  1. Hello All, Now that I am able to close out my Lane Bryant credit card my new favorite place to shop is Marshalls. I use to love their clothes but could never find anything that would fit. Being 5'1 it was extra difficult since everything was not only too small but too long. I am proud to say I love Marshalls petite department. It is strange to admit I now have problems on the other end of the spectrum. A lot of the 6P are now too big and they do not carry to many 4P pants - but if that is my issue then I can definitely find a way to deal with it. Also, Old Navy sells petite in most of their pants online as well. I ordered 3 pairs of size 4 short or petite pants from them last night. Hope this can be helpful to any other shorties out there. Good Luck all - keep up the good work. Kim

  2. Hello Mass Bandsters! I have been stuck at the same weight for quite some time. Not going to complain since I am doing so well, however, last week I went on a cruise and lost 3 lbs!! Holy Crap! I am so excited! Don't know if I got stuck in a rut and needed to switch things up or what. I ate very well on the cruise just more then usual. So maybe that was the trick. Also exercised a lot ~ same as usual ~ but did different types. So if your stuck in a rut like I was try switching it up a bit. Hope all is well with everyone. Good Luck! I am 13lbs away from my final goal. Had a blast wearing all my new size 4 & 6 clothes on the cruise!!!!

  3. I hit 50 lbs lost today!!! Of course this includes 20 lost during preop phase. I was banded on May 19th but didnt have my first fill until this week due to wound complications. Not feeling restriction yet. I think the three days on liquids and mushies after the fill helped put me over the top. I do agree that right now it just feels more like a diet. I know that I cant eat as much as I did preband, but before my fill I could eat just about anything without a problem. Havent tried real solids since the fill. Have a great weekend everyone

    Liz:thumbup:

Is this Liz from Lahey? If so - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! If not - Congratulations to whom ever you might be! I too hit my 50 lbs this weekend! :) 20 pre op - 30 post op! :) GO US.

  4. Hi - I was banded May 5th and have had 3 fills thus far. I have a total of 1.8 in my 4cc band. My last fill was last Friday and I am finally feeling some restriction. No frothing or anything but when I eat I definitely feel full. I just ate 3 bites after my "full signal/burp" and am really feeling it now. This is good because it will help me to stop eating sooner.

  5. Hi - I was banded on May 5th and have lost steadily. However, the last two weeks I have not. Glad to hear this happens and can change. Hopefully quickly. Changing up my exercise (just started spinning agian and adding weight training!) and will try to change up the eating. Thanks for all of your feedback. It is always nice to know we are not alone. Thanks

  6. Hi - I just started dating someone new 2 weeks ago. I did not tell him right away but then I decided he can either like me for me or he can hit the road. Anyways, I told him and he was so nice and supportive! He said good for me for doing what I want. Plus is I am only going to look better that can't hurt either! Right? Good luck.

  7. Hello Single Bandsters. Thanks for the advice about my upcoming date within the past week. I really appreciate it.

Well I ended up going out for dinner last night and it went really well. I bit the bullet and told him and he was totally fine with it! So he understood why I ate 3 oz of chicken and was done. At least it takes a while to eat so they don't feel like they are eating all by them self. I was really happy about his reaction. He told me that it is great to do whatever makes me happy and I shouldn't care about what other people think. True! After thinking about it too - what guy is going to hate the fate that the person they are out with is just going to look even better! Sounds good to me. All in all we had a great time and have plans to go out again Sat! Ya!

I did have 3/4 of a glass of wine last night after dinner and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I am a cheap date! How long after surgery did everyone wait to have a glass of wine? Glad to know that is all I need and do not plan on doing it all the time. Thanks, KIM

  8. Hello single bandsters, I have given advice to people on this tread and I know I have answered this question for others but now it is my turn! I need some of the same advice. I am going on a first date this weekend which is also the first date since surgery. He has left it up to me what we should do and would like to get to know him better before I tell him about my surgery. With that said, I am going on week 7 and do not want to mess up my diet with food or alcohol. Any suggestions for having a first date without spilling the Beans and without ruining my diet??? Thanks

  9. Hi - I had a very similar pain and still have not idea what it is from. It hurt really bad after surgery but has almost gone away. It still comes back from time to time like today. But nothing like what you are feeling now. I asked my Dr. about it because my port is on the right side and the pain in on the left. So the only thing I can think is if the poked something while doing the procedure or I pulled some type of muscle??? No idea. If it is a nerve like you dr. mentioned did he say it would go away? I am in the same boat. However, if it is the same thing it will get better and hopefully soon. Good luck and don't overdue it.

  10. Hi everyone - I was banded on May 27th and I started walking 3 times a week. However, I don't know if it's my band or my port that I have pain in. Sometimes it feels like somethings pulling away or even rolls down - has anyone experienced that feeling? I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow.

Hi - I have felt that feeling. It is not fun. Does it hurt really bad or just a little. It is most likely your port. Your port is attached to your ab muscles and as you move the port should eventually move right along with you. But as it heals is could be pulling away from your muscles until it is fully healed. That happened to me when I did too much to quickly and it was very painful. However, I do not feel it at all anymore. But it is always good to have it checked out. I did and it made me feel better for them to feel it and let me know the port did not flip and it would be ok. I just needed to give it more time to heal. Good Luck - hope this is helpful.

  11. I am a early May bander, however, I have been very cautious with the exercising. I did too much too early and disrupted the internal sutures 2 weeks out and it REALLY hurt. So I have been walking 1.5 miles. I was up to 4 times a week, then only made it twice last week also due to the 95 degree weather. I also attempted the elyptical last week - but stopped after 8.5 minutes when I felt some pain. I was wondering if anyone noticed me leaving the gym after 9 minutes! LOL! Anyways, that is where I am at. This week should be a much more productive week for me. Good Luck everyone!

  12. Hello everyone,

My name is Kim and I am a new member to lapbandtalk. My question is, my BMI is 41 I guess which is on the lower side of the acceptable range (insurance purposes). What are my chances of insurance approving me?? I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which I hear is one of the better insurance companies to have. I can't help but wonder if there is anyone else out there that had this low of a BMI without any medical conditions and was approved on the first try. I am 100lbs over weight, and according to my surgeon I am a candidate for the band. I have submitted all of my paper work and am now just awaiting a response. Please keep your fingers crossed for me! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Congratulations to all of your success! :)

Hi - I have Blue Cross MA HMO and I got approved no problem with a BMI of 40.4! I did not have to do a 6 month program nor did a have any co-morbilities. Good Luck with your journey. Hope this helps.

  13. Hi - I recently received my lapband at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. I was 5'1 and 214 lbs and qualified by .4% so your probably right on the border. I would start by talking to your primary care dr. and he/she should lead you in the right direction. That is what I did. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck.

  14. Hello All, I also have Blue Cross HMO of MA. When I originally called they told me I would have a $500 co-pay for the surgery. However, my employer changed the policy between my call and surgery and I am now paying $1000. So this is why I am trying to keep the other bills down if possible. I was told today that within the 90 days after surgery I will not be billed anything but will after the 90 days. So I will be happy if I am at a good point fill wise in this time. I have my second fill in 4 weeks which is within this time. Thanks for the info everyone.

So my first fill was not as bad as I thought! :tongue2:

Liz, good to see you last night. I ran the ladies room after the class and you were gone. I was hoping to chat. I am sure I will see you again at the next one. Hope all is well.
