That is so weird. Scott, the coordinator at Dr. Henke’s office, is great! He emails you the requirements and goes over them with you before your first appointment. One of the first things he said was that Cigna didn't require a diet, and you only had to have one nutrition consult (which was true). And the letter from my doctor was really generic. She just said that I tried Weight Watchers, Atkins, and we had discussed my weight at her office. I definitely expected more hoops, but I didn’t get any!

Hey guys! This is my first post here! I just wanted to share that I’ve been approved by my insurance for VSG!! I have Cigna insurance, and I only had to have one nutrition recommendation, one psych recommendation, a letter recommending me for surgery from a doctor who isn’t the surgeon (my PCP provided this), and a letter from the surgeon recommending me for surgery. The whole process took a couple of weeks because of my schedule, but I got the green light! I DID NOT complete a 3 month or 6 month (or any months, for that matter) physician supervised diet. The letter from my PCP was very general and just listed that they had been monitoring my weight and all of the things I had tried at home (Atkins, Weight Watchers, etc...). Next is getting with the scheduled to get a date!! Good luck to everyone!
