  1. This is my latest cross stitch project that I finished. It's a Geisha girl for my husbands brother and his new wife. It's their wedding present.

I'm a bit pissed with the framers though, there is a small green smudge on the material on the right side, and a small chip in the frame on the bottom. I almost took it back but I'm afraid they might mess it up more trying to take it out of this frame and reframe it. Ohh well it still looks good.

  2. hum..it sounds like lots of people sent but not so many got yet. Damn postal service. Lets hope they hurry things up.

I'm leaving for vacation on the 31st of this month so probably on or around the 30th I'm going to go ahead and post the list of who got who.

Penni, your SS sent yours but its coming from overseas...I think ur SS said she was going to PM you to let you know, it may not arrive before u leave.

  3. hi there Peanut,

welcome to the board you should find lots of great information and help here.

As for your question about weight loss, every one is different, I'm not even sure there is an avg. Most doctors say 1 to 2 lbs a week. I was banded at the end of April and have lost around 20lbs which puts me on the low end of the avg. (17 weeks out) I could have probably lost more if I was more careful with what I eat and if I exercised more but I'm hoping that will change soon. :guess

There are some people here who have lost 50 and even close to 100lbs in 6 months, so I think it really depends on people individually and how committed you are. If you diet like you have never dieted before the band can take you a lot farther then when you were unbanded, but if you slip back into old habits you will see the weight loss going very slow.

Also there are several people on here that are turtles (slow losers) for medical reasons. Many have other medical conditions that make it very difficult for them to lose at the normal 1 to 2lb per week rate. So there are many different variables.

Good luck to you and keep us posted on your status!

  4. I grew up in Texas until I was 16, then I moved to Florida and lived there until I was 23. I have only been bit by a spider once. It bit my boob. I had a 2nd nipple growing off the side of my boob and when I went to the doctor he had to stick a needle in it, and drain all the Fluid out. Sounds painful but the area was actually quiet numb. I still have some "extra" skin that sort of died on that patch of my boob....apparently it was posinous, but I never saw the spider that bit me. And I have never seen any kind big spider or scorpian in either Texas of Florida. Only those tiny black spiders u can squish with ur thumb. The worst I ever delt with was palmetta bugs or the little lizards in Florida but that was outside in the yard, I never had a problem with those things inside the house~.

In Portugal we had a lizard run into our house...some of u might remember that thread...as an update its been 2 months and we never saw it again after it ran under the bathroom sink. Have no idea if it got out, if one of the cats ate it, or if it just died there......

  5. I think there is a place u can call...fill centers usa or something like that that can direct you to a fill center in your area. I am also going to be checking out the docs in the area as well and keeping my fingers crossed that my new insurance (BCBS of florida) will cover things. I was self pay here in portugal but a fill on self pay was only 75 euros. Not to bad.

  6. I got a card also from inamed, but it's for health reasons, to show to any one in case of emergency. I guess it would serve as proof of surgery for a discount, but that's not the point, it was given for medical reasons. I didn't even realize there is another card that is for meal discounts only. I didn't get any thing like that.

  7. my 2 cents,

I don't expect any kind of discount and I doubt I would ask for one. But I have had waiters ask me if I didn't like the food because I didn't eat that much and when I tell them I have had WLS I have been offered a discount...some times...not all the time.

However if I ordered off a children's menu and I got charged a "service fee" that I wasn't told about I would be p.o.'d and I don't blame ya for not going back. There is no excuse for hidden fees. I would do the same thing and just not go back there.

  8. I got one too, and its a site sponsored by inamed so I think it could be a good resource. If you have previously gone to the inamed website and registered, that's how they got your e mail. And you can use your user name and password from the inamed registration to log onto the site.

    The website is www.lap-band.com

  9. Hey Sherri,

Glad you like it! I couldn't think of any thing work related because you own a restaurant, so I figured whats a business owner need after a long day of work? Something to pamper themselves with. You better open it and you better use it!!!! Treat urself! So glad you like it.

  10. One lesson is that it is TOO EASY to work as a substitute teacher in this country. THAT is what he did in Alabama, Georgia and California. It appears each time he was dismissed due to conduct with girls. He only subbed in lower grades.

Substitute teachers need a background check, just like the certified teachers are checked

I substituted in Florida and I was required to get finger printed and have a background check before I was allowed to teach. And I was required to attend a training session. One time I didn't substitute for more then 3 months and I had to do the entire thing over again, if you don't sub for 90 days they kick you out of the system.

As for the story. What goes around comes around and who ever is responsible has to answer to a higher power.

  11. Hey Ali way to go!!! an hour and a half walking around wow thats great! I can't believe how well your doing...well actually, I can because you have been so dedicated!
