  1. Yes, Doddie, a one month waiting list is really awesome! It really IS strange to me that there aren't more surgeons doing this surgery in BC. This IS the most beautiful province! Lol! ducks for cover. But, yes, I do see more happening in the future. In the meantime, I think we should go back to med school and become lap band specialists. And I hope you find a fill doc or nurse closer. Even with cheap flights, it is time consuming.
  2. Well, now that I totally understand. But for the people who live in BC, who went to Toronto. I guess I am just curious. I chuckled at the beautiful digs comment, comparitively, Dr Leung has some of the UGLIEST digs I have ever seen. Lol! BUt he is an awesome surgeon, and that what mattered most to me. But as for your mom, there is another option in Dr Leung
  3. Although I am incredibly jealous of the FABULOUS clinic in TLBC. I am curious why no one is considering Dr Leung. OK, he has not got the best of bedside manners, he is ESL, he is even a bit on the aged side. But have you considered Leung? I love the guy, I AM jealous of the counselling you get at TLBC, but I am not jealous of the distance you have to travel for fills. So call me curious.
  4. I have told very few people and I too, feel this guilt that everyone must feel as though I have 'THE SECRET', so I say it is never too late. I will tell people who I feel would benefit from my experience. I don't have to justify why I didn't tell them at the start. If you feel your coworker would benefit from your experience. I say tell her. But you can bet that who ever you tell, they WILL tell others, so if you are comfortable with that, then go for it. hugs and congratulations on your weight loss.
  5. I like it here. I think it will be easier to track. I am holding my 198. I am finding the summer-like conditions harder to stay away from the high calorie beverages and Snacks. So must make a concerted effort to not be dumb this summer. My kids don't need any of it either. They are all thin, and I plan on them staying that way. Hmmm, I am working on the last 30 pounds or so. I have dropped in my excitement on going to the gym. This last 2 weeks of school is CRAZY busy. That can be both good and bad. Anyway, just making my weekly check in. Hope you are all still maintaining and losing.... It is very hard for me to believe that we are coming up on our 1st anniversary. I am so thrilled I followed through. I am 82 pounds thinner and feel so awesome I can't even stand it. I can hardly wait to lose the last 30, then I think I might be on top of the world. Eddie, tell me about maintaining.
  6. I didn't notice at first, but I sure do now. My hands and feet are always cold. Let's just say I love my hot tub. Keep warm. Also fleece is the most amazing fabric.:heh:
  7. There is my surgeon, Dr Leung who works out of Surrey Memorial. Is office is in a building right beside the hospital. Here is his contact information, along with the only other surgeons in BC that do Lap Band. Don't know of any new ones, but good luck with your search. paula Dr Wai Leung Leung W M Dr 13798 94A Ave 200, Surrey, BC V3V1N1 (604) 581-2515 Dr. Woodhead Ladner, BC (604) 946 6500. Dr. Amson Victoria BC
  8. Well, I couldn't feel mine at first, but now that I have dropped over 80 pounds I can feel it......lol!
  9. OOO nice to 'meet' another 6 footer. I am already fitting into generous 14's. I'd like to lose my tummy fat and a bit around my thighs and back. I am not asking for skinny, just to lose this muffin top. I'd love to weigh anywhere between 172-180 and be a Tall Girl size 12. Yep, that'd be good for me. If I have to have surgery to get rid of this tummy fat, I'll consider that too. I have no fear of looking anorexic. I will never look anorexic...lol!
  10. Currently, I only have one pair of jeans that fit.....and I don't even care. Thank goodness summer is around the corner, beacuse I can just wear a bathing suit and wrap or shorts and shirts, but come this Fall, I had better save my money for new jeans..... I LOVE IT. I haven't gone to the second hand store, because I am 6ft and need long legged pants. I have been careful not to buy too many things on the way down. I have bought a few new things only to regret it as they get too big before I feel as though I got my money out of it. Anyone get to goal and spend a bomb on clothes?
