We went out to Outback while on a short vacation when I was 3 weeks out. I wasn't planning on eating because I didn't think there was anything I could have. The waitress talked me into having some whipped potatoes and she said no charge! Turned out alright, I felt fine and that was my first meal on the pureed diet.

I went out to eat at like 2 months? When I could eat some solid foods. It was kinda' dumb because I managed 2 cheese cubes and a chicken wing, which had Old Bay on it and I choked on the spices and then didn't have any Water since I didn't think it was OK to drink while eating. Pro tip: Get a drink anyway in case you start choking.

2 weeks post op (I was in soft foods stage, we didn't have a puree stage) I had like 2 oz of a chipotle bowl. I've also had some BBQ (really soft brisket) without issue. Breakfast places if you order an egg a la carte should be fine as well.

A month - Order a appetizer or a high end meal
For examples a shrimp cocktail is my go to meal when i go out, or the Ahia tuna - You will never eat it all no matter what you eat unless you are out of ordinary
I go for the fish first seems to be the smallest portions on the menu or any shellfish - Due to food costs these are usually the smallest portions, I have a culinary degree so i focus on things like
Sea bass - Shrimp - Crab - In the seafood
Filet - Steak medallions- Hanger steak = Red meat
Do not touch the roles, Do not get a salad and the sides are pretty much a waste of time - Be real careful on the prep of the food, Most places use a ton of oil, pan sprays, and coatings to do there unique twist on the meal. The sauces and chemicals will not work out well - Keep it simple
But if done right you can have 1/3 and two more meals for the next two days.

Sorry to hear you're struggling. It wasn't that long ago I was right there with ya. It's definitely a process and can wear on you physically and mentally. If you're tracking with a food diary it may benefit you speak to your team for support as well as to address any issues you're having. This is a tough journey but you can do it... you're not alone!!! Congrats on your surgery!!!!!

You are crashing but STOP - Read my long post in my history. Unfortunate you were not ready for this. However you can recover easy. I crashed hard also. Get your head fixed and you have to move forward, The fix is there and once you get your head on straight the rest will come.
I crashed just has hard or harder feel free to read my post, It is ugly I fully understand. Take a breath get help and get the train on the tracks,
Dont worry about the freakin Protein and Water, Just chill and let Nature take its course, You are wasting to much time obsessed about those silly things, Yes you need them but you need your mental health in line as a priority.
Reach out and read my long post a week or so ago. I also Screwed up and was not ready mentally, I fixed it and you will also, Then this will be the best decision of your life

I definitely relate...Just had bypass on October 1. I wanted the sleeve for me and so did my primary but my surgeon said I needed the bypass because I was over 300 lbs. The sleeve is for smaller people he said. The bypass is known for it's complications which is why I didn't want it and of course...I got the complications. I've had so many complications and you can prepare all you want mentall and with psych appointments but nothing "really" prepares you for this. Yes, I miss real food. I'm also looosing sooo slow. Here is the thing, I already did this to myself and now I guess I need to make the best of it. This surgery landed me in the hospital 2 weeks later. Thank god I had insurance I saw those bills. $85,000.00 for the hospital on the surgery and $35,000.00 for the 2nd hosptial visit were there was a tear in where the doctor sewed me up. Sorry to digress getting off topic. But hang in there and know you are not the only one. xo - Panda

This liquids-only early-recovery period won't last long compared to the rest of your life. I can't remember who said "This too shall pass", but it kept me going during the early days. When I did switch to solids, I found that just a small amount made me feel full, so I had to use distraction techniques instead of eating - reading, jigsaws, computer games, drawing, walking, repairing clothes, needlework, painting - anything that kept my fingers out of the fridge!
Remember that this is the hardest time, but you will become accustomed to the changes. Best of luck!

Aww I wish I could give you a big hug right now 😢 I believe we've all had buyers remorse after this surgery... it's a real thing lol I'm 8 months post op and my first 5 months were tough. I can truly say I've been through the fire. It gets better over time. Your stomach has to heal, so take it slow... experiment with foods and drinks. I found Premier Protein shakes to be good eventhough some surgeons don't want us to drink it (something about concentrate version). I did what worked for me and I survived 😁🙌 This is a MENTAL journey and it will get better. Good luck lady 🤗

My surgery was 11/4. I'm feeling the same. I'm allowed broths so that helps to break it up a little. Yes, I'm anxiously waiting to go to pureed stage! Stay strong all!

Try Unjury or Premier Protein shakes. I like Unjury better though. I’m 2 weeks post op and quite tired of this clear liquid phase. Sigh...😔

Everyone loses at a different pace. On Average, I've lost 0.45# a day for the last 338 days. However there were times over the last 11 months where I didn't lose anything for 2-3 weeks, and then all of a sudden I would drop 10 pounds.

There's actually more and more research showing that those who weigh themselves often, even daily, do better and keep the weight off longer. Google it, you'll see lots of info and data. Thank you for your weight loss stats. I hope this is the 3 week plateau I hear about.
And I wish I could follow your advice and just forget food. But I enjoy food and I don't plan on giving it all up forever. I'll work and eat within my limits. I hope that it's never uncomfortable for me to eat, otherwise I'll regret this surgery no matter how much weight I lose.

Enjoy the journey and get you head on straight
Famous first week line ------ Walk, Water, walk water sip water walk sip walk water sip walk water sip walk

Hi everyone. I’m 4 days post op, home from hospital and venturing into this new world with a mixture of apprehension and excitement.
If anyone is wondering why I’ve chosen to join in the chat with people so far from home I honestly don’t have any one particular reason I lurked around a few sites and felt drawn to here primarily because it has a nice feeling; one of mutual respect, and a big dollop of honesty.
I feel like I’m in a bit of a surreal world right now as I mourn the loss of my best friend, food, and Celebrate the demise of my mortal enemy, food. Maybe demise isn’t the best terminology to use as I still face its ever present place in my life. For now I’m taking each day as it comes, and as it’s very early days I’m prepared not to take my emotional thoughts too seriously, assuming my judgement is fairly impaired at this time. If truth be told I hover between being “fine” and being pretty tearful. So far no regrets however, so I see that as a positive.
I was wondering how quickly I could start to take on some light to moderate exercise. I’d quite like to go for a gentle swim but not sure when would be appropriate. I don’t want to expose myself to infection, or find myself totally exhausted by the walk to my local swimming pool (about half a mile).
My second question is on people’s experiences of how long they needed to take off work. I’m automatically signed off for two weeks, but wondering if the realty is different.
Anyway hello again from me. Apologies in advance if any of my questions appear on the naive side 😊

gwoodgm reacted to MeowAMR in 11 days post op no restriction with liquids at all just tried yoghurt today no issues either??
Agree... I didn't feel restriction until i had purees which was a week after surgery. At first it was 2oz of puree and it would hurt when I got full. Then I moved to 3oz maybe a month later and now at 3 1/2months i can probably get in like 5oz+. The hurt when full went away at about 1 1/2months and now I can just tell when I'm full. I've lost 51lbs in 3 1/2months.

Same thing going on here too. I'd pee 10 to 15 times a day before surgery. Now I'm usually about 4 to 5 times a day with about 80 ounces of water a day. I dont feel like I'm retaining water either but there's no way I'm peeing out the amount I'm taking in. I'm also in a weight loss stall. It started over a week ago.
