Here is a good reference that I like to use -
You don't need to follow his dietary guidelines, but I do find that his progression on meal volume over time is consistent with my experience. In short, some increase in volume capacity is to be expected and is normal. Call it stretching, adaptive growth (the body will adapt to the changes that surgery has imposed upon it, like it or not) or a more varied diet that includes more slippery foods that move through rather than stay in the stomach, or more likely, a combination of all three.
On the volume vs. weight issue - a basic physics lesson to start with. When measuring Water, an ounce of volume weighs an ounce - that is a definition and is the basis of our measurement system (similarly, a ml or cc of water weighs a gram in the metric/SI system. Most of our food is mostly water (as indeed, we are,) so on average, an ounce of food by volume will weigh about an ounce, give or take maybe 20%, and over the different components of a meal meat, fruit, veg, starch, etc. - should about average out to about one for one.
Another consideration is that the important thing to your stomach is what the volume is when it hits your stomach, not when you put it into your mouth before you chew it and soak it in saliva. Once that is done, you have a blob (bolus) hitting your stomach that will be about, wait for it..... and ounce of volume that weighs about an ounce. This really saves you from agonizing over how to measure a cup of spinach - how big a leaf, chopped or whole leaf, how finely chopped, how densely packed into the cup...?
Dr Weiner in the video above notes that we ultimately, on average, will be able to consume in a meal about half of what we could before surgery which is consistent with my experience ten years out, and in looking at others whom we dine with in our support group (pre Covid) who are all in the 10-20 year out range, and most every one is taking something home or leaving it on their plate, so some increased volume is normal. The tricky part is keeping your caloric intake steady as this volume increases over time - you still need to keep it at 1200,1500, 2000 calories - whatever level keeps your weight stable.

We’re doing OOTD mishaps now! Great because I got paint on my favorite leggings. Luckily I only wear them indoors so I can just ignore it 😂

I’m following this because I’m going to need it in a month or 2, the idea of maintenance scares me.

I also cut my hair off on my sons birthday, just needed a change to get me through it. I took 7 inches off. It looks much better now that I learned to style it.

    OOTD: hair Edition!
A milestone of sorts today...2 years after cutting off my hair into a pixie, my hair is finally long enough to all be put in a bun! Well, two buns...its not quite long enough to put in just one, lol.
Buns were my hairstyle of choice when I had long hair, and the bun "donuts" where my fave bun accessory.
I realize I look like an anime character, but whatevs, my hair is in a bun(s)!

I am incredibly restless and antsy today. I think its because the sun is shining but its still too cold to hang out outside and I'm ACHING for summer to arrive. That and I have had like ZERO real exercise/activity in the past week cuz of a sore toe.
Sooo...decided to GET DRESSED. lol. Put on a pair of jeans (first time in weeks), did my hair and makeup (first time since xmas), even shaved my legs (first time since summer!). Put on a tube top to feel summer-y, but i got too cold soon after this pic and put on socks and a sweatshirt. Sigh.
The Kid when she saw me come out of my room in this outfit : "My, you look skanky today. I like it." She cracks me up. ❤️😂
Left pic: one of my stay-at-home-pandemic-uniforms.
    Right pic: Skankified.

I ordered a new dress today. (I LOVE Boden US) I think they read my algorithm and designed this dress for me. Unfortunately, that is not a picture of me. 😂

I haven’t put on an “outfit “ in so long! I do force myself to wear real clothes vs. loungewear everyday. I’m the type of person that tends to relax, or let up if I get too comfortable. It’s harder for me to detect a small gain with big stretchy pants.

I realized that even if I wanted to post a picture it would pretty much be a repeat of last year, which is something I’m really excited about. It’s so nice to not have a myriad of sizes stuffed in my closet that I hope fit or I hope will fit down the road.

I’m so ready for winter to be over. Everyone looks fantastic!

Ok, so I've technically been in maintenance for 1.5 years now. Not counting the first 2 months immediately after stopping weight loss phase (when I lost 12 lbs trying to find my sweet spot), I have basically maintained my current weight +/- 5 lbs the entire time.
I have loosened the reins quite a bit since weight loss days.
Fruit: I am not a big fruit eater, but if presented with something that looks good, I'll eat it. I don't have any off limit fruits, but I don't eat much in the first place anyway...mostly just as a topping on a salad. I hate fruit juice. Oh, but I LOOOOVE avocados, which I probably have 1-2 times a week (again, mostly as a topping on a salad)
Vegetables: I eat all sorts of veggies all the time/every day...with the exception of potatoes.
Refined Sugar: I long ago opened the floodgates to sugar consumption. Dessert is a legitimate food group for me.
Other processed carbs: I still stay away from rice, Pasta, and bread. HOWEVER, I recently discovered the joy of homemade bread making, and have actually had maybe the equivalent of 2 slices of bread this past week or so. Since it was so delicious, I'm going to keep eating it.
I still log my food, but I no longer put as much concern on the type of calorie I consume (to a certain extent), I mostly really only pay attention to my total calories now. So if I eat a cookie or a carrot or some of the ridiculously yummy homemade bread, so long as I stay under 1800 cals (more if I'm exercising more), then it's all good.
I will say though, that I gained and lost 6 lbs TWICE this year...and when I was trying to lose, I did pay attention to the type of calorie. Once I reached my happy place again, I am back to just monitoring total calories.
