  1. Yesterday was my first follow-up doctor's visit! I lost 16.2 pounds!!! YEAH! Of course, it was hard...but I made it through! This is just the beginning of my journey, but it is happening. The doctor told me that the weight will not come off as quickly for the next few months, at least, until I have my first fill. I am very happy with my progress, one of my boyfriends told me that my face looked smaller, but I couldn't see it...still can't but others said the same thing. I will be starting the walking portion within a week and I try to stay on course. I know it will be hard, but I am ready!!!!

I can't wait to give away my clothes to another fat chick!
  3. My band day will be on Feb 11th. I have told very few people and and folks that do know, I hope will respect my privacy and shut up. I really think there is a problem when you tell folks that you are going to have surgery and it may say that you can't lose weight on your own and you need help, poor you! That is the reason I tell very few folks and I am helped quite a bit with the blogs and websites. I know this is a lifestyle change and I think I'm ready (for my close-up!)

I'm excited for you!! Good luck!
  5. Well, I know I am a little different from all of you! But, I will tell you why. Right now, I have few "special friends" but no one in particular and I don't think it has to do with my weight, but I havent' really told any of them. I want to do this for myself...not because you may want to tell me that I am fine the way I am. But because I want to take my own life in my own way and in my own hands. My suggestion is when a big bowl of ice cream is offered, just say no thank you, with no other comment. I think with enough of these refusals, he may get the hint that you are serious and if you can't support me.....I'll support myself and I will be a better person!
  6. How much weight have you lost? It seems like you had a good experience...is the weight coming off? Are you exercising?
  7. How long to did you take off work (or resume your normal activities)?
  8. You didn't have to stay overnight? I was under the impression that you stayed overnight in the hospital or did you have the option? I live in STL and not too far away. I am really nervous and don't really know anyone that has had the surgery. However, the few people I have told, I believe they are waiting to see what my results are...and go from there. I think it is great that you have lost 30 lbs and keep up the good work. What was you initial weight and your goals? I'm sorry to be asking so many questions, but....
  9. How did everything go? I waited on my insurance 6-month requirement and I am due to be banded within 4-6 weeks. Would your recommend? Were there any downsides?
  10. I had a problem getting the podcast...I got an error message...am I missing something..I am really interested in the 5k program!
  11. I am jumping through hoops now and I meet all those requirement....it just depends on the plans!
  12. I have to do the 6 month requirement and it is a joke! I have been seeing my doctor for 3 and half months and we both know I need the surgery and my doctor gave me his blessing and a hug! I am ready and I just look at it as a bump in the road, but it won't deter the trip!
  13. My insurance company gave me the ok....in 6 months!! I have to do a 6 month doctor supervised diet prior to my surgery date. I am starting next week....I am a teacher, so I will have my surgery in January, when I can the days off. I was very disappointed, but I will go through the hoops to get to the lap prize!
  14. No, it really doesn't bother me. I think it gives me a chance to think what I want to do. I have done everything and have been approved by the doctor. I am not waiting on the insurance answer. I hope to have the surgery soon! I have made the mental decision.
  15. How long did the entire process take after you were approved by the doctor?
  16. I think I am having mine done at St. Alexis and I hope I can get mine done sometime this summer. I am a school teacher and I don't have that kind of time during the school year. I already have a long school year (last day June 26th!) and I want to be fully recovered by the middle of August! Good luck with the insurance!
  17. What how long did the entire process take? I heard they wanted you to go on a 6 month diet? Is that true?
  18. Boy, I really liked your days. I wanted to know blow-by-blow what is supposed to happen and you answered most of my questions.
  19. I haven't had the surgery yet! I hope to have it within the next 2 months during summer. I work at an extended school year...I don't get out until June 26 and we go back at the same time as everyone else. I am really nervous..I miss read you posting...smile! I really just want someone to say everything will be fine...but you life will not be the same, it will be better that you ever could be!
  20. I have mine psych evaluation conclusion on Wednesday! I had to keep a straight face....it took all I have to not to bust out laughing!!!
  21. Really!!!I am amazed? What grade do you teach?
  22. I am really nervous about telling my mom about the surgery, because she is really against it.....however, we are both obese and really, really need to re-evaluate our lives. I hope the conversation will not be that bad!
