Prepare you're own meal like a Protein Shake or some peanuts or some berries or anything that's healthy I went thru 9 weeks diet myself with surgery tomorrow.
You have to be strong and committed to this process if youre going to have any success post op

I am about 6-7 hours post op, so may still have some Meds in me, so take this for what it’s worth.

The day started with 6-8 inches of snow (I live in the Denver area) and had to check in at 530AM. Amazingly everyone on my surgical team was on time and very bright eyed and enthusiastic.

Operation started right on time at 730, work up in post op with some discomfort in my diaphragm area....and that’s it. Incision’s don’t hurt, and the diaphragm may may have been has, because that it slowly going away.

Pretty exhausted, dozed most of the afternoon but doing shockingly well. Hoping that’s not just the meds talking, but so far a very pleasant experience!

Thank you @Panda333. I was worried about the Protein at first. Today I was advanced to the pureed stage diet for the next 4 weeks. Definitely had to add some mirlax to my twice daily colace LOL. I've never been looking forward to a BM so much in my life 😂😂

No offense to those in the thread but there is a large group on this community thats in the "im never eating chocolate again" camp and for good reason it made them obese. My question is if your will power was really that strong why did you need the surgery if you had the ability to quit everything cold turkey? My will power stinks I was never going to be able to achieve results without surgery to use as a tool.

Nobody ever got fat eating a cookie once in a while. They got fat eating the whole box. Gues you know which camp I am in . I fully believe those that quit cold turkey are major relapse risk.

It's my go to vinaigrette (I make 1L batches of the stuff).
I think I've posted the recipe a couple times already on this thread, but here it is again anyway
    1 tbsp = 6 cals, 0.2g Protein, 0.3g NET carbs, 0.6g fat
*NOTE 1: the label below for chicken broth mix reads "15g (1 tsp) chicken broth mix", but go by the 15g (which is actually 3 tsps)
*NOTE 2: often I squeeze some fresh lemon on top of the entire salad for more "freshness"

So we went to my MIL this weekend and here are a couple of photos
It’s sooooooo nice to be able to blend into a crowd of strangers and not be the fat chick anymore.
Also, I’m able to wear this OU shirt my sister got me over 10 years ago. It FINALLY fits me

The evidence is pretty compelling for adopting a whole food plant based (WFPB) lifestyle. Basically, there are 4 food groups: vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains. You can throw in some nuts and seeds as well. Nothing processed, no sugar. I already eat a very clean diet - no processed food, nothing artificial, no sugar, lots of veggies, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes. But I think I am going to try to gradually move away from animal based foods. I have inflammatory issues, and I am hoping this will help reduce those blood markers that continue to be high. I also have seen the evidence for improved athletic performance after making the switch. There is better arterial flow and muscle performance with a plant based diet. So wish me luck. This will not be a sudden change. But I have actually been feeling a bit of upset tummy lately after eating fish, meat and eggs. I used to eat a lot of eggs (from my own backyard hens), but since surgery, they just do not sit well. cheese and yogurt will be my challenges, I'll have to try some soy yogurt and see if it works for me. I already use pea Protein for about half of my protein supplements. I will definitely keep up with my protein requirements and will always be taking my Vitamins.
Tonight we had a stew of 3 kinds of lentils, white Beans, millet, sorghum, sweet potato, and garden snow peas on a bed of spiralized zucchini. Even my carnivore husband got a second helping. Yes, it seems like there are a lot of carbs, but I am at goal now and having a struggle not to lose more weight, so this seems like a good time to try this. Any thoughts?

You are doing great @Nonnaof4 getting your Protein in! I'm a slow loser myself.....I had a little set back and ended up in the hospital for a few days. ER said I have a partial obstructed bowl but surgeon says that's normal for a bypass patient. They did a bunch of xrays (arghhh) and said my GI tract was okay...just inflamed where they made the intestine/pouch connection. Normal for 2 weeks Post op... Guess I had some bad Constipation ?? Drink your Water and take your colace daily folks!
Otherwise I'm good now just tired a lot, not from lack of sleep lack of energy.

I'm one week post op tomorrow and today is the best I have felt. I'm able to get all my Protein in usually around 80-90grams. I just started trying to do a couple small Snacks, yogurt and homemade sugar free pudding. I have no interest in food whatsoever so I'm basically eating because I know I have to. I'm down a couple pounds. I was hoping for more but I will take any loss I can get.

Had my RNY yesterday morning and it went great. No pain except some gas pain which I'm trying to walk off. I will be so happy when they let me have something to drink in the morning. Nothing for the first day. (It's 1:30am) I can't sleep.< br>

I had my surgery on the first as well. Feeling great! Some gas pain of & on but otherwise ok. 4 incisions & not sore. I found sleeping on my stomach helps with the gas. Hospital BC In Mexico (BariatricPal) is a great place to have your wls done!

the stuff the dietitian told you is puzzling. She must not have much experience with bariatric patients. First, you have to take Vitamins for the rest of your life regardless of which surgery you have. And yes - it seems overwhelming at first, but you get used to the routine very quickly. I don't find the Vitamin routine difficult or confusing AT ALL. I'm pretty much on autopilot with them.
also, the 1/4 C thing is really just during the first few weeks after surgery. At four years out, although my portion sizes are that of a standard "light eater", they're not 1/4 C or anywhere near as restrictive as they were for the first few weeks or months post-surgery. No one would be able to tell anymore that I'm a gastric bypass patient if they were to watch me eat. I eat about the same amount as my "light eater" normal weight friends - which is of course much less than what I ate pre-surgery - but certainly more than 1/4 C. For example, for lunch today I plan to have half a turkey sandwich and a side salad with light dressing. For dinner I'm thinking a "Beyond Meat" sausage with sauerkraut wrapped up in a Flat Out Fold It wrap....maybe with another side salad (although one of those sausages usually fills me up - so I may skip the salad). About 3 oz of meat plus some vegetables or a side salad with light dressing is a pretty standard dinner. At restaurants I'll often order an appetizer - or if I'm really hungry, I'll get an entree and take half of it home. Really no different than my normal weight friends who are watching their calories.
so suffice it to say, you're getting incorrect info from that dietitian. She must have some bias toward the sleeve - or just hasn't really worked with bariatric patients before.
Edited to add that I've been hanging out on various bariatric boards for about five years. The diets for sleeve and bypass patients are the same - both early post-op and years out. As for vitamins, some surgeons have VSG patients taking fewer than bypass patients (but others, like mine, have them on the exact same vitamin regimen). But either way, you are taking vitamins for life.
Pardon my French, but I think the dietitian you saw is full of crap...

So it was inflammation then and not a stricture? ((hugs)) On powering on. Bravo!
OP, maybe try doing ice chips from Sonic??? And sucking on sf popsicles. And see if small sips (trickles) of warm broth can get through?

Also, are you constipated? Are you SURE you aren't constipated???
At 3 weeks I wound up in the ER, cuz of projectile vomiting. About the only time I've puked to date PO. And it was cuz it was official. I was FOS! ROFLMAO! Seriously. I was SOOOO backed up, that nothin else could get down my piehole! Once I broke down the Rosemary's Baby Bad kinds of BMs (for dayssssssss), all was golden mahnnnnn. LOL. *snort*
