I get cold all the time. I used to always run hot, but now I need a jacket or some sort of sweater to wear at night. I just figure I get to buy and wear more good looking coats and sweaters.

Oh, all the time. When I first was out of surgery, it was worse, though. I think the amount of hormones rushing around in your body has something to do with it, but it does settle down over time. Now that I've lost a lot of weight, it's just because I don't have that fat layer warming me anymore. Not complaining, though. I live in the desert, so it's kinda nice that I'm not miserable all the time now.

I have always been hot natured, I thought the weight kept me hotter than the average person. And I live in the south and the summers are pretty brutal. But I am almost a week post op and I am cold all the time. I turned my air temperature up but I have to be mindful of other people in my household. I walk around with a cardigan on even when the temperature is in the high 80s/low 90s. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I start my Vitamins tomorrow, maybe that will help.

I felt like I was literally going to faint during the last week of full liquids, I added in a few pureed/soft foods in conjunction with the full liquids and immediately felt better. I don't want you to deviate from your plan, I shared this information to say that my body needed a little bit more at that point in my journey. I would also consult with your bariatric team to determine whether or not you are ready.
Ariel (my stomach) loves refried Beans and a scrambled egg. Not cooked together, in separate meals. Protein is our friend. The cream Soups were delicious, but didn't givr me the substance and nutrients that I needed. I'm still drinking Protein Shakes, I only had my procedure on 3/3/20.

I've told my mother and a few close friends of my decision, and, at least on the surface, they've all been super supportive. My mom had the sleeve done 5 years ago and it very pleased with it, and another of my friends is going through the process right now as well (we call ourselves the "No Tummy Buddies" lol!). The two others I've told have said they are excited for me and hoping the process goes smoothly.
I'm not planning on telling very many people, only those I trust and I spend a lot of time with so they aren't surprised by the change...I'm not ashamed, but I don't need unnecessary opinions from people who don't matter in my day-to-day life either.

I didn't tell anyone about my sleeve surgery in Mexico 9 1/2 years ago except my physician. I'm revising to a bypass due to GERD on 6/29. GERD gave me an esophageal stricture which is being repaired at the same time the bypass is done. I'm at my goal weight, so no one should notice anything. Your surgery is no one's business but yours, and your decision to tell or not is yours as well. I'm just a very private person and don't like people asking what I consider to be personal questions.

I think 600 is pretty average by that point. Much lower and you wouldn't be getting enough nutrients. You'll lose the weight - i ended up losing all of mine...

    Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is doing great . I wanted to come here and share an update with you all. I had VSG in December and I’m so glad I did. Best decision ever! As of today I have lost 67 pounds and I’m am officially a healthy BMI! I can’t believe my clothes are a size small and extra small. I used to wear 2x! I am so happy. So much hard work and dedication goes in to this. This is def not the easy way out. A lot of sweat and tears to reach my goal. I workout every day. I purchased a bowflex since the gyms have been closed for a while now. I no longer eat meat, that was a huge change for me. Suddenly my stomach can’t handle meat at all. So I’m a pescatarian now. I still have at least a Protein Shake a day. My doctor said if I enjoy them I can continue to drink them, so I do. I used to be obsessed with sweets, I no longer like anything sugary. I went through a crazy Hair loss for a few weeks. I was getting concerned since it was so much hair loss. Luckily it seems to have subsided. I no longer need my asthma medication daily, I have been on remission from RA and I haven’t had Migraines in months! Even my GERD got better 😊. It feels great to see my doctors and have them congratulate me on my progress. There were plenty of times where stalls happened, or I felt I wasn’t losing as fast as other people. That’s when I took a step back and stopped comparing my journey to others; I started enjoying mine. I realized it’s not a race and eating healthy and being active I will surely lose the weight at my own pace.
Sending everyone lots of positive thoughts and vibes. I hope you all are healthy and keep pushing. ❤️

Krimsonbutterflies reacted to Prestonandme in How to take regular meds Post Op
Yes, you'll be able to take them. But I wanted to put in a good word for BariatricPal Multivitamin ONE. (This isn't an ad!) Prior to surgery, I had been taking several Vitamins but post-surgery I switched to BariatricPal Multivitamin One. I was worried that my blood test results would show low levels of necessary vitamins because so many other WLS patients said they had continued to take lots of different vitamins separately. But it's a year later and I just had my one-year blood test results, and everything is perfect. And the price for BPMO is truly reasonable.

