    Dating after Lapband

I think anyone you share the details of your life with should be with you for you! Not what you will be or used to be. They may not even notice or ask. You just share what you are comfortable with. If they aren't comfortable with it then that is a good sign to move on.
  2. I am anemic but I still had the surgery on the 17th. I have been anemic for most of my life. Not sure of the ulcer. I hope you get it done.

Ok, I am home now!!! It's official!!! I am a bandster. I want to write all about it, but due to the liquid Oxycodone I am on, it is challenging to think, much less type. So I will wait a day or two & share my story. But I do have to say I read somewhere on the site that Dr. Oh has no bedside manner, I have to disagree. He visited with me twice before I went into surgery & then again this morning before I came home. He was great!!!! Ok, later everyone, I am hitting the backspace button far too many times!! LOL :smile2:
  4. Even if you don't have to do 2 weeks of liquids, I recomend you do more than 1 day. I have a friend who had it like you & ended up with major diarhea afterwards. Sorry so gross. I haven't had it at all, I think b/c I eased into it even before the 2 weeks started. Not a secret here. There are quite a few ppl I know at church that had it done, so as soon as I started loosing weight they put 2 & 2 together. LOL This site has helped me a lot. I was very informed about surgery itself before I found this site, but I love the advise & encouragement. You will do great!!!! I am home today & besides my tummy being a little sore & well to be frank, HIGH from my liquid Oxycodone I am doing fine. :smile2:
  5. Ok, here it goes. I am leaving in 10 min for St. Francis Hosp in Federal Way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Oh man I would love some grilled chicken right now!! I am on day 3 of my pre-op 2 week clear liquid diet. I almost broke down & had some grilled chicken last night. I begged my hubby to go to the store & buy some (I was already in my PJ's). He was good & told me if I pushed through the craving I would be happier with myself. Then I rationalized about how I am only getting about 500 calories a day, & how could I lose weight if my body thinks it is starving???? So he said, well if you are going to cheat you should have to go with me to buy it. To that I said no thank you & went to sleep! I am glad I didn't do it! I woke up this morning & weighed & finally saw some weight loss. :tongue2:

That is strange. You have been on it for 2 weeks post band & 2 weeks pre-band I presume. Like I said I have been on it for 11 days now & I am not having any of those symptoms. Are you taking all of your vitamins? I went to Super Supplements yesterday & stocked up on some liquid ones that I hadn't been able to find at GNC. I must admit it is getting more expensive than they said it the informational lecture. They said $60 a month, that obviously didn't include the protein mix. I will have to tally my two receipts & figure for the ones that will last more than a month to get a true monthly total. But it is all worth it. I have already lost about 30 lbs since April 9th. :smile2:

First, sorry my spacebar isn't working. I-will-be-banded-with-him-on-Tuesday.-Have-been-on-that-diet-for-near-2-weeks-now.-Am-doing-well.-I-get-about-550-calories-a-day. Are-you-drinking-your-protein-drinks?--Supposed-to-be-90-grams-of-protein-per-day.
  12. I have been on my pre-op clear liquid diet for 10 days now, only 3 left!! (pre-op that is, I will still have it for 4 weeks post -op) It consists of: ~2-3 30gr ea protein drink (I put 4 ice cubes, 1 heaping scoop of the protein powder, 1 tsp of instant decaf & 4 oz of water into my Magic Bullet & let it blend till the ice is not rattling around. It makes it nice & smooth like a good frapucino!) ~64 oz of water ~chicken or strained soup broth ~sugar free jello ~Crystal Light or the like (I buy Wal-Mart brand singles to go, much cheaper) ~Diet Juice ~V-8 ~I can also have sugar free popsicles, but haven't yet. I have been losing anywhere from 1 - 2.5 lbs a day. My surgery is Tuesday!!!! I can hardly wait!!!!!!!

    Curious

So, I am just wondering if there are any of you out there shaped like me. I want to get a realistic understanding of the potential for my success. I am 5 foot 11 inches. I started out at 375 & am now at 335, so a weight anywhere in between would be good & I am female. Let me know how you have done so far. I will be banded on June 17th.

    Question

My Dr. said no lifting anything over 5 lbs for 6 weeks, including a purse. No excersize for 8 weeks. Walking is ok. And no intercourse for 6 weeks. Take it easy. Walk as you can. Keep hydrated & make sure you are getting enough protein. My Dr. says 90 grams a day, you have to work up to it. Don't rush it, you will do great!!!
  16. Hey there, I am Gina too! And I live in Washington, Puget Sound area. I have the GNC whey Isolate 28 I mix it in my Magic Bullet. I put in 4 ice cubes, 1 heaping scoop of powder, 1 rounded tsp of instant decaf & 4 oz of Water. I let it blend untill I can't hear the ice rattling around anymore. It tastes just like a frapucino!!!

