Looking good girlie! I can really see the difference. Your face looks much thinner and also your mid-section. The same shirt, same pose, same hair-do, leaves no doubt that you are much smaller!

I knew it was the same shirt but didn’t think about it the rest- that’s just how I was taught to pose for photos! Ha!! And the hair- thrown back in a ponytail after a LONG day!

Tomorrow will be one month (4 weeks and 3 days) and the scale finally hit 20 lbs lost.

Of course I didn't get enough fluids yesterday and woke up with no energy and a bad headache. So today I'm back to just liquids until dinner so I can focus on rehydration.

I've been going to the gym consistently and I have a new foster dog who needs consistent walks So I think with all the extra activity I was not hydrating properly. It's just so hard when you're trying to manage eating and drinking and can't do both at once . So today I'm just going to focus on one thing.

And for you're viewing pleasure, here's a picture of my deaf foster dog Bluebelle. She's the sweetest! 00100lrPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20200222194730363_COVER.jpg

    What a sweet puppy!!

  3. Hey y’all!! MIA all week again- it’s all I can do during the work week to come home, do a load of laundry and cook dinner for my 9 & 10 yo. Whew Mama is TIRED!

I wanted to give y’all a little update on my progress- I can’t get on my iPad for some reason so I can’t change my ticker but I’m down to 232.2- woot! That’s 43.2# so far! This week was slower but I’m eating and drinking more- still loosing about half a lb a day so that’s good.

A NSV is that I went to the Goodwill on Monday ( $.99 cent day at my GW) and bought a bunch of size 18 khaki pants- typical art teacher attire- and THEY ZIPPED THIS MORNING! I was a size 24 Jan 2!! Hekka Yeah!

Finally I had a GNO last night- we went to a local pub and then to see Mama Mia our on by our local theater club. I didn’t drink but I ordered their naked mugs (real chicken breast cup into cubes). We were in the nosebleeds- the theater is super old so during segregation it was the “black section” and the seats are TINY dingy and HOT! But I fit!!!!!! I’m attaching a picture of me in my SIZE LARGE dress that I wore (not XXL like 2 months ago!!!)

Also attached is a comparison pic- Jan 2 to last night. Total difference!!

Yaya you! I lost 14 since surgery and then hiy the dreaded 6 week stall! Not worried, just plugging away.

Today we leave for 2 days to Chicago (driving distance) with the kids. I packed an entire lunch box of foods for myself but this is gonna be a true test of my energy hahaha !

How fun!! I’ve never been to Chicago but I’d love to go!

Enjoy the trip but remember to stay hydrated!!

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to the forum and this is my first reply to a thread. I had VSG surgery January 27th, so I'm almost 3 weeks out. Physically I feel fine, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't missing food a lot!

I moved to pureed diet last Monday after 4 weeks all liquid and that first egg I ate was the best thing ever. Today I tried an egg with a runny yolk and thankfully it went down smoothly.

I did throw up for the first time last week when I ate a small piece of salmon, I think I ate it too fast, so I've definitely been a bit gun shy. Sounds like you guys are really brave with your diets, I'm scared to try all these new foods.

I also think I've hit my stall early, I only lost 2lbs last week which was really discouraging. But for now I'm focused on getting in my fluids and Protein Shake (premier protein), and getting food in around that, but between fluids and all the damn supplements I find I'm not hungry all too often.

I'm following now, can't wait to see how everyone is doing!

Welcome!! I’m an RNY 1/27 twin as well!! I’m super lucky as I don’t even feel like I have had surgery- until I eat that is! I eat 2-3 ounces and I’m like YEP. Somethings different. or if I forget and gulp and big swallow of water- that’s the worst. That’s actually the only things that’s come back up so far... PTL.

So far our January group has been super active. You’ve come to the right place!!

I was wondering what happened to you!! I have 100% admiration for people who go back to work so quickly. I’m in week 6 and still wouldn’t want to be back at work. So nice that your insurance pays for supplements and super nice that your surgeon has a package. I would be confused trying to take the Calcium two hours apart from the Multivitamins. lol Thank you for checking in. Speaking for everyone—we missed you!!

Awe you are too sweet. Until last night I legit “tapped out” and told the hubs he had bedtime.... he was SHOCKED! I LOVE bedtime - I don’t care how old they are I’m crawling into their beds and loving on them. But Mama was back last night and did her thing. My 10 year old grabbed my face and said Mama I missed this.... UGH heart breaker!! She was one of my reasons for having the surgery!! But honestly, thanks so much. I love you guys and it’s good to know y’all care xoxo xoxo

YOU ARE AMAZING! Already back to work! That must be very hard and I'm sure you are zomie-like when you get home, but you are doing it and working your plan.😅 I go back to work Monday, so I'll probably be joining you in Zombieland. Get some rest, girl, and thanks for letting us know how you're doing. 😘

Girl it was no joke. My oldest daughter is a competitive swimmer and I took her to swim that first night. Went out to the car, laid Thursday seat back, turned the key so I could get the heater seat going and took the best nap ever! I told her coach it was a “ Rachel is sleeping at the pool tonight” nap..... he didn’t think that was funny...

