    I need a f*#+ing drink

Im just a bypass newbie and havnt had a drink yet, but I smelled a glass of rosé when my husband and friend were drinking. It smelled wonderful! I couldnt drink it, but the smell was enough. I think I'll have to start seeing if I can find some good alcohol-free wines. In other words...an adventure begins! PS. I tried coffee as well but it made my pouch really acidic.

How many calories do you eat a day?

I happened to find this study (2018) that was looking at exactly this question (but was comparing RNY and lapband 3 months out from surgery): https://www.oatext.com/pattern-of-calorie-and-macronutrient-intake-after-bariatric-surgery-in-patient-with-obesity-a-clinical-trial.php "After one month, patients educated to have 800-1000 low fat, protein-rich regular diet and allowed to increase their intake to 1000-1200 kilocalorie per day 3 months after surgery." They also mentioned that patients from other studies were not reaching the recommended protein intake. A really academic read but if you are into that kind of stuff, it's interesting.

    Pre-op and obsessed?

Good point. Glad to hear it's not just me who is normal and wondering. I still love the support here though and reading about others experiences. Even reading about the problems can help you prepare. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best!

    Pre-op and obsessed?

Or it could be like me where my pouch hasnt had ANY problems whatsoever to the point that im wondering if the surgeon made it big (he didnt). In fact, I had my first post-op checkup (6 weeks out) and asked all sorts of questions like, "is it normal to be so normal?" She kinda laughed at that. The only "mistake" I was making was taking double the amount of bariatric vitamins that I needed. The surgeon isnt as caught up as the dieticians on which vitamin cocktails are available now and I was taking both sets of vitamins. Oops. But yeah, I was (edit: still am) obsessed pre and post op and love watching 600 lb life too. Even if dont weigh anywhere near as much, it helped me see the challenges in a VERY obvious way in order to reflect on my own mindset. Being obsessed is really the only way to start. I even started trying to eat a bit in a bariatric way before the surgery (but with more volume of food) in order to see if I could do it. Preparation is key and it is never too early to test things out.
  6. True that. Bad examples then. Sorry. Gosh I feel horrible.
  7. Does anyone know how long it takes for water to pass through?
  8. Gosh Im getting worried. I havnt had any slimies etc other than feeling a bit off after eating a few times. Im starting to think I have a "pouch of steel".
  9. Try looking at a few celebrities who has WLS. It looks like they have aged etc. Try looking at Rosanne Bar and Drew Carey.

    DS Surgery date 7/23/2019!

Lapband surgery has the lowest success of all the WLS so dont beat yourself up too much. In fact many have to have revision surgery because of it. In Sweden, they are doing revisions all the time due to the complications from lapband. (Sweden has tons of research on WLS surgery which is used around the wolrd. Since it's covered by universal healthcare the (anonymous) information is used for studies all the time. Patients also have the chance to participate in studies.) So, I think DS will help you greatly. So chip up and go for it!

    May 2019 Surgeries 🎉

I feel the same way as you all. Still trying to figure out/relearn how to eat again. Not really back on normal normal foods yet. Ive still been sticking mainly to softer foods but that's more due to the fact that I really like yoghurt and watermelon. Ive been surprised how well my pouch has reacted and wonder if the surgeon didnt make it bigger than normal since im alrealy able to eat about less than a cup of food. (Although I keep it under a half a cup most times.) Dunno though. My first follow up is on Monday. The gas pains in my shoulder during the first 10 days after surgery was something I never want to feel again. I realize that laproscopic surgery is much safer etc, but that side effect is HORRIBLE!

How many calories do you eat a day?

This is what im more worrying about. It seems like my pouch can hold way more up to almost a cup already (6 weeks out). Is that normal?
  14. Dont know how to delete my post. Sorry.

How many calories do you eat a day?

My surgery was May 27th. Im eating about 500-800 calories and walk for about an hour 3 times a week. I really dont want to eat below that because I would put my body into starvation mode. Im still having problems getting my protein in and have been "filling out my calories" (eating high calorie stuff and a few carbs) on some days to make sure I get in even that much. I cant say that Ive been eating great, but im working towards it.
  16. Ive seen expiration dates on water before...ugh!

    Rumbling tummy

The same thing is happening to me as well. In fact, it's the stomach and not the pouch that likes to talk. That and the intestines say hi even more often than my lonely stomach. Ive never been so consious of where my stomach and internal organs are in all my life. In August I get back to my work as a teacher and hope it has calmed down by then. Otherwise I have to tell my students that it's my tummy rumbling and asking for food.

I love your cheeks when you took pictures from above. I think some models would die for that look. You look amazing!

Is this normal? 2 Days Post Op

I had my surgery done a little over a month ago and the first 10 days were hell. It gets better. Focus on water over everything else right now.
  21. Ive been looking more closely at how much I should be eating for each "meal" directly after surgery and Im wondering if Ive been eating too much. I really dont want to stretch my pouch unknowingly. So far after the first week, Ive been able to eat about a third to half a cup. There has been no throwing up and ive only had hiccups a few times. How can I tell if Im overeating when I cant really feel my pouch yet? What do you all think?
  22. I keep hearing about people spacing out the timing of certain vitamins. What is that about? My surgeon hasn't said anything about this. Can those of you who git information please tell me what your surgeon said? I want to be as effective with my vitamins as possible.

    50+

Ok, Im not over the 50 mark, but my husband is. Im just a bit younger than him at 48. Ive been thinking about getting help with my weight since about age 30 but had more important things to do. So only now was the right time. In addition to that, it seemed that doctors were reticent about operating on me since there were no other health issues. Now with my older years approaching, health care in Sweden has changed their minds and made it easier. So it's now covered for higher BMIs.

    When to take vitamins?

Ive also read that taking vitamin C and Iron together improve their effectiveness. Do any of you follow that one as well?
  25. I would suggest going to Cedar Point in that case!
