  1. I was first approved for wks in 2005 and got scared and backed out at the last moment. I was sleeved on 7/31/19, the biggest regret I have is not having it done sooner!! I wasted so many years that I could have been healthy. My weight was like a yo yo and all the diets I tried were unsuccessful. Since my surgery I have lost 15lbs and prior to my surgery I lost 45 lbs. I'm down 60 lbs since Jan. 2019. Don't wait and regret it. 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 265 CW 250 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

    Full liquid diet

It helped that I cut sugar and carbs out months before the full liquid diet, it wasn't so bad for me. I wasn't hungry after the first few days. I know it's hard but you can do it!! It will be so worth it!! I'm 8 days post OP and I've lost 14 lbs already!!! This was one of the best decision I've ever made!! Stay the course and good luck!! 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 265 CW 252 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. My larger incision that is sore is also on my lower right side. It doesn't burn but it aches. It is the only one that is really sore. I have to wear really loose pants because it's so sore. I thought for sure the incision with the drain tube would be my worst incision. It's super red because the nurse had trouble gluing it closed. It doesn't hurt at all.my follow up is also Thursday. Hope it's nothing serious. 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 265 CW 253 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

    Heaven today

So happy to hear you are on to full liquids!! Sorry you are having trouble sleeping. I take 2 Olly sleep gummies and sleep like a baby. I'm so surprised I did not need to take any pain narcotics since being home. When I was in the hospital, I only used the pump a couple of times. I was more than fine with liquid Tylenol. I have a terrible pain in my chest still when I drink/eat certain foods. Hope you get much needed rest. 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 265 CW 253 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

  7. I'm 6 days out from surgery. Drinking is still painful un my upper chest area. I'm still sore at largest incision site but its tolerable. I haven't been hungry or sick. Even though hubby has been cooking some delicious smelling foods. I actually could go back to work if I wanted to but I'm sitting on so much PTO, I might as well use it, or I'll lose it at the end of the year. I'm down 13 lbs already, woo hoo!![emoji322][emoji119][emoji813]️ Starting weight 297 VSG 7/31/19 -265 CW 257 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

    What to say to Dr?

I was approved for WLS in 2005 and backed out 3 week from surgery date. I was scared and heard a lot of negative things. My weight has yo yoed since. I have asthma, high BP, sleep apnea, had knee surgery and constant back pain. I was also borderline diabetic. The surgeon who performed my gall bladder removal in Nov. 2018 suggested I reconsider WLS again. I attended his seminar and met with my PCP who pushed the Paleo diet to all of her patients. I tried it and was unsuccessful, she said she supported my decision and the rest of the process was easy. I have a great team, my PCP, surgeon and nutritionist were all helpful and supportive of my surgery. 9. Today I am 5 days post OP. I'm still sore at my largest incision site. Gatorade zero still burns going down. Protein water doesn't hurt going down. Still feeling bloated. Walking isnt too bad, as long as I take my time and support my incision. Haven't had any hunger pains. I'm down 8 lbs. Slept in my bed for the first time lastnight. Taking it day by day, I have no regrets, I'm grateful. Cannot wait to see what my future holds for me! Not telling anyone

Only my hubby, two sons, my daughter in law, and one close friend at work and another coworker who had WLS know I had surgery. I'm a very private person and I didn't want anyone's judgement. It took a long time to get hubby on board but once he attended a seminar and asked a gazillion questions, he was more than fine with it. My sons are very supportive of the surgery, they want me healthy and around for many years. Losing 50 lbs prior to surgery with diet and excercise will be my excuse as I continue to drop the weight. I have several people on my team following the same diet and exercise regimen. I am happy to help anyone who is struggling with weight loss. 12. Today i am 3 days post OP. I'm struggling with my liquid in take. Everything burns going down and once it hits my tummy it's very painful. Both room temp water and Gatorade Zero are painful to drink. I do have pain at my largest incision site, I'm guessing that is where my tummy was removed. I'm praying the pain in my throat, chest and tummy subsides soon. Other than that, I'm up and moving around pretty good. Is the pain I'm having pretty much the norm for bv being 3 days out? JULY SLEEVERS

Its official!! Yesterday I crossed over to the sleeve side. Surgery went well. I have minimal pain around my incisions. I've keep all my fluid down and I have been walking every 1-2 hours. Doctor says if i pass my leak test, I'll be heading home later this afternoon. This surgery was nothing compared to some of my other ones. I'm feeling truly blessed and grateful for this tool!! Hope all of the other July sleeves are doing well!! Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. My surgery is already scheduled for July 31st. I received a letter from my insurance company, Anthem BCBS on Friday denying my request for my sleeve surgery. They claim I have not met all my requirements which I have. I've been under my surgeon's care since December. I have met all my surgeon's requirements. BCBS is saying I have not been on a supervised diet for 6 months. I plan to appeal their decision but this could not have happened at a worse time for me. I just found out I have 60 days to move!! Its been very stressful the last few days. I'm super bummed and feeling frustrated and overwhelmed by everything [emoji24]. I've worked so hard to come this far and to get all of this bad news at once. I'm praying everything works out as it should. I'm so depressed. July 2019 - Surgery Schedule

Hi surgery sibling!! I'm so glad your foot did not delay your surgery! My goal during the pre OP diet was to lose 15 lbs, I'm down 10 lbs as of today. I'm now hoping I'll lose a total of 20 lbs before surgery. I've lost a total of 45lbs since January. We seem to have a lot in common, I got a job promotion end of last year and my granddaughter is 9 mos old. I also have a 5 yo grandson that keeps me pretty active. I struggle to keep up with them but I know it will get easier once the excess weight is off. I still cannot believe how close it is to surgery day!! My surgery is at 1pm on the 31st. My preop appt is Wednesday at 4pm. I pray your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery!! Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

    July 2019 - Surgery Schedule

Hi, I’m one week into my pre op liquid diet and I’m already down 9lbs. Three protein shakes a day and lots and lots of water. The liquid diet is not as bad as I feared, I think staying super busy house shopping has helped. I haven’t had the time to miss food, lol. My surgery is July 31st. I cannot wait, I’m nervous yet very excited!!! So many new things in store for me 💕

    JULY SLEEVERS

Yes, I agree! When I was in the hospital twice in May for asthma and high blood pressure I had to reschedule my monthly doctors visit. I went in the same month but not with within the week I was supposed to go. My surgeon called the reviewer and got it straightened out. That's awesome your surgery is the day b4 mine [emoji16] Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app

Anthem BCBS denied my surgery [emoji22]

Yes, I had monthly visits with my surgeons office for weigh ins and to discuss my diet and exercise goals. I also seen a bariatric nutritionist my surgeon recommended on a few occasions. I followed all of the instructions I was given. Due to my ongoing medical issues and hospitalizations, I have been in the covered phase of my insurance for a couple of months. I plan on speaking to my surgeons office Monday morning and filing the appeal. It's just disheartening to come so close and having a date finally then getting the bad news. Plus all of the other things I'm having to deal with. I'm so overwhelmed.
