    Hungry after gastric sleeve?

I had the bypass and I do feel hungry lots of times. Even after surgery I was hungry a lot! I never had any growling or gurgling so I don't know about that but I know I was hungry. I know some people say they lost their appetite after surgery but I can't help but wonder if they really did or if they just always had a smaller appetite than others. Anyway, good luck!

    Figs

Figs are pretty soft so I think so... I have no idea though. I'm just guessing

    Ice cream

I'm not a huge ice cream fan but when I crave it I'll eat some halo top (I always keep some in the freezer). I don't like to restrict myself too much on certain foods because then I'll overeat something else to try to compensate for the disappointment. Lol my logic might be weird but it works for me.

    This picture shocked me

I feel you! I sometimes pass by the mirror and have to do a double take! It's so weird! Congrats on your success!!! ❤️
  5. You both look great! Congrats!!! ❤️

    NSV

LOL I subtracted 88 on mine 🤦‍♀️ I went to get my license with all of my friends and I was a little embarrassed to write my actual weight on the application in front of all of them. Oh well. I'm hoping to get to that weight soon!

    Weak Voice

I've felt a small change in my voice but nothing like what you've mentioned. I think that when you lose a lot of weight your vocal system could become more fragile and maybe that's what you're experiencing. I still think you should maybe talk to your PCP about it just to make sure it's not anything else.

    Stomach cramping

^^ YES. Sugar free jello felt horrible!!!! Everything else too to be honest. Just make sure you're taking very small sips and leave some time in between them. That's what I had to do for everything. Even now if I drink a big gulp of water my stomach hurts. Good luck! ❤️

    Vomiting blood

I was told I might have blood in my stool after surgery but they never said anything about vomiting blood. I agree with @FluffySaysForkIt! you should definitely press your doctor till he gives you a satisfying explanation! Don't be afraid to seem annoying ( I used to always feel this way so I wouldn't ask as many questions ). It's your doctors job to tell you whats happening to you!

Changed from Sleeve to RNY Bypass

I think you'd have to take vitamins with the sleeve as well. I might be wrong but that's what I've always heard. I started off wanting the bypass. I knew it was more complex but to me surgery is surgery so if i'm already going to have one it might as well be the one I felt was right for me. I still stand with my decision to have the bypass so no regrets here! I too was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up with the vitamins. I never could before. But I think just knowing how serious this is and that I HAD to take them made me stay on top of them. I also downloaded an app called Medisafe and it's honestly so great it always reminds me when to take them so I never forget! Good luck! ❤️

So what are you unable to eat now?

I can't tolerate bread and anything with fat in it. I ate two bites of a grilled chicken wing the other day and went straight to the bathroom to vomit. I felt like hell for hours. Bread makes me extremely uncomfortable for about 30-45 minutes after eating it but eventually goes away. I had halo top ice cream and had no problems with it at all. I guess it just depends on each person. Good luck!! ❤️

Scary but kinda hilarious dream I had last night

    LOL that is funny! 😂
  15. Honestly if I were you I'd go on with the surgery and try to use their bad (maybe not bad but difficult) experiences as a lesson. Now you know if you were to have the surgery done you would have to keep up with your iron supplements and monitor your levels! And you also know that to be successful after surgery you would have to learn how to change your lifestyle! These are great pieces of advice, I think. I'm only about five months out and I haven't had any problems yet. I hope I never do. But I'm still always asking others about their experiences so I could know what to do and what to avoid. I don't regret my surgery at all I think it's the best thing I could've done for myself. I actually wish I had done it a lot earlier but at least I finally did get it. You sound like you've been determined to have it done for the past few years. If you really want it I think you can definitely make it work for you! These are just my opinions. It's up to you! ❤️

    I met my goal!

