    I CANNOT Pee!

I got my catheter out today. Holding my fingers crossed hoping that I can pee on my own.
  3. I thought that the GBP would entail 5-6 entry points, but I only have 4. Does anyone else have that as well? Anyone know why?
  4. 3 kidneys? wow, ive never heard of that. how did that happen?
  5. Ive always heard that you should stop drinking after a certain time in the evening. Before I had a really small bladder. Do you think I should do that? or is it a problem now after GBP?
  6. Here in Sweden, we eat game meat more commonly than when I grew up in the States. I absolutlely love it! Reigndeer, elk/moose, and venison is amazing...So how does game meat compare to cow meat in terms of gastric bypass digestion? Anyone have any experiences? I would hate to miss out.

    Game meat vs Cow

How is lamb btw? I LOVE lamb! Giving prio to eating protein rich meats for the rest of my life is heaven.
  8. Ok, then how should I drinking before going to bed? Otherwise ill be having to pee several times a night.

    May 2019 support group

I know exactly how you feel. ive has to kick myself a couple of times with the same thought. Cutting calories after surgery is probably a no-no. We need just the same calories or not more as in the pre-op diet otherwise we are limiting our recovery. I see the first few weeks as just getting back to normal...so for me posting, "I lost x lbs directly after surgery" isn't a realistic result of wls but instead a bi-product of just plain old surgery. In fact, I wont be stepping on the scales anytime soon to avoid playing that game with myself.

    The dreaded gas

AMEN ..it's like having a charlie horse that absolutely won't go away. I started massaging my diaphram last night to be able to fall asleep and it seems to have helped a bit.

    GAS After surgery

I am still having pains as well when i lay down to go to bed at night. I tried massaging the diaphram a little and it seemed to help a bit. From what Ive pieced together, it comes from the phrenic nerve that goes from the diaphram to the shoulder that gets irritated by the gas. (its a common problem from laproscopic surgey.) The shoulder pain is killing me. Still, relaxing should help as well. I dont know if we can gently massage the abdomen area yet, but that also should move the gas around as well,

    The dreaded gas

Mine said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it and neither did the information about the surgery. It was a BIG surprise and really turns me off to laproscopic surgery. I had heard about bloat, but not about the massive pain on the right side and shoulder. Would like to kill my team over that.
  14. i hear u on the t-shirts (but mine are just plain). I look forward to when my husband cant wear mine. The only diff is that all mine are v-necks. (and then i wear a feminine scarf over them to not look like a total non-woman)

    May 2019 Surgeries 🎉

Good to hear you guys are doing great! Mine was on the 27th and I still have a catheter in...but I want it out soooo badly. ..and maybe a bit TMI but my bowels started again after 5 days. It was the blackest poo i've ever seen. Still having a bit of gas pain in the right shoulder when i go to bed at night, but when i walk around for a bit, it helps. Damn that phrenic nerve! So all in all, Im still feeling like a wuss.

    How many laproscopic holes?

Ok, if everyone else has 5 and I have 4...where did the last one go?

    How many laproscopic holes?

Thanks so much for posting your experiences. It really gives me a good perspective of this journey. Sorry to hear that the surgery didnt go as standard. We always hear about the successes, but it's the mistakes we learn the most from. So your post is very important. Thanks.

MrsGamgee, that sounds absolutely great! I am so jealous of your progress. Im just still trying to figure out how to get in some real calories and protein. At just 4 days out, water has been my prio which Im really good at. I just hope Im not OVERdrinking.

    I CANNOT Pee!

A quite funny thing happened a few moments ago...I was sitting at the breakfast table taking my meds and vitamins and put my overnight pee bag on the floor. Then one of my (smaller) dogs comes out from his sleeping place and uses it as a sleeping pillow. Uh oh...no no no no.

    Two days out

My surgeon gave me sooo many vitamins that it is almost impossible to take them during the day. My stomach basically isn't just that big. So instead I'm using what my nutritionist recommended and taking one pill (especially made for bariatric needs) four times a day instead. At least that one can be dissolved in water. The rest are horse pills.

    I CANNOT Pee!

The water hasn't really been a problem at all. I had a nasty (now quite helpful) habit of drinking water (albeit carbonated water...not POP!) all the time. So taking sips every once in a while seems really natural. My secret weapon has been a Munchkin 360 Thermos Sippy Cup. I love it! I've been keeping really watered down prune juice in it, and it tastes wonderful. (My husband was teasing me that you know you've become old when you start to turn to and like prune juice.) Still walking around with a catheter now though. Will be getting it out next week and hopefully my muscles will find out how to work then.

    Two days out

Hugs to all of you who are suffering at the same time as I am....and hugs to those of you who have been there for us on Bariatricpal. I am literally in tears because I am so grateful for having the chance to hear from you all about this stuff. Many many digital hugs for all of you.

    Two days out

Thanks for the words of encouragement. This time directly after surgery SUCKS! But from what I've heard, the worst of it (which is the gas trying to leave your body while ripping your shoulder and right side with it), is the same for any type of laproscopic surgery. The surgeon/doctor who figures out how to fix the whole gas problem deserves the Nobel Prize in Medicine!

    Two days out

I totally feel you. Mine was on Monday and i totally feel like a wuss compared to others. Chin up and we can do it.

    I CANNOT Pee!

Each time they did this, I was used as a training exercise. Im totally ok with that, but even had that feeling in the back of my mind.
