    First Fill

Hey all! I'm back from TX, gosh it's hot:) I have hit the weight loss wall too. I have lost two lbs since the week after surgery, but my clothes are fitting much differently. My doc makes us wait 6 weeks. I am just trying to pre-measure the food so I don't cheat. THe trip was tough...the food was preplanned, but I never knew what it was until they put it on the table. Day one was chicken and steak tips with corn on the cob...uggh! I did not take a plate and 4 waiters tried to put one down. I sipped on water and then mixed a shake after. I also bumped into a dear friend who is having this done too, so we got a chance to chat! Thankfully I brought a ton of shake powder with me. I'm looking forward to reading through the new posts and getting caught up with everyone. Moe
  3. I was banded on August 1st and August 12th we went to TX. We flew from NH to NJ to TX. I was also switched to mushies that day. The food part was tough, if you do go bring plenty of shakes. My doctors two main concerns is that I was able to get up an walk down the isle (pretend you're going to the bathroom...and that I not lift my luggage. The flying part was not an issue, but I was 12 days out. Those 5 days made a huge difference. Hope this helps...Moe

    Just had my heart broken....

Hang in there liquid, I'm sending a huge bear hug from NH to you. This is not your fault. He made the choice and it's on him:angry:. You are on your way to making your insides match your outsides and no one can stop you. I agree with the statement that the best revenge is to choose good health and make this even more determined to succeed. I'm soooo sorry this happened. He will regret it, I'm sure there is a reason this other woman was his Ex-wife. He made a bad choice, but you can do this! We are all here to support you in whatever way you can. Cry all you want and feel the feelings so you can let him go and live your life. Moe
  5. Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't been around. I am still feeling great, I move to ground/mushy food this week and I CAN'T WAIT!!!! I'm really sick of shakes. I'm a little nervous, but I'm ready. I'm headed to San Antonio for a business trip this week, so any of you that are headed to lap band land this week, I'll be praying for you. Moe

    Question About Anthestia

The fact that you are young will actually work to your benefit. The younger you are helps you heal more quickly and typically bounce back faster, so you go girl:) My other suggestion is to let the nurses and doctors know of your fears and voice them-that way they are off your chest and you can just worry about getting on with your new life:)

    Question About Anthestia

maleliz777, My doctor's office explained that the blood clots were mainly a risk for the people who didn't move after surgery. As long as you get up and walk as much as possible then your blood keeps flowing and makes it very difficult to clot. Even if you cant get up right away, rotate your feet in circles and move your legs. My advise and I have lived it for a week, walking-outside, not around the house, is a God send. It helps with getting rid of the gas, helps prevent clots, helps you lose weight, and gets you mind and body back to work sooner. As for the "Awake" movie, dear God! Who let you watch that before surgery! That like watching Jaws before going to the beach. You poor thing!! I was wheeled around the corner from kissing my DH and the Dr said I'm going to give you a little something and you'll go off to sleep and I did. I don't even know where the OR is, I was out cold 10 feet from the corner and I woke up in recovery. With any surgery there are risks and they wouldn't have to warn us if they didn't happen, but the flip side of that is for us to stay heavy and have health issues that do worse things to us. I was aware of the risks, but the thought of a long healthy life with my family made it worth it. I'll keep you in my prayers, Take care! moe

    Oohh SoOO NERVOUS!!!

Hey Tacha! I agree with krtork, all of us were a little nervous, but I also agree with Claudine-it was no problem. I also went on Friday and I'm going for my recheck Friday. I only took the pain meds regularly for the first day and then decreased them and stopped taking them two days ago and I feel great. I went for a 2.5 mile walk with my DH and felt great. I've lost 29 lbs so far, 9 since surgery:thumbup: This first month will be difficult for all of us, but keep your eye on the goal and people will be green with envy with your weight loss! Good luck and you will be in my prayers! Moe

Started my new life 8/01.mixed emotions

Great advice everyong! I was banded on the 1st too and have been cooking the past couple of nights and I tried to speak really positive to myself-silently so my family wouldn't think I was nuts:smile:. I reminded myself how much weight I have dropped already and then I remembered that in a few weeks I can have this stuff and between now and then I'm going to keep losing. I've actually kind of reward myself everyday with a compliment-you did it-type of thing. Anytime I get that head hunger I get on this site or find something to keep me busy or go for a walk. I think part of this is showing our emotional self that we can live without solid food for a month. Before surgery when I skipped a meal, I thought I would die. Now I know I can do it. Just think of how proud of ourselves we will be when we make it to the goal of eating solids again:) I love the idea of cuddle time too. My 5 year old son announces to everyone that comes in to check on me that "mom's losing weight", because when I explained the surgery I said it was to lose weight. I just went out yesterday and bought 5 new extracts. I tried some almond extract in my vanilla unjury and it tasted like ice cream. I got some maple, orange, strawberry...I thought it would make the shakes a little easier to take for the next several weeks. Hope this helps and YOU CAN DO THIS!! Moe

    New NH person

Hi everyone! I am going for the informational night tomorrow with my sister. I'm looking forward to learning a lot about the process and this site has been very helpful! Thanks!
  21. Hey Everyone! I am officially banded. Surgery went great this morning and I was home by 2PM EST and have felt great. I'm sure the meds have not worn off, but I'll take it:) Surgery was quick and easy and I was in recovery for about three hours. I came home, watched TV for a little while and just got back in from a little walk(doctor's orders) and am going to sip on some tea. For anyone going to Portsmouth hospital, they were AWESOME! My surgeon came into chat and didn't seem rushed, the other doctor's nurses and staff were fantastic-I'm going to write a letter to the hospital-I was that impressed. I'll write more when I can see straight and when I'm not as sleepy:) Thanks for the support and I look forward to our journey's together!!!Moe

    How Long?

Hey Sassymama, I was in the OR for about 1.5 hours. All went great and I went walking twice today. I went a total of 2.5 miles, which I never thought I'd do 3 days post-op. I feel so much better when I walk though. Walk, walk, walk!! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. I didn't stay over, but easy shoes to put on and nothing with a tight waist. Moe
  25. Thanks!~ I'm really glad to have the "August All-Stars" to back me up through this journey! I have about 3 lbs more and it will top my highest amount of weight lost at any one time....That is sooooo huge!! I love the band:) Moe
