cutiepie34 reacted to Makuahine in Boba drink 6 months out?
I have shared a boba drink with my husband... by share, I mean, I eat the boba and he drinks the drink. I can't eat much but a fee satisfies my cravings. I am almost at my year anniversary since surgery.

Got it! Perhaps then you could experiment by going to the bubble tea shop and requesting a sample of the pearls to see if you *like* it and if it sits well with you, maybe try making it yourself ( but a less calorically dense version)

Hi! Can you craft a sugarfree substitute?
As a rare treat (quarterly 😂) it *may not* pose a problem but if it becomes a weekly habit, its a lot of cals to drink
(A generic cal count - likely on the low side)
And a few articles to review:

But I would also like to add that we're all adults here capable of freewill and the choice is always yours
Good Luck 💙

cutiepie34 got a reaction from Tracyringo in Another Stall? Or is this it?
On the 19th of this month I will be 4 months post op. I only weigh myself once a week just so I won't become obsessed with the numbers but I did notice that my last few weigh ins have been the exact same weight. Pounds and ounces. Exactly the same. Is this yet another stall or at 4 months am I through losing? How is it possible to weigh exactly the same down to the ounces for weeks?

Nurse here too! Hard to have the energy without my daily coffee. I drink mine on the weak side so it isn't too acidic. I don't worry too much about the diuretic effect of coffee, which I think is the primary reason why surgeons don't want you taking it, they want all your Water to count. So just make sure you're getting plenty of water in too.

it depends on your plan. Surgeons are all across the board with this - there seems to be no consensus. Some never want you drinking it again - some are allowing it as soon as you're out of the hospital. Some say it's OK once you're three months - or six months - out. Some say it's OK in limited quantities (e.g. one or two cups a day). Or some combination of the above. My guess is given the lack of consensus, it's not the worst thing you can do (unlike taking NSAIDs or some other thing everyone agrees on), but you might want to check with your surgeon to see what he/she thinks.

Once you're on solid foods, absolutely you can.

I never drank one Protein Drink post-op. I ate high Protein yogurt and fairlife milk. I ate a few protein bars 3 weeks post-op and had no problems.
I'm 3 months post-op and get all my protein from food. No shakes or protein bars.
Good luck!!

I found some with 1g sugar, 21g of Protein, 190 calories, only thing I saw concerning was the carbs. It says 5g net carbs on the front but the back said 20g of carbs due to Fiber? Should the carbs be of concern?

those sugar, Protein, and calorie numbers are good. As for carbs - yes - a lot of them are fiber, thus it's only 5g net carbs. So the carb question kind of depends on your program. My plan wasn't an ultra-low carb one - it was kind of a balanced plan - and they would have been fine with that. Not sure about yours, so I'd check with your clinic. Even if they have you on an ultra-low carb plan, they may be OK with you counting net carbs rather than all carbs - but then again, they might not.
