    Aversion to smells

Just wondering. Do you still have your gallbladder? I had mine out 23 years ago. Before I did anytime that I smelled fat cooking would make me nauseous and bring on an attack. I too have had the stronger sense of smell post op. Although it was already strong preop.

    Cook Books? Best Recipe Sites?

Take a look at bariatric foodie and also the one with the ricotta bake lol be right back with the name. world according to eggface has great recipes for every stage
  4. I used premier after my sleeve surgery but find my stomach won’t tolerate them after my recent revision to bypass. I highly recommend trying these samples. https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/syntrax-nectar-protein-powder-trial-sizes-17-flavors-to-choose-from?vec=eyJ2ZVRwIjoiRk9SVU0iLCJ2clRwIjoiTU9TVF9QT1BVTEFSIiwidnJJcCI6IjEifQ%3D%3D my favorite is the chocolate truffle and I tolerate them very well. I would be Leary of a one per day vitamin. Iron and calcium will counteract each other in certain doses. Also check with your team as they may require you to start on chewables. I take the bariatric fusion. Bottle says take 4 per day but my dr assures me that if I take two twice per day I will get the same results. I like that I don’t need any extra d3, iron or calcium with these. good luck!

    The days after surgery

I learned how to do the log roll to get out of bed when I had back surgery. You literally keep your body straight and roll to your good side. Use the opposite arm to push yourself up to a sitting position. This stuck with me for many years and is how I always get up from a laying down position now.

    How long does surgery take?

Right. I agree. Also the hernia was much larger than expected. My dr saw it from egd and thought it was small. He ended up needing to do a repair with mesh.

    Thermage anyone?

Hmmm I do see this recent review on Amazon I Think These Reviewers Are Imagining Things People are saying they saw changes after a week, posting before and afters that literally look exactly alike - giving rave reviews? Something is off. They are either suffering from confirmation bias or the reviews are fake. First, I've seen this same product marketed as a cellulite reducer, skin whitener, and skin tightener. Sounds sketch. The instructions are weird and incomplete. There are three settings and three options for the length of time to use it: 10 min, 20 min, and 30 min. The manual says not to use the machine more than 3-4 times a week. But it doesn't say on which setting or for how long. So if you use it for 30 minutes on the highest setting is that the same as using it on the lowest setting for 10 minutes? Who knows. They don't explain. I tube of gel comes with the machine, but it has maybe four words in English, the rest in Chinese, so I have no idea what those instructions are, nor the ingredients, but my face and neck broke out in a papular rash for three days. Still, I stayed the course. Not an iota of difference. I'm not at all impressed. This is just snake oil. Not only that, but I found it on another site for $80, hundreds less than I paid. I'll be returning it. 13 people found this helpful i will be watching to see how it all turns out.

    Stomach Pain Question

Wow. This surprises me. I take the same vitamins only difference is that I take two in the morning and two at night. My dr said lots of studies have shown taking two and two is just as effective. never had any stomach issues at all using them plus they taste great!

    How long does surgery take?

My rny was done robotically and I had a lot of scar tissue that had to be removed. Neither surgery included recovery as my family was able to watch on a screen in the waiting room showing exactly when I was in surgery and then moved to recovery. You could ask your surgeon what his/her average time is for the surgery to get a better idea.

    How long does surgery take?

Sleeve surgery normally takes 2.5 to 3 hours is what my surgeon told me. My sleeve surgery took 3.5 hours. I just got revised to bypass. That was expected to take 4 hours but actually took 5.5 hours. It also included a hernia repair.

Help! Before I gain it all back...

I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter. I can definitely relate to what you went through. I lost my 59 yo middle sister just a few months before my sleeve surgery. Dr suggested holding off but I chose to move forward. I did well for about 6 months when we made a big move. Shortly after our move, I had to go and stat with my mom as she was put under home hospice care. Last thing I cared about was my eating or my weight as I went through all of this. I had lost 73 pounds during my first six months but it stopped there. I gained back about 15 pounds over the next year. I really struggled trying to get back on track. About 6 months ago I developed gerd and found out that I had a large hiatal hernia. I ended up needing to revise to a bypass. I am now 7 weeks out and am determined to stay on track. I must find alternative ways to deal with things in life other than emotional eating to be successful and remain that way. I posted to offer my support and also to let you know that you are not alone.
  15. Darn. Yeah I would be concerned if it were me.

    60 years old

I am 57 and had sleeve last year. Revision to bypass this year. Plenty of people here your age and much older that have done well. Good luck!
  18. Could it be tonsils or adenoids? I would definitely be seen by a dr if I had this issue.

    Happening so fast

Nothing to it. Piece of cake. You will be sound asleep and not know or remember a thing. Don’t even stress about it.

    Sleeve ba. bypass

That was me. I had zero reflux before my sleeve plus I am confident that the sleeve caused my hernia. I have seen plenty of people that are very successful with the sleeve and have had no issues. Hard decision for sure.

    Hospital Bag

I just got two hospital gowns. If you wear one backwards it makes an excellent robe and no exposure. I ended up having surgery twice. Only stayed one night in hospital so I basically only needed a few things. good luck!
  22. Losingit2018

    Sleeve ba. bypass

How is it less invasive? With bypass things are rerouted. Nothing is removed. With sleeve 80% of the stomach is removed. i had a hard time deciding too back in 2017. I went with the sleeve but almost changed my mind to bypass right up until surgery day. Mid 2019 I got pretty severe gerd and hiatal hernia. Had to revise to bypass. My only regret is that I did not choose the bypass and ended up having to do the surgery twice. you are the only one that can decide what is right for you. Do your research and make the best decision for you. Good luck!

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

Hey guys. I am a slow loser as well. I was just reading this article the other day and thought that you all may like to read it. Written by an actual dr and not a random person in a forum https://sponsored.journalscene.com/roper-st-francis/weighing-in-on-weight-loss/ just one of the interesting facts this dr talks about Dr. Cleek points out that genetics are responsible for 50 to 70 percent of a person's weight, but other factors contribute to what your bathroom scale tells you each morning. For example, if you don't get enough sleep, your metabolism decreases and your appetite increases.

I actually prefer not to die

Haha. You will live. At least long enough to address those goals.

I actually prefer not to die

Nothing at all wrong with having a will at any point in life. there is also nothing at all wrong with asking your surgeon if he had plenty of sleep before the morning of your surgery. I did this and my surgeon replied, yeah. I am good. Seriously do this. It will set your mind at ease. wls is very safe with very low complication rate. Make a list and next time you see your surgeon ask him any questions you can think of. Like what his complication rate is. this is perfectly normal stuff to ask and will set your mind at ease. good luck!!
