I’d check with your doctor & dentist. Sometimes it might seem like one thing has nothing to do with the other. It’s better to be sure. Good Luck!

Hello!! Another Nancy here! My surgery is 2 days before yours... July 22. Right now I'm 288 pounds. My surgeon doesn't have a strict 2 week liquid pre-op diet. He instructed me to cut out carbs - no bread, Pasta, rice, etc. (You know, the GOOD stuff! LOL!)
That being said, I'm doing mostly liquids anyway - just to get used to it. I have a collection of Protein drinks - ranging from Premier Protein (available at Walgreens, CVS, etc) and protein sample packs I purchased here at the Bariatric Pal Store.
For inspiration, encouragement & tips, check out some of the YouTube videos by fellow sleevers. Some are REALLY good! One, Kimberly H, has her own channel as well as videos she does for Bariatric Pal. There are others, some funny, some boring... just try them out. Just search for VGS, Bariatric Sleeve, etc.WE GOT THIS!!!

I've had the OMG are you sick comments - because my surgery was in the winter when everyone hibernates around here and my neighbours hadn't really seen me for months. The truth is that I'm only *just* out of the Obese BMI and into the Overweight category - but people the same height as me but 20+ lbs lighter think I look too thin! Bizarre.
I'm going home to Ireland for my yearly visit in 2 weeks, and no one there has seen me since last summer, waaaay pre-op. I'm readying myself for the onslaught.
Have a great trip! Please report back about the reaction - good & bad - when everyone saw you.
LOL! You might walk pass them in the airport & laugh because they didn't recognize you! Now THAT would be both FUNNY & FUN!!
Safe travels!

Amen to that! I enjoy watching YouTube videos by others who have experienced Bariatric surgery. I especially appreciate the ones who emphasize that they’re relating THEIR journey, and that yours may differ. It helps to know what you MIGHT experience - even if not exactly.

I have a closet full of clothes I “outgrew”. I’m looking forward to being able to wear them again. I won’t have to buy anything for a while.

My mother & my sister were the only ones I was going to tell. I ended up telling a few church friends, mainly because one had the VGS done 10 years ago & the DIL of another had it done 2 years ago. I’m not really keeping a secret, but I’m not blasting it out all over either.

I have been living with pain for months due to a bad hip. We’ll see how a new pain feels.

YOU GOT THIS!!!! My date is 2 weeks after you - on 7/22 & I am P*U*M*P*E*D!!
You know what helped/inspired/encouraged me? YouTube videos!! Just search "VGS" "BARIATRIC" & "BARIATRICPAL" (YES!! BP has YouTube videos!) You'll see people who have gone through this whole thing! They tell you what you might experience, before & after. They offer tips. There are even some who were VLogging the DAY OF THEIR SURGERY!!! Also -- if you're not the squeamish type: there are videos of the actual surgery!! I found it fascinating, but I like watching that type of thing! LOL! Watch some of the videos- they really help!

I have a TON of stuff. Some from the BariatricPal Store, some not.
I have a lot of Protein juices & Soups - sampler packs from the BP Store. Batches of Bone Broth (Kitchen Basics) Beef & chicken. The Beef is OK, the chicken is delish! sugar free popsicles!! I've been buying them for a couple of months, every time they went on sale. This week they were 2 (18 in a box) for $5! My freezer looks like a store freezer display! I have about 14 boxes! My surgery date is 7/22! I'm ready! Let's go!tal reacted to this -
I’d like to go to Scotland & St Kitts. That’s where my mother’s family is from.

I’ve been to the Dead Sea. Do NOT put your face in that water! Would you want to pour a cup of salt in your eyes? Well, there ya go!

Hey, Sleeve Sister! My doctor isn’t as strict on the liquid diet 2 week pre-op as others. He said that I should avoid carbs- cut out the Pasta, bread, etc... you know, the “good” stuff. LOL! He allows soft foods, yogurt, scrambled eggs, etc. I’ll probably do what I did before my date was changes. Do the soft food thing for a week & switch to all liquid for the final week.

My original date of June 17 had to be cancelled because I failed my stress test, which in turn caused the surgery to be postponed. Everything’s OK now & I officially have a new date! July 22nd awaits! I’m excited, nervous & pumped all at once. The countdown begins!

I **LOVE** the sugar free popsicles! I used to eat them before. They were on sale a few weeks ago, so I now have about 10 boxes in my freezer!

I’m 67. My story is similar. I also have a bad hip- bone on bone + arthritis. I was originally scheduled for VGS on June 17. For my clearance, I had to take a stress test. I failed!! It turns out I had a blockage in one of the arteries in my heart!! Instead of the VGS on the 17th, I underwent a cardiac Catheterization on the 19th. So M waiting for the final OK from the cardiologist & my doctor so I can reschedule. I just want to get this whole thing over with!
