Bone broth or regular, Pre-surgery diet help
Either is fine. I prefer Bone Broth -- specifically, Chicken Bone Broth by Kitchen Basics. I love the taste. It's like roasted chicken. They have one with Tumeric, but I didn't care for it. The plain chicken is great. The beef is fine, but chicken is my favorite. I find it more filling/satisfying than regular broth.

New to this page. Had sleeve done 11/15/19
One of my surgeon's patients lost her mind (his words) & scarfed down TWO SLICES of pizzas less than 2 weeks after her surgery! She ended up in the ER. As far as I know, she's OK, but learned a painful lesson!

Not weird at all. I didn't feel hunger until my 3-4th week or so. I'd go into Mom's kitchen right after she baked a cake & yes, it smelled delish - but I wasn't interested in or wished for it either! That sure made things easier!

Having a flaming meltdown... help!!!
I had my surgery in July. I turned 68 in Sept. You're never too old!!

Freaking out a little bit
#1 - Get off the scale! #2 - Re-read #1!! Seriously. All results are not reflected on the scale. You'll notice changes in your clothes. Other NSV (Non-Scale Victories) will be things like sitting in a chair with armrests & getting up without dragging the chair with you. Relax - it'll happen.

WELCOME, CRYSTAL!! I was one of the lucky ones with very little pain. I had my surgery on 7/22/2019. I spent 1 night in the hospital. I had some discomfort, but no real pain. I took a pain pill the 1st night home. After that, Tylenol for a couple of nights, then nothing. You are not alone! There are lots of us here who can give you a ton of support, suggestions & answers to any questions. Don't be afraid to ask! One of my favorite teachers used to say, "The only stupid question is the unasked one!"

Apnea worse post-op?
WOW! $3000?!?!??! That's crazy!!

Apnea worse post-op?
I also had sleep apnea. However, a couple of years ago, I was never put on a CPAP. I was fitted for a mouthpiece that kept my lower jaw slightly forward when sleeping. The app that works in conjunction with it would register "Freight Train Snoring". Once I started using the mouthpiece, it registered moderate snoring & no stoppage. Since my surgery in July, I have had no problems! None or VERY light snoring. I'm SO rested when I get up in the morning & can go through the entire day without feeling tired. I'll be going for a new sleep study in a couple of months. I have a feeling I'll pass easily.

Protein water
I don't like the milky shakes & powders either. I'm sorry you're having a hard time finding something that works for you.

Protein water
What brand are you drinking? Before my surgery I was trying out Premier Protein Water, with no problem. However AFTERWARDS, I couldn't stand it! I found it to be much too sweet. I had to split the bottle & mix it with equal parts water. I found Protein 2O, which I find to be much better. The Grape & Berry flavors are my favorite. I don't care for the pineapple/coconut one as much. I get them from Rite-Aid. Perhaps a different brand might help.

Hey! Just introducing myself :)
Welcome!! I had my surgery in July. My ONLY regret is not having it done sooner! I am blessed with a lot of support from my family & friends. That helps make my journey easier. Between this site & lots of informative YouTube videos, I have felt encouraged, been inspired & become more determined to succeed.

I HATE I GOT THIS STUPID SURGERY!
I know what you mean. I don't care for the protein shakes either. That's why I drink Protein 2O. It's water & is easier to drink & get my protein in.

Hello from Scotland
Welcome!! I'd hold off from swimming until your incisions are totally healed. You're wise to be concerned about infections - especially if it's a public pool! There's a lot of info here & many helpful people. BTW- I'm part Scot. Clan MacLachlan. I actually have "Scotland the Brave" as my ringtone. LOL!
