after one of my previous surgery’s they gave me peppermint tea after to help with gas ... and it was amazing. since they probably can’t after our sleeve surgeries i was reading that peppermint oil might help. I bought some yesterday to mix with another oil and try massaging into my shoulder. i know walking should help, i’m just trying to find anything else that will as well

@Mikeyy hi, which one are you buying in bulk from there?
@Cherylmilla have you found any you like now? i had a honeycomb one yesterday that was drinkable but over the top sweet and led to a headache after. hope you find something that works for you soon

im looking forward to not needing to order clothes online from another country! had to do this again this morning 🤯 it’s really hard imagining being able to one day just walk in a shop and by clothing that fits

Getting closer to my surgery date with only a few weeks left before pre-op begins and my thoughts (and pesky emotions) are running all over the place. Somewhere between excitement to complete and utter panic. so thought about postponing surgery for a few months ... or a year, to have more time to lose weight to make surgery safer and work on my head more first but then i think more likely i’ll just end up in the same place as now but have lost the time. instead i could be weighing a lot less and getting healthier. So not really wanting to postpone and instead pushing forward!
One of the big things that comes up is the feelings of being alone in all of this and the lack of in person support. It seems that the only support group/rehabilitation program (combined program) existing near enough to attend is one that requires health insurance to attend with no option for paying yourself; and for some crazy reason my insurance is one of only two insurers that doesn’t cover this as it’s not long enough or frequent enough. Hoping to find an exercise physiologist at least who can help but then i go into the financial freeze state i.e. how am i going to afford all this 🤯
I’m starting with a BMI over 50 ... so i know health wise this is the right move for sure. Not sure really why i’m writing just now ... i know it has to be my decision and i’m the one doing it ... i think i just need (want?) some extra encouragement and to be reminded it’s worth doing and that i’m worth doing it for

Thanks everyone who has responded so far ... interesting how much our necks impact how old we can look! and also the first time I’ve heard of the neck surgery .... thought I’d heard them all 😟 also interesting that for some it’s resulting in being younger looking and for others the opposite!

Recently i had someone trying to insist i was about 15 years younger than i am ... and i know part of this is all the weight in my face can be deceptive age wise. Just wondering if others have noticed their faces aging as they lost weight?
Curiousity only ... losing this weight is the important thing

I’ve read about gerd impacting surgery choices, does chronic gastritis?

I'm having the sleeve done, but started noticing a bit more heart burn and reflux recently so was getting worried when reading about the preference for bypass ... so firstly @GradyCat that's so encouraging, and wonderful, for you to hear the sleeve has actually improved yours. @MissLadyK what do they say when you ask them why the sleeve is better given the issues you mentioned and getting another surgeons opinion as others have suggested might be a good idea given your concerns

I wasn't sure on the nut consistency, so great to hear it would be possible in both liquid and pureed stages ... honestly i couldn't imagine that combination at first but as a shake I'm starting to think it sounds a good one to remember -- @GingerSlim are you going to try it as the shake or wait till puree stage?

Excellent news that the cardiologist didn't see anything! that must be such a relief for you? .... hopefully you can confirm the 9th tomorrow and everything goes smoothly with that appointment 🌻
I'm getting mine done on the 17th (hopefully) ... date's changed twice already but that's the current plan.
Pre-op diet is the Protein Shakes twice a day, then 100g of lean meat plus lots of starch fee vegetables for dinner .... very glad I'm not on full liquid as many are although I guess it will happen soon enough anyway 😀 Do you know what's involved for your pre-op diet yet?

i’ve had so many drs tell me i need the surgery in the past and it was me saying no .... so when i needed a referral i just said to my GP that i need a referral for weight loss surgery and she wrote one and didn’t say anything else about it. I switched drs soon after to one who says a bit more that’s helpful
hope asking goes well for you

I’ve seen others mention starting earlier ... my dietician advised me not to do anything too intense because she wanted me as motivated as possible for the time she set (two weeks pre-op) have you asked your nutritionist or surgeon? great idea on wanting to kick start things .... i’m focusing on Water, Vitamins and exercise currently to get in better habits there. all the best to you

Hi,
Anyone else having their gastric sleeve done in September?
I start the pre-op diet in four weeks so starting to look for others going through this around the same time
How are you going with the lead up?

i can’t but worth checking what is on your plan since they vary so much

yes, a few months out still and i’m doing the research and watching things and doing what i can to be as ready as possible. it’s a major life change and i want to have the best chance of success possible! also a massive positive investment in myself which is different, so doing all i can to make this investment count and pay off 😀

Hi, you mentioned your gp’s guess, have you been able to talk to your surgeon about the pain yet? I hope it eases for you soon

thanks @Frustr8 that's good you were able to have the bypass and that you are not wanting to go back to before surgery even with all you've gone through health wise since you had yours 🌸
...... my surgery is planned as the sleeve so just hoping the chronic gastritis won't mean changing this