I’ll tell you though the second day was worse! Im finally out of the fog and up an hour really because I promised my 9 year old I’d bake Cookies for her project that’s due today and oh yeah, she reminded me at bedtime 😒 fun times.

Post more pics soon. You’ll probably lose even faster now that you’re back at work.

IDK.... I feel like I’ve hit that stall people keep talking about but who knows.

The supplements aren’t so bad, I just forget to take the Calcium with meals. Trying to get better.... oh and I’ve added Biotin on my own.... my hair had always been one of my favorite attributes so I want to do what I can to keep it! Lol.

  9. Sooo I started this topic then disappeared... sorry about that!! Going back to work was NO JOKE. I was fine eating soft foods, being at home, yadda yadda... but then going back to work threw me for a loop! I was EXHAUSTED. I teach middle school art so I was hugged on and loved on allllll daaayyy long... finally I told my admin I had to get back to the kids.... lol. But for real, I didn’t get a lot done that day because I was catching up from the past two weeks.

I’m staying on plan, which is good, but I’m having a harder time getting liquids in because of going back to work. I can’t take two or three gulps like I used too, so now I, sipping small sips all day and still don’t finish my tee is full of crystal light. *le sigh* I’m getting there though.

Another hard thing is supplements. I briefly scrolled through the feed and saw y’all were talking about that- my doctor has a strict supplement policy. There are three different options, and I chose the one my insurance pays for. I have to take 3 Calcium chewables a day, 3 irons at bedtime and two Multivitamins at bed as well. Also, it includes a B12 nasal spray that I use once a week. It’s called nascobal, and PTL my insurance pays for it because I have a feeling it would be expensive otherwise. After a year of so, I will go on two flints one chewables a day. Yikes. Prob an Iron supplement too because I’ve always been slightly anemic.

Anyway, hope y’all are well.... sorry to drop off like that but y’all! I was a ZOMBIE!! Xoxo xoxo

Did you have pain in your stomach when coughing? I am four days post-op and it’s the worst pain I have ever felt.

You just had abdominal surgery so of course it hurts! Hold a pillow up to you when you know you will cough- that might help a little.

Today I felt hunger for the first time in 10 days! Dangit! I was hoping it would never come back. I was out running around most of the day, stopped by a friend's house for lunch (I brought my own Soup to sip), ran errands, and by the the time I got home 6 hours later, I was hungry, not head hunger, but in my tummy. It kind of scared me, if you know what I mean. Oh no, I thought, the hunger is back. But, to my pleasant surprise, after sipping about 1/2 cup of Soup with Protein Powder, it was completely gone!

When did you first feel hunger, or have you yet?

Two days ago. It was BAD. But now that I’m on soft foods it’s getting better.

Oh wow! Onky a quater of a cup. I guess thats great though, not the aickness part though. I hope I can only feel full after that many solids.

Thabkyou for the reply much appreciated

I’m only a week and a half out so it’s still trial and error. I felt really sleepy after typing that and took a quick nap. Woke up feeling amazing. Tonight I had 1/4 c of pinto Beans that I had in the crock pot all day. Not gonna lie- the smell made me sick but the outcome- YUM!

  13. I started soft foods today. I was thinking the same thing until I tried some chicken salad. I ate 1/4 of a cup (what the nutritionist prescribed) and I felt sick. It felt like I had to burp but couldn’t. Here it is 3 hours later and I’m just starting to feel better.

my doctor also told me to use a baby spoon. I got some at the Dollar store and they have been amazing so far.

  14. Nope. I was 100% faithful and I think that is why I have done so well. My doctor scared me at the workshop last summer. He said he had opened someone up the week before and didn’t do the surgery because their liver had not shrunk.... that’s why he does a Keto liquid diet. I. Was. Terrified. He also said he has had to do emergency surgery on someone who had an obstruction 3 days post op.... they are PIZZA! Seriously? Anyway.... you will feel better if you follow your doctors advice.

oh and WALK AS SOON AS YOU CAN. I can’t emphasize that enough.

What does it feel like when your stomach "rejects" it? I saw someone once say "if you chew anything enough it becomes a puree" lol.

I also saw some people love that crab stick stuff in soft foods too but I love snow crab too! Here is my next phase. What are your thoughts? IMG_20200205_161317.jpg
