I think you've definitely come to the right place. This cite is perfect for asking questions, getting support, and just plain ranting (in a positive way) to yourself out loud. Think of it as the Facebook for Bariatric support. The stories, support, and wealth of experiences here has truly been invaluable.
  4. It took me a good 10 days before I even felt human again. Even something ss simple as feeding the dogs was impossible. Getting their dogfood down and then leaning down to put it on the floor was too much. It took me a good 2 months to get totally back to my pre-op exercise routine. So give yourself a bit of a break and remember that everyone is different. The most important thing right now is to take care of yourself and relearn how your body works.

    Had Emergency Surgery Just Now

What do you need to put under your pillow to summon the Poo fairy? Cuz I would love to be able to do that.
  6. Since Im a teacher on summer vacation, I dont have much of set schedule for eating. In fact, it's only my dogs that have a regular eating time and that's only cuz they very loudly remind me. But to make sure that im keeping control over what I eat, I keep a food journal in a standard papper calendar. (It was this year's New Year's Resolution and probably the only one Ive ever kept.) Oddly enough I kinda liked the meal replacement shakes and have one for breakfast. I hate (am not very good at) cooking as well, but recently Ive gotten into omelettes which has become my go to meal. They are really perfect WLS meal. You can put any sort of protein in it and any veg you have handy as well. So by adding protein to eggs you get protein on protein. So far Ive used salmon for one and lamb sausages for another.
  7. There are portable water filters that you can bring as well. In fact some are built into water bottles. Check out the SurviMate Filtered Water Bottle for instance. I had to use something like that when I was in Russia a long time ago because the water wasnt potable at the time. (The bath part isnt so important at all.) Keep in mind also that you will need carbs and calories on this trip because of your energy expenditure. If you dont get enough of these, you will be really slow and may keep the other back. As for meal packets, if you are outside, there will most likely be a fire or portable backpacking stove. Im guessing that is how the group will both keep warm and eat some meals. The whole idea of making your own rations sounds really good though.
  8. Why not just take some protein powder and meal replacement powder (that you like ofc)? I know that this is something that I will always have with me when travelling on long trips (besides my vitamins of course). It shouldnt weigh that much and as long as you have access to clean water, you have your "meal" with you. Besides that, since it is powdered and isnt liquid, you can get through airport security with it in your hand luggage. I have a protein powder with no sugar added and no sweetener that I mix with various things like PB2 and instant coffee. That also is a good idea to bring with you. The rest of the group will love you if you bring coffee!
  9. Snarf. Giggle. I'm gonna have to steal that word. (Gawd Im such a kid...at heart.)
  10. OMG! I dreamt of cake!!

As of late, my dreams have been food obsessed. Last night I dreamed of gorging on good old American sheet cake with chocolate frosting. There was white frosting as well. Good thing we can't get that in Sweden! I just hope that I haven't become too engrossed in food. BUT they are only dreams after all.

  11. I am able to basically eat the same but have seemed to only stick to salmon and softer foods for some reason. I think it's just mostly taste at the moment.

    Medication

Same here. The only thing I did was cut the bigger ones in half. Ive never had any problems taking meds though.
  13. I just looked through all my old pants after my pre-op pants started getting to big. Keep in mind that I wear men's pants (usually cargos) because I am so tall 5'10"/5'11" ish. I also find that men's baggies tend to fit me better.

I started out at a 44 in waist pant and quickly found that I was back down to my 42's. So even when thise got to be too big, I had to start pulling old clothes out of storage. After finding my 38's, I thought that these would not yet fit, but when I tried them on, they fit perfectly. I also found some older pants that now fit better than I remembered. What a relief! It's not like I can pop down to the store like I could do in the US and the styles here in Sweden are all skinnt jeans which I cant stand. I also found some 36's, but I'm not mentally ready to try those on yet. The biggest challenge will be buying women's clothing again.

I had my Gastric Bypass reversed 😞

Ive tried looking up exactly where this is on the body, but couldnt quite figure this out so I'm guessing. I really only have the word posterior and the google search I get lead me to the pelvic region. So.... Does this mean that you officially are (hehe...oops I mean have) a pain in the butt? Jk
  15. If you look at the text that is hidden (show more) in the description you can see a list of "restaurants that are known to accept and accommodate our WLS card." https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/bariatric-patient-restaurant-special-menu-request-card

I dont pray much, but I will pray loudly and often that you dont get the gas pains after laproscopic surgery then!
  17. Ive been thinking about this thread for a while and thinking about what food triggers me to want to eat lots of it. (Sorry that it's not really what the original poster really meant by this phrase.) ..-and I finally came up with my real kryptonite. Although I love cheese, my real kryptonite is...duh duh duh...CARBS! I love carbs! I am addicted to carbs! Food like various breads and doughy treats are my absolute biggest trigger to overeating. In fact, I'm trying (a modified) Keto just to see if I can get some controll over them. Food addiction sucks!

I had my Gastric Bypass reversed 😞

Thanks for sharing this. Even if the surgery works for almost everyone, even the "failures" need to be talked about openly. Im looking forward to hearing about how things work out. Since it's not a common procedure, your experience will be interesting to hear about. Just another side of the bariatric journey.

    Had Emergency Surgery Just Now

You soooo funneh! Was it open surgery or laproscopic? On a side note: When i was in the hospital during surgery, there was another guy in my room who had had surgery for a twisted intestine. He was a healthy kid in college. So even if it's more common in bariatric patients, twisted gut still happens to normies.

    Bariatric Support

Yes, I had my surgery on May 27th and am back to a new "normal". Im still figuring out food, but seem to have a pouch of steel. The only "problems" that ive had (which arnt all that serious) was the damn laproscopic gas pains in my right shoulder post-surgery, my bladder not getting restarted until a week after the surgery, and me stupidly enough taking a double dose of vitamins. I really stand in wonder at how modern medicine works nowadays.
  21. aha..i have yet to figure this part out of post-op life. Didnt know cheese could stop you up.
  22. Have you tried to sous vide it? It changes the taste and makes it much easier to eat since it keeps all the juices in. A total game changer imho.
  23. Yeah, crazy amount might make me dump as well. I have been counting calories so I havnt had crazy amounts yet. But cheese (in moderation) has been my new chocolate. It's nice to be able to eat it in order to get protein.

    Bariatric Support

Im European based as well and even though my surgery has been covered by the public health care system, the information hasnt been quite as detailed as that from the States. But like many have already pointed out..this forum is great for support and filling in the blanks when we all have questions (or just want to rant about our bariatric life).
  25. Does that mean you cant have cheese?
