    Exercise after revision

I am the opposite of you, I am also looking to get a revision, except I am worried about losing weight too fast. I want to slow but steady weight loss journey so my skin will not hang too much. So maybe slow weight loss is not such a bad thing after all. But I am sure you can speed it up by doing all the things you mentioned religiously.[emoji3590][emoji120] Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Renew bariatrics in Mexico

I am still looking into places in Tijuana, I have mixed feelings about renew because the people who answer the phones are not really competent and are nor the best at coordinating. Right now I am looking into Dr. Illian, I am considering either the mini bypass or the full bypass. I am a VSG revision patient. Are you a first time patient, looking into the VSG? Gastric Bypass in Tijuana?

Thanks, for all the info. After talking to you today, I did tons of research on th mini gastric bypass, one of my worries is bile reflux. Did your surgeon discuss this with you? The mgb has a high rate of getting bile reflux when compared to all other weight loss procedures. Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gastric Bypass in Tijuana?

Thank you so much for the reply and sharing. Congratulations on your revision. How is your recovery going? How did you decide that the SASI is the best procedure for you? I am confused and don't know what procedure would be best for me. I have been going back and forth between the mini gastric bypass and the full gastric bypass. I reached out to Renew a few days ago , yes it seems like the intake prople do not know much about the procedures. Did you get to speak to your Dr. via a video call for a consultation? Does the staff at Renew speak English? Was ths hospital clean? Are you satisfied with the care they gave you at the hospital and the surgery the Surgeon performed on you? Thank you again for your input, I terrified going back to Mexico to new facility and new surgeon. I need to do all my do diligence before I make the final decision and book my surgery. Gastric Bypass in Tijuana?

I think the most important thing we need to do is dig in deep and see what is the root cause of why we are overweight. Each one of us who is overweight has a different reason or cause. I am a binge eater and I have dealt with yoyo dieting and weight issues my entire life. I am also a breast cancer survivor. Originally I was looking to get a surgery that would be minimally invasive and best for my body and health over all. I did not want to do the bypass because of the malabsorbtive aspect of it, I thought it would not be good for my body being through cancer already. Now, almost 3 years post op, I realise that I should have chosen the bypass. I have had no peace of mind. My starting weight was 235 lbs, surgery weight was 227 lbs, lowest weight was 167 lbs. I am 5'5" tall and I was never able to get to goal weight. Last summer I regained some weight and went back up to 182 lbs, Jan 2022 my Dr. in Los Angeles put me on contrave and topomax, I weigh 174 lbs now. I got weight loss surgery so I dont have to be on medication, I am so sad that I am dependent on medication right now. I am struggling, and constantly worried about climbing back up to 200's. I got the VSG to have peace of mind and be healthy but unfortunately that does not seem to be the case for me. My oncologist told me that obesity increases your risk of breast cancer recurrence and death by 35%-40%. I had to sit there an reevaluate my situation, and decide to to do the bypass so I can have peace of mind about my weight and not worry about getting cancer back and dying. I have heard and seen so many stories of people who are binge eaters do so much better with the bypass as it forces them to eat better and make better choices. So now I realize this was the better option for me and I should have done it from the beginning. So at this point I want to do the bypass so I do damage control, I dont want to get back to 235 lbs or above to make this decision. I hope this helps. I am looking to go back to Tijuana because I can't afford to do this surgery in the USA. I would go back to OCC as my Dr. there, Dr. Ariel Ortiz and his center OCC were fantastic but they are on the high end when it comes to price and I can't afford to go back there. 15. I meant renew bariatrics also Dr. Jaime Ponce de Leon does it. Dr. Ponce is well know for his expertise. I don't know who does it at renew bariatrics. Hope this helps other's if not you, even though my reply is years later. Hope you found a great Dr. Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

  17. I really feel like OCC failed me in the nutritionist department, especially since one of the reasons I payed so much more money to go to them was because the promise 5 years of post op nutritionist support. No I am not getting the mini bypass at occ. I have been considering Dr Illian or Dr Rutledge (The creator of the MGB) for the mini gastric bypass. Now I heard about Dr. Ponce, kind of looking into her too. To tell you the truth I am debating on the gastric bypass and the mini gastric bypass. I don't know which one I will choose. If I had to do it again I would have gone straight for the bypass or the MGB. I am a binge eater and I am always hungry after doing the VSG, because of this I think I would have benefited from getting the byor the MGB from thr beginning. If I could have done it differently, I wish I could have e gotten my surgery here in the USA. My friends who got their surgery here in the USA all get south support pre and post op from their doctors and the staff. The support they get is amazing. The one thing I would do differently this time when or if I get the revision is work out a lot post op. I struggled with lack of energy and enthusiasm and did not work out post vsg. As far as the diet goes, IDK, I am still trying to figure this part out. I hope the next Dr. I chose for revisional surgery's office will provide better support when it comes to nutrition and diet post op. Or if they dont, and I have not paid extra for it, I wonfeel this bad. As far as Dr. Ortiz goes, I highly recommend him, he is super sweet and an excellent surgeon. Sorry for the delay in reply, this app doez not show that I have new messages, I some how found your comment back to my post accidentally. Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

  19. Hi, my surgery went well. Dr. Ortiz is great at his craft. Most of the staff are fluent at English and the facility is nice and clean. They will take good care of you. Dr. Ortiz and OCC are on the pricey side when it comes to bariatric surgery in Tijuana. They promise up to 5 yrs of nutritionist counseling which I found useless. Their nutritionist there really does not do much. Infact I am very disappointed as I feel like they never provided the a more structured guideline to how what you post op diet after your stomach heals should be. They never told me how calories I should have per day, how many ounces of food I should eat per meal. Every time I would ask, the answer was there is no limit as long as I meet my protein goal foe the day. Well that did not work for me. part of the reason why I paid extra to go to occ was to get better support post op with my diet, and unfortunately I don't feel like that was true. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions. Have you scheduled your surgery yet? Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

  22. Wow, your so educated about bariatric procedures. I am so impressed. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer all my questions so thoroughly. I was under the impression the reason why the mini bypass was called mini when compared to the full bypass was because the mini had less intestinal bypass. So I guess was wrong and the by pass has more intestinal bypassing? When comparing the full to mini bypass, is the stomach made smaller in the full bypass? Would you say the full bypass has more restriction than the VSG? As I mentioned before, I have a life long problem with binge eating and I am always hungry. The VSG did minimal to help me in these two area, hence me looking into other surgical options. Right now my Dr. put me on contrave and it seems to be helping, but I don't want to be dependent on medication forever, I was hoping I could find a surgery that could provide me with a permanent fix. Btw, I am 5ft 7 inches tall, at my highest weight before the surgery I had gone up to 235 lbs. I had the VSG in June 2019. I managed to get down to 165 lbs, but took me teo years. Than I started gaining weight again I went up to 185 lbs. My dr has put me on contrave for the past 3 months and I have gone down to 170 lbs. I was neve able to reach my goal weight of 140 lbs. I live in fear of gaining all the weight back and having this vsg fully fail all the time. You look amazing, I wish I looked as good as you.