YAY!! CONGRATS! ❤️ You look great!!
  17. Yeah definitely! I already went down a shoe size so that's great! Good Luck!!!
  18. Hello! I hope everyone's doing well! So I've been trying to set some goals for myself (weight wise) and I'm unsure on how to predict weight loss in the future. Will weight loss start to slow down the more you lose it? Logic is telling me yes but for me it hasn't so far so i'm thinking that that might not be the case. I've been losing pretty much the exact amount of weight every month for 4 months now. (I had surgery about 5 months ago) Even though I've dropped so much weight I'm still losing the same amount every month. So should I expect to keep losing the same amount or should I expect a decrease? I don't want to underestimate too much and end up setting an easily achieved goal (I think if I reached it early I'd feel like it was too easy and stop trying as hard). I want something that'll push me but also be more realistic. I know you lose the most weight your first year after surgery, the "honeymoon" phase, so the goal I want to set is still within the year. I had surgery in April and the goal date I want to set is New Year's Day. So I'll be about 9 months out. Has anyone experienced weight loss slowing down the more you lose weight? Or has it been consistent? For people that have reached their goal weight, did it get harder to lose it the closer you got?

How much food should I be eating?

Yup. I was told 1/8 to 1/4 cup was recommended. I was eating 1/4 though. I wouldn't worry about the stalls. I stalled SO much at first. It eventually worked itself out. If it doesnt in a week or two try to switch up your food a little. That's what I do and it works. But a few weeks after surgery I was stalling like crazy so don't worry!

    Stage 3

Congrats! I think the first thing I had was tuna. I kept eating tuna for so long lol. Great source of protein. Good luck!
  21. Hey! I just want to say that I recently tried the lettuce wrapped chicken tacos on the skinnylicious menu at the Cheesecake Factory and oh my god!! They are AMAZING! 250 calories for 3 tacos and they taste SOOOO good. I've already gone 4 times this week just for them! That's all I wanna say, thanks for hearing me out!
  22. I've only told a few close friends and my mom. My mom however, told her whole side of the family after I asked or not to. I wish I could've kept it from her from the beginning but we live together so it was pretty impossible. She told my (very critical and straight up horrible) aunt. I've been avoiding her at all costs ever since LOL. I just don't want to hear what she has to say. It bothers me enough that she even has the satisfaction of knowing. As to other people, I agree with catwoman7. I tell them everything I'm doing (low carb, high protein, low sugar, low calorie) without telling them about the surgery part. I already know that they don't need the surgery and won't do it so they don't really need to know. Like AZhiker said, if someone obese that I felt were really at rock bottom and actually asking me for advice then I'd tell them. Other than that it's none of anyones business.
  23. Hey! I don't have any before and after pics to post right now but I wanted to say that almost everyone has to have all those requirements done and they probably seem like such a pain and SO far away but I promise the time will go by super fast and after surgery this will all feel like a weird previous life you can't even remember anymore. Don't lose hope and know that it'll eventually happen and when it does it'll be great!! Good luck!!! ❤️

    No restriction?

Hey! Congrats on getting through surgery! I was feeling the same exact thing when I had mine. I even think I posted on here asking if something was wrong with me lol It'll take you a while to start to feel satiety. Maybe even a few months. Even then, you never want to reach the point where you actually feel full. Start getting used to stop eating when your 1/2 cup is done. Right now 1/2 a cup might look like a really small amount to you so you feel like you should/could eat more but once you get used to that being your maximum limit, your stomach will get the memo as well and you'll start to kinda feel when it's enough for you. At least that's what's happening to me. Just don't forget to ALWAYS measure everything! In cups and not using a scale. I started out weighing everything on a scale and only after a while did I realize how different it was from a measuring cup and how much I was overeating! I also do think your doctors guidelines are pretty different from a lot of others. At two weeks I was told to eat 1/8-1/4 cup of soft foods. When I got to being a month out I started my solid regular diet at 1/2 cup. I guess doctors are different and in the end they probably know what's better for you. But right now don't expect to feel full anytime soon and don't try to get there! I remember being hungry ALL the time and I felt like I could probably eat like I used to without even feeling the difference in restriction. I would make myself leave the house and drive around just so that I'd forget about the hunger. Eventually I got used to how little I eat and I don't feel so horrible anymore! Yay! So don't worry it's normal and you're not alone! Good luck! ❤️
