  1. Hi Everyone! I've been going through some major heath issues that forced the doctors to take the Fluid out of my band. I have been down for the count for over a year and finally was just diagnosed with Lyme Disease and have started treatment. I have gained all but about 20 lbs back. I'm looking forward to getting back to exercise and a better diet. The band saved me from getting even bigger, but I'm looking forward to getting back to my weight loss! I am looking for recommendations for free online calorie counters and fitness logs. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Moe128
  2. OH MY WORD! I just got this. Sorry about that! how are you doing? I've had three fills and will probably have my 4th the last week of January. I'm down about 46 lbs. I've been floating from 43-46 for about 2 months. I feel great though and it's really doing it's job. Hope you had a nice holiday. Talk to you soon. Moe

  3. Hey Everyone! I'm on break from school, so had a minute to check in. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I too have been struggling with the plateau, for about two months...I think it finally is starting to move again. I had my third fill on Tuesday and I'm down 2 lbs since then! I've lost a total of 45 lbs! I love my band! It's going to be a white Christmas here:) We are getting upwards of a foot of snow tonight and we are in for another storm on Sunday. WHOO HOO. It's better than that blasted ice! Moe
  4. I might be interested, but have to wait for price and schedule...

    Stand Still or Still Loosing?

I'm with you Lanakila! I was Aug 1st and just had my second fill-up to 1.5ccs. I'm starving, but still trying to be good, but it's tough. I'm stuck at about 43-45 lbs, including presurgery weight loss...It's frustrating, but I'm hoping the fills help eventually.

    "shopping in my attic"

Great Job Gary!!! I too have started weeding out clothes. I was able to actually take my pants off the other day without event unbuttoning them. It was so much fun. I have started going through my summer clothes-with Fall and Winter on the way-and I gave them away to a friend's sister. I broke down and bought on pair of black pants that are still a little tight-good motivation:tongue: and one pair of jeans. WHen I got my jeans home that were two sizes smaller, they are actually a little baggy!!! What a boost to the willpower! I LOVE MY BAND:) I have only had one fill, my trip fell right when I was supposed to get one, but it was fine. The nurse tried and my surgeon actually finished it because she had another surgery waiting. It didn't hurt a bit and was quick and easy. I notice a little restriction, but we'll see how long it takes to get hungry again... Keep up the good work Gary! Great JOB! Moe

    Let's Get This Party Started!

Hey Deborah, Hang in there! The head hunger is much harder to beat than the actual physical hunger. The only thing that keeps me from eating is to get up and do something. Go for a walk, do a puzzle, read a book anything to keep my mind off what I want to eat. Have you gone to see anyone about it? A visit to a DR that specializes in that might help. Even a call to your lap band doc might help. Do you have support groups in your area? The are very helpful and if nothing else you will realize that you are not at home and maybe pick up an email buddie or phone a friend that you can reach out to when you are feeling weak. Don't give up-YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Moe

    3.10.08 friday morning weigh in.

Hey Everyone! sorry I'm a little late posting. I've been gone for two weeks and no access to internet except on weekends:eek: Over the past few weeks I have been getting very hungry, which is not good at a catered training, but I think I did pretty well. I did 1/2 a sandwich instead of a whole one, no chips, when I would have had at least a bag. I did have a cookie, but I tried to look at it as a victory, because I cut way back. It's a lot easier when I'm not hungry. I got my first fill on Wed the 1st and it's nice to be full again!! I went on liquids and mushies and when I weighed in on Friday I was down 4 lbs! WHOO HOO! I walked around the Fryeburg Fair, which has food-nasty food everywhere and did very well. I had some Soup for lunch and a tiny bit of apple crisp and was so excited that I couldn't finish it:) I'm finding that a bite or two of something really satisfies my cravings, which is so much better than before when I had to eat it all. The only thing I have had any problems with is Pork and one time I ate too fast and the second time I cooked it too long and it was dry. I am curious to see how the fill (1cc)works now that I can go back to real food. Good to be back and looking forward to getting caught up reading about everyone's progress:) Moe

    3.10.08 friday morning weigh in.

Hey Shamrock Girl! We were up in Conway yesterday and the leaves have not even hit peak yet...I'm down closer to the seacoast and we have more color than up north has. How is it in your neck of the woods? Good job on the weight loss:) Moe

    Good-bye 3!