  11. My dear MIL just said it last night. My response "Thanks!" Why say anymore than that right? LIFE IS GOOD!
  12. I KNOW!!!!! Isn't it wonderful? I am feeling beautiful again for the first time in many, many, many years. I LOVE this band..... hugs
  13. There are a LOT threads in the Lap Band Fills section on this very topic. I would warn you that a band can tighten up a week or 2 - 4 weeks later. So your restriction just may be around the corner. When you get near 3.0cc's THEN you will really feel restriction......at least that is how it was for me. Wait a while, you might be in for a tightening up experience. Good luck Band life is great.
  14. You know it is funny. Not one person said ANYTHING until just recently. I prefer people not to notice actually. In my head, if they don't notice my 80 pound weight loss, perhaps they never noticed how big I was in the first place. hhahahaha But ya, travelgirl, no one said anything to me when I was down 40, 50, 60 and even 70 pounds. Either they were worried I'd gain it back or just didn't want to jinx me. I don't know. But now, I wish they'd STOP. But I am weird that way, I really don't want the attention.
  15. I am not sure. I have never been too tight. I HAVE been tight though, and it took more than 6 weeks to loosen up. I think the loosening up had to do with fat loss around the stomach. HOWEVER, I must warn you that my band has tightened up 2 weeks after a fill. So please be careful. Can you drink Water? When do you return home? Let us know how you are doing.
  16. Great response Eddie. That is the most amazing thing to me. That we are allowed to keep this band, barring any complications, and that we can stay at this weight FOREVER! After so many years of failure, that is the most amazing and beautiful thing to me.:clap2:
  17. I think I will do exactly that. hahahaaha! Good one, no one can argue if you agree with them. I am not too concerned about losing much more. I am near 6 ft and am feeling really good at this weight. But I watched Dr Oz on Oprah one day when he was looking at omentums. He held up omentums from both a healthy weight person and an overweight person. The omentum from the overweight person was so much larger. Then he said the large omentum was from a person who was only about 30-40 pounds overweight. In comparison, it LOOKED like it may have been from a person with much more than 40 pounds to lose. So that omentum sticks in my head. If you don't know what I am talking about, look here. An omentum is the fat that pads the stomach. The Biology of Blubber: Omentums of Fat So I figure this band can help me get to a healthy BMI, then I should go for it...... 172 pounds, here I come....
  18. I just heard that yesterday. I'll take it as a compliment, but ya no, 199 pounds is not my final goal. No doc in the world would say I am at goal. This is a wonderful and supportive friend of mine who said this, so I do take it as a compliment. Still I wonder where it comes from when people say this to us near goalies. My husband, hinted the same thing. I wonder if it is a comfort zone with them? Have you heard this lately?
  19. That is so stinkin' exciting Leva 13, congratulations! THANKS GHOST, I feel fantastic. Love your name.
  20. What a fickle band this! I went on a long road trip with my dd this weekend. And although I know elevation shouldn't affect the band, something sure did. I could hardly eat all weekend. So I just wanted to report that it is interesting how much variation I can get with this fickle friend of mine. My surgeon thinks I should be able to get to goal with this fill. I am starting to think he might be right on that one.
  21. I reached my first personal goal to get under 200! YEA ME!:clap2: Now I have 20-30 pounds to reach my final goal.
  22. :pound: Isn't life grand. Good for you Cascadian! Happy losing.
  23. That makes me so angry. I am so glad you rescued Lily. She is absolutely stunning. I have a new soft spot for long hairs since we got our 3 Birmans. I have 3 kids, and they each got their own kitten. They have brought so much joy to our home, I can't explain. eventhoughthereiswhitecatfureverywhere And Kayko, what a good looking dog. I talked to a Japanese Chin breeder (similar breed). She says they are great dogs Yes, Susansilver, with 3 kids, your family is complete.
  24. Albert is adorable, I love Albert.
