Freaking out pre-op
I freaked out too....11 months ago....I even considered jumping off the operating table and running. I didn't however and I am so glad I went through with it and 11 months later 82 pounds lighter. I am convinced that I'd still be 280 pounds PLUS, had I not gone through with this life changing surgery. Good luck in your journey you two. I hope you find the success and happiness that many of us banded peeps have found. What you are feeling is normal and natural....hugs.

July 2006 Band Crew
Kari, that is the sweetest thing anyone ever said to me. Ditto to you, you gorgeous thing you. Baylor mom. Are you too tight? Is that why you are restorting to Protein bars. I regularly have Protein shakes for Breakfast. I got the idea from tv where I saw a bodybuilder, who had one for breakfast every morning. Probably more nutrients in that than my previously banded breakfast of toast and jam. But you do need your real food. I have some favorites. Tuna or salmon salad. Soups, and for dinner, I have always eaten what I cook for my family. Proteins and boiled veggies. I usually always have a can of salmon salad. It is already mixed with mayo. I just open and eat. I love those summer squash soups from Knorr, just open and heat. I haven't eaten much fruit, but I have been eating the soft and ripe variety. Lately, I have gone back to salads. Just tiny, tiny measures. 1/2 cup. What in your diet are you worried about? Fibre? Protein? Keep trying different stuff. I can tolerate some things one day and not others so it is sometimes trial and error. Let us know how you are doing. I have decided I like 198 and have stayed there for a while now....snort.

Confession: I WANT a fill, but probably don't need one.
Thanks you two, you are so right. I AM being greedy. So close to goal, I just want it done yesterday. But you're right. When I eat the proper foods, I am still tight enough. I AM loosening up though I can tell, so I will enjoy a few more weeks or months of this and then see how things feel. Thanks kindly.

Confession: I WANT a fill, but probably don't need one.
I confess. My weight loss has slowed down, but I still have restriction. Sometimes more than others. My weight loss has really centered around my fills. I get a fill, I drop 10-20 pounds pretty quickly, I slow down, I stop. I am in the slow down process, but have not really stopped. But I AM confessing that I am into the junk. STOP ME, I AM A MONSTER! Lol! I will get better, I am thinking that with only 27 more pounds to go, I will take it easy this summer and go for a fill and get down to some more serious business this Fall when the kids go back to school. So just confessing and complaining here. Nice to have a place to do that. Cheers, Paula

Eating Bread
I am 11 months out, I haven't included bread in my diet. And thankfully, I don't even miss it. I did have a 1/4 pb&j on 100% whole wheat, the other day. I didn't eat the crust and it went down fine, and stayed down. But I never even try the white kind. Before banding, I low carbed, so I am OK with no bread. And I have to say that I am a former addict. I have eaten the tops off pizza and discarded the crust. I have eaten the center of a sandwiches. Truly, it isn't something I miss.

Last Minute Doubts
Glad you are home and on the mend. Be kind to yourself. I just wanted to tell you that every day I thankful and love myself for being courageous enough to go through with this surgery. I am 11 months out now and 82 pounds less. I feel so alive and good about myself and how I look and feel. Some days I STILL can't believe that I actually went through with this surgery. I did actually think of jumping off the table in surgery. But I am sure thankful that I didn't. And this morning, I felt particularly beautiful when I put on my brand new loose fitting white Esprit size 14 capris.:clap2: I am thankful evey day for my surgeon and those of my freinds here and in real life who went before me. Keep us up on your progress and congratulations, this is the first day of the rest of your life, thinner and healthier for it.

Your favorite banded breakfast.....
Don't know why I didn't do this MONTHS AGO! I am drinking my breakfast this morning. 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and 1/2 banana, all mixed up in a blender with 1 cup milk. I don't eat much fruit so this is a good way to get my fruit in. I also have a juicer. I might drink 3 carrots later. YUMMY and lots of Vitamins........drinking slowly of course.

