First of all, you look great. Would you mind giving us an update on your journey? You surely went through a lot. It I great to see you are doing well now.
-
You have surely been through the wringer. Did they say why they didn’t just go back in and fix the problem surgically? I’m not a doctor, I’m just curious why that couldn’t be done. I will pray that Monday brings good news you are can go home!
-
How long have you been admitted in hospital now? I’m really sorry this has happened to you.
-
I was 35 BMI. I was down 14.5 from pre op diet. I looked up my weight loss 2 weeks post op vsg and it was 10.9. So at two weeks I was 25.4 including pre op diet. That is pretty good in 4 weeks. I’m not sure how you did pre op but a big loss there is part of the loss. Finally, I have not gotten close to 1000 calories yet so it is very promising to me that you are losing well at that amount! You are doing great! Btw, I am presently down 37 total and I am now overweight and no longer obese. Very happy about that!

You look amazing! What pooch?!

You look great and I can’t believe you were ever overweight! Great job!

Single Incision Scars vs. Multi-port Scars from Surgery
pssk replied to LAXGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the 5 incisions. I was asking about the one described above where they go in with only one incision. I can’t understand how all the instruments you describe that normally go into five incisions go into only one. -
14-day Pre-op Starts Today
pssk replied to Chardonnay40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great! The beauty of the pre op is it jump starts your weight loss and helps detox all the garbage we are hooked on. Post op you will barely feel like eating so the liquids won’t bother you much I suspect. You will still have the savory broth! Best wishes to you! I am almost 4 weeks post op VSG and convinced this is the best thing I could have done for myself. I wish that for you, too! -
Single Incision Scars vs. Multi-port Scars from Surgery
pssk replied to LAXGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had never even heard of single incision laparoscopic vsg. I was a BMI 35 and was never discussed. How do they get the camera in? All of those holes have a purpose. Lol Time to google... FWIW. I have had a few laparoscopic surgeries and scars heal so well that most are hard to find after awhile. However, if you are one to scar you might have a different result. I couldn’t imagine being bikini worthy without a TT anyway so idc if I’m scarred on the belly. -
I’m starting to despise my chewable vitamins...
pssk replied to pssk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone for the advice. I did manage to get them down without nausea by doing the protein drink chaser. On a good note, my vitamin company called me today to see if I was ready for a refill and I found out they can send me the supplements in pill form. So next month will be better for sure. Thanks again everyone! -
I’m starting to despise my chewable vitamins...
pssk posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of them...the multi, the iron and to a lesser extent the cal citrate. They are making me nauseated. I am presently on Bariativ and I have tried the Barimelt Cal Citrate. The Bariactiv costs me nothing with my insurance. Sigh... -
I’m starting to despise my chewable vitamins...
pssk replied to pssk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The weird thing is that they didn’t seem bad in the beginning and now I am nauseated by them for a while after ingesting them. The vitamin taste is really intense. I’m hoping this passes but I will discuss with my doctor at my one month to see if I can switch to swallowing pills. -
I’m 15 days out and I still do not want to eat. I’m eating because I have to. Frankly, I wish I didn’t need to eat. Sounds crazy coming from a foodie. I ate 3 Oz fat free refried beans for my first kinda real food and it was meh. But I am doing well and feeling stronger each day. 😀 Best of luck to us all!!

Hi all, Tomorrow I’ll be two weeks post op VSG and here are my results so far Height: 5’6” 7/3/19 HW. 228 Pre Op 2 wk diet 222 10/15/19 SW. 207 10/28/19 197 So I think I am doing pretty well considering I had a 35ish BMI to start and today my BMI comes up as 31.8. Loss since 1st appointment/HW is 31. Loss since 10/1 pre-op is 25. I also had a band for 5 years and had it removed over a year ago. I hear that could have an impact on loss but I don’t see how being that I had no band restriction for years and never maintained any weigh loss. Anyone else with experience like mine? Did you lose consistently or slower than most. I think I am losing at a rate of what is typical right now. I’m happy but curious about the future. Does it slow a lot more when the purées and then solids start? Thanks for reading.

DRIVING POST OP - what did you do??
pssk replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drove for very short periods locally within a few days but my instructions were not to drive until cleared by surgeon which was 9 days post op. I’m 11 days now and I am sure I could drive farther if needed. I did great with this surgery and did a lot of walking from day one. However, the fatigue was real. Definitely not in my mind. -
2weeks post op and wanting non liquid food
pssk replied to BillW82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my surgery the same day (vsg) and what is keeping this phase interesting for me is mixing flavors. For example, today I had a half of a cup of butternut squash soup and I added some plain/nonfat/sugar free green yogurt sort of mimicking sour cream. I am also added things like cinnamon and nutmeg to my vanilla shakes or to plain yogurt. Tuesday I can start purées and I’m almost nervous as I’m losing so fast/quickly that I worry it will slow down! Lol I honestly have no appetite and have to force myself to eat. Yes, my brain misses normal food but we can do this! We can fight the demons that made us overweight!! -
24 hours to go I cannot wait!!!
pssk replied to New&Improved's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You got this Miley! You are going to be a major success story! Best wishes!! -
Hi all. Doing well on day six but figured I’d post an update... Only the largest incision is sore at this point and mainly just when I go to lie down or bend or twist. If I am still/lying down no pain at all. I’m down 19.4 lbs since pre op diet began. Yeah! Full liquid stage is better than clear but it does fill you up a lot faster. I can barely get 4 Oz in of my protein drink and that is sipping slowly. I also feel quite full after that amount. I’ve also learned the hard way that if I am going to add unflavored protein to my strained cream soup, I should not reheat in microwave. Nasty chunks. Blech The hardest part for me is the fatigue I am experiencing. I have so little energy. For two days I have wanted to go to the store just to escape the house and I haven’t made it there yet. I’ve gotten as far as showering each day but today is the first day I actually blow dryed my hair. Lol When does the energy come back? I’m 55 so maybe that is why I’m so pooped? Or is everyone like this? I had surgery on 10/15/19. I hope everyone is doing well!

Does anyone else have this restriction during full liquid stage? It says I can have sugar free or plain yogurt with

Where in NJ will you be? Or who is your surgeon? I am in NJ and I predict I will be looking for plastics in a year or so. I can’t wait to see your results and read your reports.
-
That is a good idea. Thanks
-
Hi. I hope you called your doctor as that is very low. I was running bp like that the first day post op in the hospital on pain meds but not anything like that since home. Keep us posted!

I am lucky that I am on full liquids now because the clear liquid was pretty rough for me. I never thought strained cream of chicken soup could taste so good! We got this!!!
