My surgery date is August 12!! I’m getting RNY and am seriously scared. Also excited, obviously. My liquid diet starts on July 29 and there are literally no solid foods allowed except sugar free Jello. I’m going to be honest I’m having a serious food funeral, not even trying to watch what I eat. I realize this probably isn’t the healthiest approach. 😳😳😳😳

Well this sounds terrifying. I had my gall bladder out almost 20 years ago and I don’t remember pain at all. I remember being sore, but no actual pain. The anesthesia made me throw up. But other then that I was up and walking around like an hour after surgery. I pray that means this will go as smoothly.

Ok so.... just wanted to post this. Our nutritionists say we can’t absorb more than 25 g of Protein in one sitting. Just wanted to throw that out there, but if you’re drinking that shake all day I’m sure it’s ok.

Soooooo.... I’m honestly nervous for the 2-week liquid diet. Can anyone who has been through it... did you still have energy? Could you make it through work days okay? I’m hoping that by the second week you just don’t want food anymore! 😂😂😂😳😭😭

LOL yes, you seriously look incredible!!
I can’t even fathom wearing a size 12. That would be amazing in itself! How long after surgery did you start to feel “normal” again? And how old are you? You don’t have to answer that if you don’t want. 😂. I’m 41. Just hoping I can bounce back from surgery now that I am not exactly young anymore.
Journaling is a good idea... I need to write down the reasons I’m doing this. So I can focus on THOSE and not all these complications that probably won’t even happen to me.

Just looking for some reassurance. I went in thinking I wanted a gastric sleeve, and my surgeon basically told me I wouldn’t lose the weight and I would gain it back. His recommendation is gastric bypass. I am petrified of the surgery, and long term implications or problems I could have as a result. I should be excited about the opportunity to change my life, but instead I am scared I won’t like what my life turns into. Would love to hear some long term success stories. Thanks in advance.

@AEdoesRnY I’m doing okay. I just had my psych evaluation today and it was fine. I have a few more appointments left before they can submit to insurance. I need to get moving on weight loss though. This week has been a bit of a disaster. My mom passed away quite suddenly on Sunday night, after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. I’ve pretty much thrown in the towel on trying to stay on the diet plan, which I know is NOT the right thing to do.

Thanks to you both! I definitely have educated myself... seriously, possibly overeducated myself? I start to get obsessive about researching all the possible worst case scenarios. Which kind of sucks the excitement out of making change like this. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It’s like I’m scared to see any positives.

That is so nice, thank you very much. Half of this is not having anyone to talk through it with. My family isn’t exactly supportive.... they’re not NOT supportive, though. If that makes sense.

So.... were you ok anxiety wise before and after the procedure? Have you been able to get excited?