I am just about 6 years post VSG! I told my immediate family- spouse, kids, parents.
I told my immediate co-workers because my job is such that nobody could cover me and there were many inquiries about why I was taking 5 weeks off.
I didn't tell anyone else. Not siblings, close cousins. Nobody. No old friends, nobody. I still don't freely share the info unless I'm asked by somebody who heard it elsewhere.
I have an extended family that is VERY judgmental, who live through the eyes of female value is ranked by looks, hair, clothes, car, etc. Never mind that I have 2 master's degrees, and half way done with a doctorate and am a practicing Nurse Practitioner. Didn't matter.
So even now, it is still an identity that I have- a bariatric patient- but not something I yell from the rafters.

Telling coworkers is not an good idea. I did my surgery last June and I didn't tell them as any thing. They notice I loosing weight. I told them the same. I don't cares about anyone

I am a fairly private person too, no one knows about my revision.
Just because someone asks doesn't mean you need to answer...ignore the question, change the subject etc.

I'm so glad to see this topic because I am not planning on telling anyone. Not my parents, not my siblings, and definitely not my coworkers. It is between me and my doctors.
My coworkers are obsessive about their weight and talk about their diets and workouts constantly. Several of us just went back to the office after working from home for two months, and they all spent the first hour talking about how much weight they lost and complimenting each other on their weight loss. They generally leave me out of it because I guess it's obvious I'm not into that. Funny thing is that I've lost 25 pounds in the last two months and nobody noticed. I'm a very private person in general, so they usually leave me alone, but I'm afraid they're going to start asking questions once I start losing rapidly after surgery. They're very brazen about discussing weight; one time, a coworker straight up asked our boss how much he weighs!

These 4 people are 3 too many and if you could get away with it, i would just tell that person that you're having hernia surgery (SX). I had Band SX in 2009 (232#) when WLS was still "taboo". I told my now ex husband, two sons, and two friends. I thought surely they could keep a secret...... NOPE. I was blindsided one day with..... Hey i heard you had WLS. I was like a deer in headlights. Then i had to fess up. When she (band) was removed in 2017 (143#) i made it no secret that it was gone.
Fast forward.....2019 (173#) i decided to revise to the sleeve due to the weight gain (30#) and I had the money to do it (divorce settlement 14K). The only person that knows is my husband. Everyone was told i had Hernia SX, which was true. I did have a double hernia repair. I went in on 8/28/19 Wednesday and i was back at work on monday. by my wedding day 9/26/19, i was down 20lbs. People didn't think anything of the WL because they knew i was dieting for the wedding. Today I'm at 125-127. My weight has become a nonissue.
KNOW THIS..... if you tell more than one..... it will get out. People will give you their "unsolicited" advice and or thoughts. You will get the .... Why? can't you lose it the "natural" way? I know a lot of people the SX didn't work WLS, you might die.... and the best one.... You don't weight enough for WLS..... Just a few to let you know.
I love the fact that NO ONE knows this time... SO MUCH BETTER.

🥰That’s another negative tape that plays in my mind, too! “You’re losing so much slower than these other people and you’re on your way to wasting this surgery”!!!
We’re not wasting a dog gone thing, Rjan!I 😅l love what Cheeseburgh shared with us above—-that around 5 months she really tightened things up, avoided processed foods, kicked up exercise, etc. And we’re not even 3 months in yet!
Our first month was just recovering, so we’re only 7 weeks beyond that! I’m really just now feeling more energy, pretty well figuring out what I can eat, what sets well with me and sustains the energy I need, which foods give me the most nutritional bang for the buck, and which don’t. Which foods/routines may be contributing to my Constipation issue😩! We’re getting better and better at this.👍.
So really? We’re just NOW getting our groove going!! We can take it from here, kick it up, smile at and love ourselves and log in here WHENEVER we need a pick me up!
We’re NOT gonna waste this surgery!! So not!!!💪💝😃👏

I lost very slowly also but I got there. After 5 months or so I really cleaned up my diet, same amount of calories 700-800 range. I cut back on processed foods and limited any starchy type carbs. I also joined a gym and started working out 5 days a week and that really helped. It was still slower than most people and it got frustrating at times.