Anyone get new insurance just for WLS?

I shopped for new insurance as soon as it was open enrollment with my husbands job. Our previous ins only covered 50%, which is good. But we couldn't afford that out of pocket. So now we have new ins that covers all of it except my office co-pay of $30 ea visit, $100 co-pay per surgeon, I have 2, $100 co-pay per night in hospital, & since they counted my EGD as a surgery I will have a $100 co-pay on that. So all in all I should have to pay $610.00 total. Plus someone in my life really blessed me & said if I would get a surgery date & go through with it that they would personaly pay $500 towards it!!! God is good & has worked out all of the details for me ahead of time!!
  19. Congrats!!!!!! I have lost abot 8 lbs in a week on my pre-op liquid diet. I have 6 days to go. Keep up the excellent work!!:tongue2:
  20. I too am on Clear liquids. Today is day 8 for me. I have been losing 1.5 lbs a day!! My date is June 17th. This is what I usually have everyday & lots of Water. Some days I have some clear Egg Drop Soup. The days I don't drink enough water my loss is less. My Dr. also has me on 9 different Vitamin suppliments. I have only been able to take 4 of them so far b/c I couldn't find the other 5 in the form that I need them. The first 3 days were the hardest. I was craving grilled chicken breast like no other. LOL!! But now I don't crave anything. The only challenge I have is the smells when I am cooking for my family. I have a hubby, & two boys, 6 & 8 yrs old. So I still have to cook. I also work from home. It's not all that bad. You can do it!!! Here is what I eat everyday. Breakfast:Slim Fast Low Carb Creamy chocolate, 1 serving190 calories Lunch:GNC Protein Drink, 1 serving140 calories (I blend it in my Magic Bullet with 4 ice cubes, 1 heaping scoop of Protein powder, 1 tsp instant decaf coffe & 4 oz of water. It tastes like a frapucinno!:tongue2:) Jello - Jolly Rancher sugar free Gel Snacks, 1 serving10 calories Dinner:GNC Protein Drink, 1 serving140 calories (blended same as above) V8, 5.5 oz30 calories 8 glasses of water daily. I have 16 oz glasses, so I do 2 before lunch & 2 after lunch if not more. CALORIE Total: 510
  21. You should check with your Dr. before you go that route. Plus you kind of need the drink to help keep you full, I am not sure a pill will do that for you. I am on day 8 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet & I found the first time I did my protein drink I about gagged too! Now I put 4-5 ice cubes, 1 heaping scoop of my protein powder, 1 rounded teaspoon of decaf instant coffe & 4 oz of water into my Magic Bullet & blend it untill there is no ice rattling around. It makes the perfect mock frapucino!!! I love them! :tongue2:
  22. I wish I had made this decision earlier. I am so excited, my date is next Tuesday the 17th!!! I too am on clear liquids. This is what I usually have everyday & lots of Water. The days I don't drink enough water my loss is less. My Dr. also has me on 9 different Vitamin suppliments. I have only been able to take 4 of them so far b/c I couldn't find the other 5 in the form that I need them. Breakfast:Slim Fast Low Carb Creamy chocolate, 1 serving190 calories Lunch:GNC Protein Drink, 1 serving140 calories Jello - Jolly Rancher sugar free Gel Snacks, 1 serving10 calories Dinner:GNC Protein Drink, 1 serving140 calories V8, 5.5 oz30 calories CALORIE Total: 510
  23. Aarial, I think if you eat around 1000-1200 a day, (healthy foods), & excersize moderately 3-5 days a week you could certainly come very close to goal. I have lost about 7 lbs in the past 4 days. Keep in mind I am on my pre op clear liquid diet though. And I consume about 80 grams of protein from my protein shakes. I have been taking many vitamin supplements & drinking at least 8 glasses of water most days. But I can only keep doing this for another 5 weeks or so. When I am 4 weeks post op I will start on mushy foods for a while, 2 weeks I am guessing & then to soft solids for a bit & then regular. So if you eat close to that regimen & drink your water & take your vitamins & excersize, YES I think you will come darn close!!!! Of course this is only my oppinion & we all have one. If you want a list of my supplements send me a private message. You could run them by your Dr. to see what he/she says. Best wishes to you. P.S. I am having my surgery 3 days before my 15 year anniversary. I told him it is the best gift I could have. I hope to be down by 100 lbs for my 16 year anniversary. You Go Girl!!!!
  24. I say Ditto what they all said!! I am a bit strange for the fact that anytime I have had surgery I always opted to stay the night. It is weird I know, but it is kinda like being pampered a bit. I have two small boys, so I take a break when I can. I know I am different! LOL
