  1. This is so incredibly selfish and irresponsible. And also can have potential health ramifications for the patient. You don’t want to undergo surgery which includes intubation when your lung function is compromised.
  2. It can be part of a whole negative feedback loop. You’re depressed, spend more time in bed or on the couch or self soothing with food, so gain weight, which makes you feel worse about yourself so you isolate more. There’s a big study out of the UK that says the initial prescription for depression should be physical activity rather than medication (although meds are often necessary). It doesn’t have to be rigorous exercise, just getting out for a daily walk is a great start, or even just gentle stretching. (I’m a psych nurse)

Tonight’s date night dress with the guy who is now official boyfriend status ❤️ He planned a great night at a wonderful Italian restaurant in Portland. Good food, but even better company!

Holy wow, that is an amazing dress and you look great in it! Love you in bright colors @Arabesque!

You look fabulous @Arabeque! Absolutely love the whole outfit. How cold is it this time of year? We will hit 100°F here in Portland, OR today!
  6. Have you tried unsweetened apple sauce? That should be ok pre-solids, and give you a taste of fruit.
  7. Me too! Mine were awful. I had an arm lift and am so happy. I now feel comfortable in short sleeves, spaghetti straps, and even strapless dresses.
  8. Skin can be dealt with too. Check out the plastic/reconstructive surgery forum. Lots of us on here had a variety of skin removal surgeries (myself included). I agree with @Sleeve_Me_Alone though, even if I hadn’t had the extra skin removed I’d still trade be thrilled to be happy & healthy.

Oh gosh, I have to wear all the stuff I bought during COVID and never got a chance to wear first!

Date night. It’s # 5 with this guy, I’m thinking he’s a keeper! With and without a denim jacket. Our PNW weather hasn’t caught on yet that it is supposed to be warm & sunny.
  11. That is one beautiful cocktail! Looks so refreshing :)
  12. Happy hour instead of dinner dates work well for a first date. Sharing a appetizer is an easy way to limit the appearance of left behind food. Even dinner dates I often just order an appetizer,
  13. Thank you-you too! Being new to the area I don’t really know people in healthcare outside of Unity. It is a crazy time to work in the medical field for sure!
  14. Right now at the Unity Center but looking to make a change :)
  15. I had my VSG surgery and lived in the Seattle area my whole life until moving down to Portland at the end of last year.
  16. I might steal your idea though and try the cherries and sesame brittle on my cottage cheese!
  17. I can still tolerate yogurt stomach wise, but it has started to smell weirdly metallic to me. Any flavor, any brand. I quit eating it and now have cottage cheese instead. ?‍♀️
  18. It’s not uncommon to have heat or cold intolerances post op. Some can only tolerate ice cold things, others only warm. It’s ok to have everything warm! Warm water/tea counts as fluid intake. Can you tolerate broth? Bone broth is nutritious with a good amount of protein. Some of the unflavored protein powders will mix in to a hot beverage. Sugar free hot chocolate might be a good option for you. As long as you are staying hydrated at this point you’ll be ok. Just keep trying new things in TINY amounts, your tolerances should increase as time goes on. If day after day you can’t meet your hydration goals reach out to your team again. I went many weeks in the beginning only getting in about 300 calories/day. I’m now 3 years out, have met goal, and can tolerate most anything. It gets better!
  19. Just know that it gets better! It helped me to be really organized tracking my water and protein shake intake, and having a little project to keep my mind off things in those first few days (I had a big kind of goofy paint by numbers poster I worked on). The first three days were the worst and then each day after that I felt a little better and a little better. Hang in there, you’ll get there.
  20. My favorite way to eat a burger! And I agree, sweet potato fries are yummy :)
  21. I’m so very sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  22. Wow, those are beautiful loaves of bread!