That is so AWESOME! Good for you! You should be proud!!! Keep up the great work. Moe
  11. Hey Sash! I would also let your DR. know about the pain, but do you find that its worse when you lay flat? I also slept better on the recliner and I got sick of it, but it felt like laying flat was pulling the stitches right out, so I did the first week there. Are you doing a lot of walking? I felt that helped clear my groggy brain and it really helped with belly pain, both the gas and port. I wasn't setting any land speed records, but it really helped. It will get better though, don't worry:wink2: Moe
  12. Hi Everyone! What a crazy few weeks! I have two more weeks of craziness at work and then I will be able to post again normally. I am down 2lbs this week:) I was at a plateau and couldn't move, but finally I'm down again. I have had 4 weddings and a reunion since my surgery and I'm happy to say that I've done pretty well. I have not done much formal exercise, but have been moving a bunch of stuff at work for hours at a time and have been VERY active, so I'm not beating myself up about it. I will be gone for two weeks so I am hoping I can get some actual walks in. The place also has a Basketball hoop, so I'll be playing a lot while I'm there. I have not had my fill yet. I was one of the first to be banded and I'll be one of the last to get my fill. I have a college class on Thursdays and it is the only time my doctor does fills, so I'm waiting for a call to see what we can work out. I am getting hungry, but I have been so busy that it has helped, no time to be bad:) Much of the hunger is in my head and I'm still trying to work on that. It's so great to hear how well everyone is doing and it gives me the will to keep pressing on:) Thanks everyone! Moe

    Friday Weigh Ins - 29th August 08

Hi Everyone! Sorry I've dropped off the planet. August is a really busy time for work and getting the kids back to school and I am going back to school and had orientation yesterday...soooo life is crazy... I'll give you the update, because I can't remember if I have done it or not:wink_smile: I am down to 220. which is 36lbs total, 20 presurgery and 16 since. I also took my 1st months measurements and I'm down as follows: Bust-stayed the same Butt-down 2" Waist-down 2.5" Hips-down 1.5" Upper Arm-down1.5" THigh-down 1.5" Calf- down 1" I didn't do much organized exercise this week, but I've been really active. I'd like to do more exercise this week. My weight has stayed the same for about the last 10 days and I'm sure that's why. I'm just now starting to get hungry and I'm really trying to grab a Water and drink instead of eating, but it's getting tough. I'm just going to keep myself so busy that I dont have time to be hungry! Congrats everyone on your weight loss! Everyone is doing so well. I'm with you Innotu, weight loss has slowed WAY down. I guess as long as it's weight loss I'll be happy:) Moe

    Almost 3 weeks!

Good job Gilta! The head hunger is always tempting. I was down 36 lbs (20 pre op) and it came to a screaching halt, but I did my measurements and I'm down between 1-2" off my waist, legs, butt, thighs and arms. It's enough to keep me going:) It's going to be a fight for sure, but we can do it:) Moe
  18. Moe128

    Oh Great...Not!

Keep posting! We are all here for you. You can do this! It is for your health. It's normal to have cravings so don't be too hard on yourself! Moe
  19. Good luck everyone! You'll be in my prayers! Moe

    1st NSV!!

Isn't it GREAT! I have to go out and get an outfit for two weddings I have to go to, although I'm only getting one for now. THey are in different states, so I can get away one:) Moe
  21. It took a while for the puffy belly to go back down. I had to really get used to the port, which I expected, but didnt know what it would feel like. I'm three weeks out tomorrow and it hardly bothers me at all now. It will take a while for my body to be okay with it, but it's not really painful anymore. I still notice it when I bend to tie my shoes or if I bump up against something, but it's much better now. Hope this helps!

Am I just Bein' a Baby?

Don't push yourself too hard, it's only been a little over a week. Make sure to walk. I'm sure you are getting sick of people saying that, but it really does help. As far as the pain medication, just make sure to come off it when you can. I know the stuff I was taking made me sleepy and zapped my energy-not to mention they are very addictive. Don't get me wrong, it was helpful for the pain, but you might want to try tylenol, to see if it helps. As soon as I went off the pain meds, my energy level went way up. As far as your co-workers, I agree with the idea to try to appoach them and take the first step to bond with them. If it doesn't work then it's on them. That added stress isn't going to help you with this process. Find a job that makes you smile, or at least not dread it. I know when I have a tough day at work, my old habit was to eat. Set yourself up to succeed. They should be greatful to have you:) I can only speak for myself, but getting up and moving helped with the recovery. I can suggest anything I want, but all in all it is your body and you know it best, just listen to what it is telling you. Keep in mind, you are only a little over a week out of surgery. Surgery is surgery, you need time to recover. Take the time you need and take care of you:) Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Moe
  23. Great Job Lello! I am taking my pictures tonight. I took them exactly one month ago and I'm going to do monthly pictures until I reach my goal, but they are in my bathing suit, so they won't be posted. I'll find some that I can post and take some normal shots now and post them. You are looking great for only three weeks out! Moe

    First Fill

I thought about trying to cut the meat/chicken up into small bits and try it, but was afraid to being so far away from my surgeon. I'm on regular foods next week:) WHOO HOO! I still do quite a few shakes though, they are super easy at work.
