    Vacation time!

As long as your incisions are healed you’ll be fine. Does the place you’re staying have a refrigerator? I’d recommend stocking up when you arrive on healthy drinks and snacks so you can stay on plan.

    Dating post WLS and PS

For sure! Being a psych nurse I have a highly attuned BS detector 😂

    Red meat consumption

Like those above, red meat has always been fine for me. I love a good steak! (Just a much smaller serving now). My only meat I can’t eat much of is pork. It’s so dense, I can only get in about 2 oz before I get my full signals.

    Negative reactions to getting plastics.

I only needed the stronger pain meds for a couple days, and then was fine with alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen.

    Abdominal binder

Like catwoman, I wore one after my tummy tuck, but not after my VSG.

    Not Yet Decided: NEED HELP

I’m going to reiterate what was said by catwoman. I also hated vomiting. It is so much easier now! No heaving stomachache, nearly no acid. I’ve had it happen a few times when I’ve had one bite too many. It comes up easy and you feel way better once you do. It’s a good lessen to learn, to slow down and not take just one more bite when your body tells you it is full.

    What was your tipping point?

My tipping point was being lisinopril for hypertension. I’m an RN, so we’ll know the health consequences of hypertension. This was my wake up call. Within three months of my WLS my blood pressure was back to normal and I was off meds. I also was able to stop using my cpap as I no longer have sleep apnea. Besides all the vanity reasons, my improved health has been an amazing benefit of having WLS.

    Too old for plastics?

I got mine in January, just a few weeks before I turned 51. I’m so glad I did. I feel and look way younger. No regrets, it does wonders for my ego :)

    Loose skin

It may or may not happen, as mentioned above by such factors as genetics & how long you’ve been overweight. I had a ton. I’d take every flap of skin any day for the 140 lbs lost. I had plastic surgery in January to take care of it. Upside of that is I now have the boobs of a 25 year old at age 51 😂

    Miss Chugging Water

It only took me a few weeks to have bigger than sips of water. After 3-4 months I was back able to drink at my normal pace. Now at nearly two years out I drink on average 120 oz of water/day with no problem.

    Abdominal Hernia

Is it a hiatal hernia or an abdominal wall muscle hernia? Hiatal hernias can be fixed during your WLS. Abdominal wall muscle hernia repairs are often done as part of a tummy tuck.

    Artificial Sweeteners?

I’m 21 months post VSG. I’ve been having artificial sweeteners through my whole process. I’m down 139!lbs. My blood sugar and A1C levels are normal.

    229... my first real milestone

7 lbs a month is great! That is 84 lbs over a year, putting you at 145 this time next year. Keep up the good work, make sure you’re tracking your intake, following your program, moving your body, and keeping well hydrated and you’ll hit your next goal in no time.
  17. Sitting here this morning in my chair doing some reading. I glanced over to my table and saw the current yummy chocolate bar I’m working on. It has eight segments, each one 56 calories. I am now to a point where I can allow myself this treat and control it. Where back in the day this bar (plus likely quite a few other sweets) would be gone in a day, now I savor one square in the evening while I read. One bar now lasts 8 days! I actually have to keep it sealed in a baggie to keep it fresh. In addition to all the other benefits, my sleeve has given me the control over food that I never had before.

    ChubRub's Plastic Surgery Thread

Looking awesome! Are you still wearing your faja or other compression? I quit about a month ago, didn’t seem to make any difference. Your TT scar is fading faster than mine, but even so I’m thrilled with my results. I’ve dropped 13 lbs post op (he said he took off 11 lbs of skin, so a true loss of just 2 lbs weight), don’t see any issues due to that.

    Smoking wax/weed post surgery

Prices vary wildly around the country. For what I had done I would have paid $30,000-$40,000 in Seattle. I found an excellent surgeon in Miami and paid $16,000. Even with travel expenses it was far cheaper.

    Smoking wax/weed post surgery

I didn’t even try to get my insurance to pay. Their criteria is you need a year of documentation of failed treatment for skin infections/rashes before they’ll pay. I had none of that.

    Smoking wax/weed post surgery

Yes. A tummy tuck, arm lift, breast lift & augmentation.

    Smoking wax/weed post surgery

I don’t smoke, but I’ve had cbd/thc gummies-I used them for pain after my plastic surgery. No issues, no munchies. They just helped with the pain and made me sleepy which was exactly what I needed.

    Made it to Onederland

    Such an amazing feeling-congrats!

    Plastic surgery pricing and insurance

If you do look in to Miami, make sure you do your research. There are super cheap, high volume places that have high complication rates. I chose a surgeon that was on the higher end cost wise for that area but has a private practice and an excellent safety record.

    Plastic surgery pricing and insurance

I didn’t bother. My insurance required a year of documentation of failed treatment for infections under my hanging belly skin. Then they pay only for a panniculectomy (no muscle repair). I had a tummy tuck, arm lift, and breast lift/augmentation in Miami in January and paid $16,000. Prices vary wildly around the country. I would have paid $30,000-$40,000 for the same surgery in Seattle.
