Are you still on fluids only or puree? Also, that seems a lot of water, I struggle to get half of that in, did they tell you to drink that much? Did your surgeon tell you what size he would make your sleeve AND most importantly it IS working you HAVE lost 13lbs, that is nothing to be sneezed at, imagine trying to lose that much before your sleeve? Everyone loses at different rates depending on how much they need to lose, exercise levels/muscle mass/height etc. Don't get down, there is nothing to be down about, it is coming off, just not as fast as you wanted

Not sure where to go from here
Bastian replied to Senatorweims16's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was given a calorie range of 800-900/day and was also told to eat cream of wheat in the pureed stage. Again it just depends on your team. But as said above we should be focussing on protein and fluids first! -

First consultation this week
Bastian replied to DaisyChainOz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oooh exciting! Yep same in UK, very different and MUCH easier than USA, they have to really jump through some hoops huh!? Let us know which option you decide on, once I made my mind up to get it done I wanted it done ASAP. I self funded and was in surgery 3 months after my initial consultation with the surgeon -
I think I made a big mistake

So glad to read this xx -
Hey @shanshan all perfectly normal fears Also, you will wake up coz I had the super rare post-op complication 0.2% so this year's stats for weird complications have been fulfilled by me, which means you will be A-ok I was worried about waking during surgery so I 'manned up' and told the anaesthetist it scared me and she was amazing reassuring me, so maybe just let them know? Make sure you read the post by fluffychix called 'the importance of doing the head work' @FluffyChix I seem to be your personal PR guru today haha The head IS the thing that makes us or breaks us, so work on that head GOOD LUCK!

Hi welcome to the forum, I answered your other post about your awful pain xxx

Good luck. You will do great and will still BBQ etc just make wiser food choices and only eat small amounts. The way I got past that feeling was that if I could still just have 1 teaspoon of my fave Indian foods then that would be enough, I would still get all the amazing flavours but not need to eat enough for 2 people every time I ate Indian food! I am 5 weeks out and can confirm that I can tolerate chilli and other spices so it is allllllllllllllllll good for me haha! Also, I have noticed I can now watch food shows on tv, or youtube and not feel the need to go and stuff my face because watching them made me hungry, it is actually a miracle and I am enjoying family cooking without trying to everything as I cook. A new you is yet to emerge and yeah you will have to adjust but you will be on earth longer now to get used to them and enjoy them AND still enjoy feeding others with your cooking Best wishes and a speedy recovery!

I think I made a big mistake
Bastian replied to chula313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi @chula313 first of all which procedure did you have? 2ndly whichever procedure it was you should be able to tolerate 60ml an hour with constant sipping. 3rd you NEED to go to the ER, you should be sore but not so uncomfortable that you need heavy-duty painkillers still or not tolerate fluids lovely. you are almost 10 days out and should be coping pain and fluid wise and are probably dehydrated by now. So get yourself to the emergency room and get sorted. I had a terrible time post-op and couldn't even keep 2.5 ml down which is just ridiculous, anyway I got sorted in the end but after my 2nd op by day 10 I felt like a different person compared to day 10 after the first op. Ok, It meant I was in the hospital almost 3 weeks but I got 'fixed'. If they have no idea in the ER insist they get a gastroenterologist who knows about bari surgery to come and review you. So sorry you are in so much pain it is hideous and I really hope you are sorted quickly and I would be complaining big time about not getting a response from where you got it done. Please don't delay and get to the hospital to get reviewed then let us know what is going on GOOD LUCK and big virtual pain-numbing hugs xx -
500.5lb Guy now down to 316!
Bastian replied to Snapcase-'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yep, amazing how much of this journey is mental hey. Not only will you fit in the seats but you won't need an extender strap! I am terrible pacing myself, I want to be able to reach all my goals last week I am currently just trying to get a half-hour walk in when I feel well enough so about 4 times a week, I'm still having days where I just feel too weak and wobbly, so doing what I can. Plan is to start going to the gym once I am up to it -
Sometimes hard to see the daily improvements when you are feeling really awful tho. Each day is a bit like 1 step forward 2 back, until we finally get to just going forward. I was talking to my mum last night saying I had no idea I would feel so ill afterwards and she was like 'why on earth would you not after 2 major surgeries!!?' She is an itu nurse and is a bit hardcore, so if she is telling me to give myself time to recover then I can say the same to you LOL Take it easy, one day at a time. I know lots on here recover super fast, but we are all different and some of us had complicated surgery so of course, we will be slower to get over it
-
I'm a certified keto coach and after bari surgery, the rules are a bit different. You need protein to be your focus so may be eating more often than we recommend for the average Joe and you do NOT want your diet to be 75% fat, you want minimal fat, at a later date you may be able to increase the fat a bit as your carbs are below 20g/day to be properly keto so you need energy from somewhere. In the early days post op you just want to focus on your protein and fluids, which will put you into ketosis anyway. Loads of different ways to do keto, there is dirty keto, lazy keto, strict keto, so while you are recovering and on low carbs anyway research lots and find a way to do it that will fit in with your lifestyle.

Weight gain 4 weeks post op? I[emoji27][emoji29][emoji26]

It is very different for everyone. Most places use the hyoscine patch behind the ear now, which I had too, I also had ondansetron, cyclizine, prochlorperazine and still had horrendous nausea and vomiting. The other med you mention isn't used in the UK except for kids with cancer.

I just chose whatever had the highest protein and lowest carbs The store on this site has a pretty good range.

One Month Setback, I feel like I will never eat again!
Bastian replied to ACinOH's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
How much are you eating at a time? No more than 1/3 of a cup? Tiny mouthfuls, chewed 20 times, wait 30 seconds after swallowing for the next mouthful? ( sorry not trying to be patronising just checking) It's odd that you have no probs with yoghurt but didn't keep the soup down which does sound like you didn't chew the bits in it or perhaps had it too fast. -

Bastian replied to AJ Tylo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
haha TOTALLY agree with no' 3 !!! Don't forget we HAVE to get chewing solid food at some point to keep the old intestines working properly Great this is working for you so far though -
@Lynda486 oh sorry you have had such a rough time. I had issues too and was in the hospital for 2 weeks ended up having 2 surgeries 1 failed dilation. Like you, I have ended up with no stomach too. Recovery has been slow but each day does get a little easier. I forced myself to walk around the house every couple of hours and rest in between. The first 2 weeks I still had to take regular pain killers and anti-emetics (I was on 4 types!). But I am now 4 weeks out and on one anti-emetic/day and just my normal pre-op meds for my back. No abdo pain now, just low-level nausea which obviously the anti-emetics help with. You will get there lovely, it just takes time, your body has been through a lot so give it time to recover, at least 6 weeks for all the internal stuff to heal properly so only push yourself to do low-level stuff like walking regularly around the house or up the street and back if you feel well enough. Early days still for you!

Wow, you guys in the states have to do so much! I guess it is because you do it via your insurance and they want to know you will be using 'their' money wisely/well informed. I'm in the UK, I went and saw the surgeon, spoke about which procedure I wanted and that was it, booked in. Saw the nurse and dietician for bloods/pre and post-op diet info, respectively then surgery. Only did 2 weeks pre-op shakes. Anyway good luck on your journey
