    Over the counter vitamins?

I was told to take Flintstone w/ iron then calcium citrate which I got from bariatric pal its the bariatric advance chews. I have been looking into Tespo its a machine kinda like a Keurig machine that will make you a shot of vitamins daily. They have a bariatric pod two shot glasses of drink a day one in morning and one at night and that it. Rather then taking a ton of pills. But I'm the worst at taking pills so I think it would be more beneficial for me to go the Tespo route. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Some very good points ladies! I will need to tell the household my trigger foods... thats a good idea. And imagining myself eating in front of my surgeon. He chastised me for not working out yet [emoji37] lol so I'm kinda like YES SIR! ILL WALK EVERY DAY SIR! lol (I'm getting my surgery done through the military hospital). So I could definitely imagine his chastisement if I eat or drink badly. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

I am getting a 32oz for at home to fill up twice a day. They have a 64oz one, but I dunno how massive it is so Ill just do 32oz then I am gonna get a 17oz one for on the go so it fits in the cup holders and easier to transport. I never thought about it! I do almost wish she could of went first. Her approval was tougher to go through then mine. So it makes me feel kinda guilty I'm getting to go first. Even though I know I can't do anything about insurance companies and their approval process. But I guess its just the bestfriend in me I want her to experience the happiness first because I know how much she wants this! [emoji133] Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

Good to know!!! I was told no orange or red dyes because when they open you up it will look like blood lol, but I think that's like 24hrs before your surgery. Definitely gonna get some so I can kick the sugar and trick my brain into thinking those are my sweets for the night.

How were your popsicles? I keep meaning to grab some of those!!! I definitely will next shopping trip. The chews are ok... I accidentally got Carmel when I meant to get chocolate. I accidentally got chocolate with a subscription but i didn't want the subscription and deleted it and added another to my cart and turned the sub off and didn't change the flavor. Poo! I wanted to see if I could exchange them out but i don't wanna pay to ship them back so i might just be stuck with them! Edit to add: I just seen you said STARE at the popsicles lol....
  9. I cheated today and drank a redbull. My brother is living with us for a few months and he knows I like redbull and brought one back for me. Ugh! I was doing good at no sugary drinks since a few days ago. But this is it... I told him no more so he knows. lol!

