  1. I was just tested for COVID last week and was negative.
  2. Ascitis is indeed no joke. They scanned me twice and it is still there. Due to the amount (small) and tricky location they haven’t t been able to drain/test. I’m seeing a couple liver specialists but no one has a clue. IBS symptoms basically loose stool and gas (that really starts acting up when I have anxiety). Are you experiencing this too?
  3. Hi everyone, I feel like we are the same person basically at this point. My symptoms and story are near identical and have been hospitalized twice and run every single medical test possible. I am all of the sudden completely out of energy and strength, have edema and ascitis, mentally I can’t focus on anything, go into periods of unmanageable anxiety, depersonaliztion, all In think about is food:’either restricting or binging. The doctors just tell me: eat more and it will be sorted because you restricted and lost too much so they just insist on me seeing the nut more often and increasing calories. I’m doing all they say and it’s worse, and regardless, every single vitamin, albumin, protein, etc level in my -multiple- blood and urine lab tests are and have been within range Beyond my physical syndromes (where there is a big IBS component that has gotten really bad too), my mind is just off. I have come to realize that this is being caused essentially by and endless cycle of binge eating, panic attacks, dumping syndrome and just compulsive behavior overall. I am today starting a leave at work because I can’t get anything done. Beyond the specialists and all medical tests I’ve started a psych treatment with Klonopin but all that does is increase the fogginess (but is allowing me to at least sleep a couple hours a night). This has been absolutely awful. I do feel that there psych component is key and is more the cause than consequence of all the physical symptoms but at this stage I’m not really sure what on earth happened to me. Would love to chat more with some of the folks in this thread
  4. Congratulations! Great job!!! How much did you lose since your surgery day?
  5. WOW that's an amazing loss. Congratulations!. What kind of exercise routine did you keep?
  6. Hi everyone! I'm 4 months post op (RNY) and I'm a little concerned regarding my weight loss journey in the upcoming months. The loss has started to slow down while I'm still very overweight and I'm worried about how to maintain a "normal" metabolism to be successful in long term maintenance. Would love to get your feedback as my nutritionist has not been very helpful in this sense. Some stats and specific concerns (sorry for the long post but I want to be thorough): Age: 28 yo female Height: 5'3 Starting weight: 297 lbs. Starting BMI: 52 Surgery weight (Dec '19): 259 lbs Current weight (4 months out): 191lbs. Current BMI: 34. Food: My daily average intake is of about 500 calories (450-650 range) and I get about 60 grams of protein (eat mostly protein and still use protein supplements). I follow my plan which is based on portion size and not weight or calories, but I weigh and track my intake because "eyeballing" doesn't really work for me. While I'm good in that range of food intake in terms of hunger, I could definitely eat more if "needed". I've been able to stick to my plan during coronavirus lockdown no problem. Exercise: Desk job. I do very light weight training about 3-4x a week and short walks on the treadmill 2x a week. I used to swim more often but now that's not a possibility. Other: I'm trying to up my water intake but it's about 40 - 65 oz a day. I take all my vitamins and supplements. I don't have diabetes or any hormonal issues that I'm aware of. While I have been consistently losing weight (60 pounds in 4 months), I'm starting to notice a slow down and have hit a couple stalls (one lasting 3 weeks). I want to make sure that I keep a good rate so naturally I thought about increasing exercise and maintaining my current diet (reducing is not a possibility) but I'm also concerned that: If I start exercising a lot now to try to speed it up, then as time progresses and I hit more stalls, they will be very hard to break as the exercise would have to be incremental and there is only so much time/energy/will power that I have. So do you recommend adding more exercise at this stage to maximize loss in the first months or should I "wait" until I need the extra kick? Same thing with food, by eating 500 calories a day, am I sabotaging future weight loss? It will be impossible for me to cut down on calories if I hit a stall. I'm also worried that as soon as I start increasing the calorie count I will gain a lot of it back or completely stop my weight loss. I know that 500 kcal a day is not sustainable in the long run. I have read so many threads trying to find an answer but there doesn't seem to be a right one. My nutritionist just tells me to "stick to portion size and allowed meals" and not look at calories when I ask these questions. My surgical team has told me to just follow her instructions and keep the focus on weight training. Any personal experiences, words of advise, etc would be highly appreciated. I'm starting to obsess over these concerns of balancing maximizing weight loss in the first months (which I understand are were biggest loss is achieved) and mid/long term success. I know comparing journeys is not ideal (it has definitely been a source of frustration as I see people with lower BMIs losing faster than me) Thanks!

    Medication

Hi I am having a similar issue right now. My doctor said I could swallow the entire pill but now I'm getting sharp pains below my rib cage. Did it ever go away? If so, how? Thanks
  8. Its working for me now!
  9. Same problem with me on iOS
  10. Hi, I've been having issues for the past 2/3 days. It says SESSION_EXPIRED repeatedly.
  11. Hi everyone! I'm having my gastric bypass on December 3rd. It's my first surgery ever and I'm quite terrified
  12. Hi everyone. I'm scheduled for December 3rd and the anxiety is killling me. I've never had any surgery before and I'm second-guessing everything.

    One Week Post-Op

Hi everyone, Hope you are doing better! If you don't mind me asking: when you guys refer to "struggling" quite a lot during the first weeks is to the physical aspect (pain/discomfort) or just the overall process of adjusting? I am trying to better to understand what to expect. Thanks.
  14. I agree with Briswife, as well as testing her hormones, you should probably explore this possibility. My mom has Bipolar Disorder and this sounds EXACTLY like her manic episodes (the "highs" stage), where she is extremely jumpy and talkative, goes on shopping sprees, texts everyone all day, stays up all night doing random activities, booking vacations, etc.
  15. Thank you everyone for your replies. I am glad to see that it wasn't an easy decision for anyone and you are right, I have 6 months to keep getting informed and make up my mind and if it comes to it, cancel it. I was reluctant to this possibility at first, as I felt it would have been a "waste of time" but honestly, after so many years of ignoring my body, all the tests and doctor's appointments I'll have to get done such as blood tests and others are probably needed anyways. Not to mention the nutrition and exercise regimen!
