I beg to differ, I think YOU are changing you life! Regardless, thanks for sharing! The first week is the toughest in regards to discomfort, but then it’s smooth sailing! I found that for me the biggest challenge is taking small sips and bites of everything that goes in your mouth. It’s just a matter of getting used to. I don’t regret a thing, this surgery is changing my life.

I've heard the first week or so is super hard. I really believe you can do this! Hold on, and stay in there! From what people have said it's going to be worth it in the long run. I havent have wls yet, I'm due in may....but I've had 6 ankle surgeries from a break when I was 10...still have issues with it. I get the no sleep, on top of the wrenching pains. I hope it gets better for you!My experience has been quite the opposite of what I was thinking would happen. I was sleeved March 11 and as of this moment in time I am feeling very regretful of my decision to do this. The pain was absolutely horrible. I have slightly managed to get my pain under control, but I only sleep like 2 hours at a time because I am so uncomfortable. Drinking my meals when I am starving is so hard. Compared to most other people on this site, I have a lot of negative feelings about this surgery.

Thanks, I'll look into them!I recommend books about "normal eating" or "intuitive eating". These books usually deal with emotional eating quite a lot.
Different strategies work for different people.

People talk about having no appetite after surgery, so the diet is easier. How are some ways you guys combat emotional eating? This is one thing I worry about. So far I've been doing really well, I'll go draw, or take a walk. I've lost 50lbs since october 2018, and I'm now sitting at 310lbs. I'm doing well, in my eyes, but I would still like to know more ways I can combat this problem.

Thank you for sharing! I really appreciate hearing people experiences. I wish you luck on the rest of your journey! Your doing great!I think everyone is different. Reading all these stories, I certainly have been having a radically different experience from others! I ended up in the hospital for four days because I had an internal bleed and lost a lot of blood. But I didn't take any narcotics on the last day in the hospital or at all when I got home. And only needed Tylenol for like two days. I have not had any nausea or vomiting, very minimal pain, no dumping syndrome, nothing. I also have no appetite so the diet has been fine.
I had super low energy for about a week and a half, but as soon as I got home from the hospital my mom made me start walking. First three days home I walked 3 times 10 minutes, but then she made me do 8 times 10 minutes every day after. Only one or twice was I not able to make it.
I'm feeling a bit shakey and still not 100% on my energy levels and I'm almost 3 weeks post now. But other than that I am super grateful as to how good my recovery has been. All my complications happened in the hospital and it's been smooth sailing since. So know that it's possible!!

I can see your point of view summer set. I have told a few close people I am having WLS just because I need support. I'm sure once I gain more confidence I will tell more people if they ask me, and i trust them, as my weight issues started when I was 2, and I'm now 21. People will surely notice. I guess I just need to build my confidence, and learn that in a way, telling I can try to break so negative stigma, by explaining that it's a tool, and how hard you have to work. For now, I'd rather keep it a secret, as I'm scared I will fail, like every other time. I have hope. I just need to believe in myself more....but as FluffyChix said...to each their own.

Thank you!! I really do appreciate it. I was hesitant on joining a support forum, but glad I did...I hope you surgery goes well! I can wait to see your progress!Yeah, I'm with you! My surgery is on March 27th, and it is a big deal!! Ive also had a lot of surgeries in my life. Im sorry your last surgery was so complicated. Believe it or not, bariatric surgery is really, really safe these days, and surgons do a lot of them. Nonetheless it is natural to worry a little bit. I really think all will go great for you. You've got this!!

Thank you for your kind words!!! I am confident I can handle the changes, I'm mainly scared of the procedure its self. My last surgery in August had major complications, I almost died and had to stay in the hospital, for what was supose to be an outpatient op. I found out in october of 2018 my thyroid was bad, and got on meds, have since with help of my bariatric team have lost 50lbs. I'm at 310lbs now. I guess I'm just having a little PTSD.

That is one thing I'm most scared about going into surgery. You are very inspirational, and I'm sure you look awesome lol. Thanks for sharing, I feel not so alone on wanting to hide the fact I'm choosing surgery, due to the bad wrap it gets.

Thank you for your input!I am 67 and had no problems. Gas pain from surgery, and low energy for a couple weeks is all. Just follow Dr instructions for pre op and post op.

I posted in the VSG surgery group, but thought I'd post here too. I am looking at a surgery date in May...very super scared. I've had 8 surgeries, I'm 21, but this one is the most nerve racking one yet. What should I expect? What should I bring with me? Any tips, help, support, and love are greatly appreciated.

I am looking at having VSG surgery in May of this year. I'm really nervous, and not really sure what to expect. I've have 8 surgeries in my life, I'm 21, so I'm not scared of surgery, just of this particular procedure. I'd appreciate any tips, advice, support, and help.
Preparing for surgery, very scared. Tips??
