complication, looking at pics. We are going to be a mess trying to take care of me 🤣
Thanks for the tip on the lanyards! I'll be at a trade show in a couple of weeks and will grab a few spares. I think they might be too short though. From descriptions I've read online my drains will be in my crotch area. I'm not sure if I will have drains for the breast augmenttion, no lift? One of the tips I read online is tie a robe belts around your neck, like a long necklace, and clip your drains to that. I added safety pins to my preop shopping list!
I'll be in NJ. The good thing is my mom and I will have separate rooms, and our own Fire Sticks, Kindles, iPads etc. Gotta keep from killing each other 🤣 I don't think we will have a car when we are out there. Not only is it ungodly expensive, but my mom who has driven LA freeways nearly everyday for the last 50 years, thinks a turnpike is somehow different and more intimidating 🙄
I can’t wait to see your results and read your reports.sillykitty reacted to this -

Thin it out with Protein Drink. Tastes yummy! Love the Premier Pro with Greek yogurt. Make it like a yogurt Soup consistency. Bananas and Cream, Peaches and Cream, and Strawberries and Cream with it is the bomb dot com!

Hi. I hope you called your doctor as that is very low. I was running bp like that the first day post op in the hospital on pain meds but not anything like that since home.On 10/21/2019 at 10:02, Lynda486 said:
I woke up yesterday with so much dizziness that I had trouble walking. Last night I checked my BP as I normally do and it was 71/49. I did not take my blood pressure meds this morning. Anyone else have this happen?

Does anyone else have this restriction during full liquid stage? It says I can have sugar free or plain yogurt with <10g of sugar but NO Greek Yogurt.
Naturally I bought a large costco container of Fage plain Greek yogurt pre op but now I’m afraid to eat any.
Anyone have a clue why that would be no good?
Thanks -
I am lucky that I am on full liquids now because the clear liquid was pretty rough for me.On 10/20/2019 at 18:16, marcyjones92 said:
I'm new on here, and also had surgery on 10/15, but still on clear liquid diet...I can't wait to get to the next phase this week. I also feel fatigued about middle of the day....I was told that was normal at this point.

That is wonderful that you have lost that much! I dropped 14.5 on two week pre op (which included a bowel prep-yikes) and approx 5 more since then.On 10/20/2019 at 16:11, PollyEster said:
Hi pssk,
We had surgery the same day and I'm happy to hear you're doing well. My understanding is that a lack of energy is fairly common after surgery regardless of age; you'll have your mojo back -- and more! -- soon enough.
My surgery was uneventful, and I'm very fortunate to be feeling well, too. Able to get in all clear fluids, Water, and supplements, though it takes 15 hours to do it by taking the tiniest sips all day long. I walked 1.5km yesterday and today, but at a pace of someone with a walker 🙃 Down 4.2kg since Tuesday, which keeps blowing me away when I think of how much effort it took to lose this much weight before surgery.
All the very best to you for your continued recovery!
I will be following your journey, surgery twin! 😀