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
I am glad you got that looked after nursing gal......
-
After Fill Bruised. Normal??
Ya, funny, that has never happened to me until my last fill. So I'd say I must have been lucky otherwise. It will go away though.

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Wow that is stressful nursinggal. It is 3:40pm Western Time. How are you doing? I have never been been to that point where I couldn't keep down water, and I am sorry, I can't answer your question I guess you have to go by how you feel, he said, if you feel dizzy and weak. So be careful and see if you need to go to the hospital tonight, or if you can wait til the morning. If you wait, be at your doctor's office door before he is....that must be very stressful. Hugs and let us know how it is going. And PLEASE, this is not your fault, this is not your failure. I hope it all works out Sweetie......hugs

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Sorry, can't help you there. I don't know why it is tighter in the morning than evening. I also don't know why the differences during the 'time of month' or travelling. But all these things affect my band. Yes, I sip my water. We can't put more liquid or food in our stomach than it holds. Think sand in an hour glass. It takes time to empty before you can take in more. Also you know about the not drinking after a meal deal don't you? So if you have a meal even if it's soup, do not drink anything for at least an hour afterward. It will keep the food in your tiny tummy, making you feel full longer. If you drink water right after eating, it will 'flush' the food out of your stomach and you may feel hunger again. Let us know how you are doing.

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Yes, it is pretty normal to feel tighter in the morning. Right after a fill, I'd often just have an Atkin's or Slim Fast shake, same for lunch and then a small dinner of protein and soft veggies. BUT you SHOULD be able to keep down liquids during the day. If not, definately go get a small unfil. Let us know how it goes.

pbing
Can someone clarity for me complications that might arise out of pbing too often. Thanks in advance.
-
Bulemic state of mind?
I think it is good to talk about, so good for you all for outing yourselves First of all, I think we ALL experience pbing at some time. I will pb, if I eat too much, or too fast, or the wrong food. I would like to ask Dr C what the possible complications are from pbing often or habitually. But I do know that it is not good, and aside from the odd pb, it should be avoided at all costs. I am just guessing here, but I think that ultimately you risk losing your band, due to complications. Slipped band come to mind, esophegeal herniation comes to mind. I am hoping Dr C comes in here and clarifies. So no guilt, but do educate yourselves, and treat yourselves and your band with respect.

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Nursinggal, I would have to say that you are too tight if you can not eat your small protein serving, plus a bit of veggie. Although, having said that. I like a tight fill and I tend to losen up after 10 pounds or so. I am glad you found a new fill doctor, but 1.0 seems like a big jump to me. My doc went up by .5 increments. So ya, you might feel really tight nowk, after a fill of 1.0. Let us know how you are doing and what you decide.

Any strange sensations thinner?
...another thing I find interesting....I wanted to make a comment to another overweight person about 'my fat ass'. I thought better of it since my ass is not so fat anymore, I would have just looked like an ass saying it. lol! But I thought it interesting that a making a self-degrading comment would have kept me in the 'group' feeling. A place I felt comfortable for many, many years. Now I will have to think of new ways to feel included. Positive ways.

Countdown to Onederland!
Come on in ladies, take my hand, the water's fine. Just checking in to help encourage my buddies to dip into the waters of 190's. I am still under 200, went on a bit of an ice cream bender, but now back on plan. Getting under 200 wasn't as hard as I thought . Now getting under 198! Now THAT's is the kicker. And getting back to the gym I joined a few months back, ya THAT I need help with......

Any strange sensations thinner?
I am finding some things strange and some even a bit uncomfortable. Sensations from dropping 82 pounds. "Hey, I have bones!" When I lay on my side in bed, my knees knock, it's actually somewhat uncomfortable without those thighs cushioning the knees. I am not sweating and hot all the time. In fact, sometimes I am downright chilly. I love that my waistbands no longer dig into my stomach. and once again.....HEY, I HAVE BONES! I wonder what new strange sensations will come as I drop the last 30 pounds. Whatever they are, I am ready. Do you have any strange sensations?