I have a high white blood cell count too, but I've noticed that I've always had it for years. My doctor said it was ok and might just be my "normal" number. It didn't hold me back... thankfully! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. I wasnt meaning to compare myself to others journey per say. I was just curious in the comparison to weight loss from people who have PCOS which gives you a metabolic disorders to the average person who doesn't have a disorder. That's why I asked did you lose the same or was it slower. I wonder if the metabolic disorders from PCOS would hold us back in anyway. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Do you feel you've lost weight as much as others or was your weightloss slow? I know PCOS gives us a metabolic disorder so I was wondering about others losing weight rate because of it. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm glad I found the July group!!! I looked and only saw June, but someone mentioned the July group on another thread and I found yall! I'm getting my sleeve done on July 23rd. I could of done it sooner July 2nd, but we booked and paid for a cabana over the water mid July so I didn't wanna be in pain or not up for travelling. So I pushed my surgery out. At the time I was in a meh mood for the surgery. I wasn't excited for it, but I wasn't not unhappy about it. I kept thinking about everything I was going to be missing. But after coming back to Bpal and reading everyone's stories and realizing that its not forever and that eventually I'll be able to eat things like steak again. ( I love steak lol)… I started to get excited about the surgery and started getting ready for it!
  16. I ran out of soda so far and I haven't drank any since. I've done unsweetened tea plus water of course. Cutting out sweets is next which is going to be hard! 😥
  17. I actually like the passion tea with sugar free vanilla syrup it tastes so good! Good to know it's allowed! Thanks! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Nice! I wonder if I'll get something like that. I know I have a 1hr class I have to attend then after I have a 2hr class its on the 19th. I should probably have asked more questions about it and what they are for and when I would get the 2wk preop diet. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. FOR ANYONE IN THE FUTURE THAT MIGHT STUMBLE UPON THIS AND WANT TO KNOW... I will also update after my WLS. Can Weight Loss Surgery Help Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine system disorder in women. About 10% of all women of reproductive age have signs of PCOS, which is a hormone imbalance that can cause weight gain, acne, extra hair, irregular periods, and other problems. Perhaps the most significant problems experienced by women who suffer from PCOS are hyperandrogenism (the presence of excess of male sex hormones), and anovulation, which causes a woman to stop ovulating, rendering her infertile. Many women who suffer from PCOS are also obese. Recent studies have indicated that women who are significantly overweight may achieve improvement with PCOS through the significant weight loss that bariatric surgery can bring. Below we discuss the role of weight loss surgery as a potential tool to assist patients with PCOS. The Connection Between PCOS and Excess Weight Almost 60% of women with PCOS are obese. Many women with PCOS are also insulin resistant and/or have a reduced glucose tolerance. When someone is insulin resistant, their body does not use its insulin effectively to store glucose in the body as fuel. Too much glucose is the system slows the breakdown of fat in the body and creates new fat cells. This is why someone who is insulin resistant tends to gain weight. The problem worsens when the insulant resistant person’s body makes more insulin, trying to compensate for the inefficiency. This increase in supply only makes the body more insulin resistant. It is estimated that over half of women with PCOS are resistant to insulin and eventually will develop metabolic syndrome, a cluster of serious metabolic conditions (high blood sugar, high HDL cholesterol, high triglyceride levels, abdominal obesity, and high blood pressure) that increase risk for coronary artery disease, stroke, diabetes, and heart disease. Since bariatric surgery treats weight gain and obesity, it can have a positive effect on the metabolic processes – including how the body metabolizes insulin. This in turn may be able to treat the symptoms of PCOS that relate to problems processing sugar, such as weight gain. This relationship may explain why weight loss surgery seems to affect PCOS symptoms. Studies Show Bariatric Surgery Can Help PCOS Research has shown that weight loss surgery can reverse the conditions associated with metabolic syndrome (such as high blood pressure, high blood sugar, etc.) or prevent them from occurring. Additionally, scientific studies have shown a positive connection between bariatric surgeries and relief from PCOS symptoms. The basis of these assertions is the relationship between PCOS and obesity. One study of 33 women with PCOS who underwent weight loss surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation found that bariatric surgery resolved many key characteristics of PCOS, including enlarged ovaries and excess androgen. The study concluded that women should consider weight loss surgery as an extreme remedy for PCOS. Still, the women with PCOS who did undergo bariatric surgery did report positive effects on their symptoms. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. What does your optifast diet consist of? I just bought a ton of different protein shakes from Bariatric Pal and a variety pack of broths and those broth sticks then some calcium citrate. I swear I can't find citrate calcium in stores its always the other one (I cant think of the name off the top of my head). I grabbed some protein shakes from the store the other day to try them. Premier Protein everyone talks about them. I liked the Akins ones but they only have 15g of protein rather then the Premier it has 30g so that's a no brainer. My surgeon didn't tell me to start anything yet, but I wanted to have it all ready for the 2wk pre surgery diet. I see him the 12th of July I assume that's when he will tell me to start it.
  21. I was torn between that... having a food funeral like some of yall and just eating, but then thinking that it might hinder me in the long run because its gonna be a cold Turkey quit. Do yall who did that feel like it hindered you at all? I'm definitely going to cut out sugary drinks and caffeine because I don't wanna suffer those headaches while trying to recover. But cutting out sweets, breads, pastas wasn't sure when I should stop those. Seems like most stopped well before. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Good to know! I will start cutting everything out. I only have a few soda's left so once they are done that's it and I'll switch to my unsweetened tea to curb the headaches then decaf unsweetened tea if I want something other then water. I know sugar is going to be hard to cut out, but I know it's just something I have to do. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I got breast implants 700ccs (its a large implant most women stay in the 300-500 range) and 3 months later I found out I was pregnant. This was 9 years ago and instead of them having the fake look (when you can totally tell a women had them done) they now have a natural look which after having children that's what I prefer. They never got saggy like a lot of women who don't have implants after pregnancy. Then 5 years later I had another child and still no complications. They still look great and I can still wear a tshirt with no bra and people still think I have a bra on lol. My sister waited to have all her children then got implants and then decided 8 years later to have one last child. She breastfed and hers still stayed perky and no sagging either. So I would say if you want them really bad and you don't want to wait then go for it. But if it was something like a tummy tuck then I would tell you to wait for after kids.
  24. I have searched this website and a lot of others about Tricare. I have my appointment for BAMC's Bariatric Clinic here in TX and its a self referral so I didn't need to go to my PCM for a referral. But from what I gather once you get the referral from Tricare it will allow you to see the doctor, but its not the approval for the surgery because the doctor has to make sure you're a candidate for the surgery. Tricare has a lot of rules you have to meet before they will approve the surgery. So if you have a military base that does the surgery near you it would be best to go with them since they don't have to follow the Tricare guide lines to the T and its an easier approval. The guide lines are mostly for civilian doctors is what the Tricare Rep told me when I called. Good Luck!
