    Newbie here

Not too many NH people here, but I know of at least two locally that have had it done and both are very glad they did it. Portsmouth seems very nice. The doctor's were at the info night and I got really great impressions of the two that were there. I am anxious to get the process going, but they said the minimum amount of time is 2 months...I am hoping to be one of the quickest to move through. We'll see though...Keep in touch and we can be great support for each other through this process:thumbup:

    Newbie here

Hey Deb! Welcome to the LPT! I am fairly new here too! I go through Barnstead on my way to work everyday:) It's good to have another local here:thumbup: Where are you having the surgery done? I'm going through the Portsmouth office. Take care and I look forward to your posts! Moe

    Helloooooooo anyone there

I've emailed a couple of times with questions, hoping I would find out a little more, but just got short answers...I figured I would give them until Tuesday and then start calling. I don't want to bug them, but my schedule late summer is a nightmare, so I have to have it before the end of July or I will probably have to wait until October and I don't want to wait anymore. I am psyched to get this going.
  4. It's taken me so long to make the decision and now that I have I feel like on terminal hold...We'll have to keep in touch and go down this road with company:biggrin2:
  5. Hi all, What is the quickest you have heard someone starting the process and getting to surgery? I'm going to wait until tomorrow night to really make the decision, but with all the research and reading, I am leaning toward having the surgery. My issue is that I would like to move it along quickly...what is your experience? Thanks!
  6. I'm a photo nut and even I think once a day is tough, but once a month would be great! Good idea:)

    food posioning! Help!

Well there is something I have not thought of...how does that work if you get the flu? Do you have to be prescribed something every time? What happens if you vomit out of the blue? How do you stop it so you don't damage the band or your stomach?
  8. I feel your pain PB. I have been with the same PCP for about 15 years and I will probably have to find another one because of this same issue. She is about 5' and has lost a lot of weight. When I called she gave me the local surgeons name and number, but then started telling me that all of the people she sees that have been banded have gained their weight back. I was very surprised by her reaction. I really have come to know her and I love the fact that she is honest, but she seems to be really against this. I think it goes back to so many people thinking this is the easy way out...they have no idea... Anyway, keep the faith and if it means getting a new doc so be it. We are trying to make life long changes to improve our health and if the doc gets in the way of that it's a shame. It only gives us more reason to succeed. Prove to them that it does work and that we are serious about changing our lives.
  9. Has anyone had the surgery done in Portsmouth, NH? Just looking for some feedback on Dr. Gens. Thanks!
  10. Hey Donna, I am just starting the process too. It sounds like we are very similar I have an extra inch, but the same patterns. I also have lifted this up in prayer to see if it was meant to be, but I have a hard time not pushing my own agenda! I dropped my application off over a week ago and I have not heard anything yet. I want to have the surgery done before the end of July, but I'm not sure it is going to happen that way. We'll see! Take care. Moe

    Mentors

Congratulations on losing 100 lbs! Good for you! I hope to be able to say that some day too:)
  12. OMG I am still laughing:) You go girl with your 5K, even if you finish last-you still did it! Good for you:) I have no advice for you as I have not been banded yet, but I sometimes get a little freaked out by some of the posts. I try to remind myself to read as many good ones as I do scary ones:biggrin:

    Three years...and starting over.

I'm glas you are back TS! Thank you for sharing what you are going through. I have not been banded yet, but I can learn from what you are going through before I even get banded. I have HUGE respect for you coming back and fighting for your health. GOOD FOR YOU! Keep up the fight and I am praying for you and cheering for your success!
  14. I completely agree PennyLane! I just wish the 1 hour in person and the 2 hours with a paper and pencil could be reversed. IMHO it's easier to lie on paper than it is in person. I know they've got to find the best way that will work with everyone, but it really seems like herding cattle this way. I don't envy the doctors that have to figure it out in one hour.

    New NH person

Thanks Sue! I had the Pats up there, but thought if I want to actually speak to anyone, but people from New England, I'd better go with the Red Sox:) People don't realize how long we have waited to see all of the New England teams in a hunt for championships:) Go Sox and let me know if you ever have trouble getting rid of any of your seats:biggrin: LOL The seminar was fantastic and the sergeons were really nice. I weighed in the next day and am waiting for the consult now. I'm psyched! Moe
  16. Thanks! They said that 2 months is the absolute quickest I can go. The waiting will just about kill me, but I have been waiting for so many years, what's a couple more months right?
  17. I work for the Gov't Big T and I feel your pain! I know they mean well, but usually people that are getting this surgery have been depressed at one point in their lives. Captain Obvious strikes again:biggrin: This could be it's own thread:rolleyes2:
  18. THis is kind of a morbid question, but I have to ask it with the amount of cancer in my family history. Have any of you heard of someone going through radiation or chemo with the band? I'm going to check with my dr's office too. I don't have it and hope I never do, but just trying to really be thorough.

    Telling the kids

Sounds like she had good parenting:)
  20. Hey everyone. I got officially weighed in today and turned in my application. I am going forward with the surgery, but it will be a couple of months before I have the surgery. I have two sons 5 and 8, any suggestions about what to say to them? Thanks.
  21. I'm with you Big T! I have no issue with meeting with a Psychologist, but the exam is rediculous...I had one for work and they ask you the same question 50 times thinking they will trick you into saying that you are a closet ax murderer...go figure:tt2:

    Telling the kids

Thanks:) I can remember too when I could tell something was going on and being scared and after I found out what it was, it wasn't really that bad. Fear of the unknown I guess.
  23. Maybe the dentist could get you on the cancellation list? Keep your chin up, you can do it:w00t:

    Cancer treatments

THank Bamalama! No way it will hold me back, but could see someone in my family coming up with that question and wanted to have an answer:) I'm praying for your health and for a cure. thanks!
  25. I saw many of my family members today(We buried my Grandfather, who died Dec 28:frown:) We gathered for lunch and I told them what my plans were. They were all very supportive and are excited for me:) I was worried how they would react.
