Stuck on everything....
I would except my Dr. says I shouldn't be able to eat any more than a 1/4 cup at a time. If I have less restriction I can eat way more than that. I guess I am between a rock & a hard spot.

Stuck on everything....
Well almost. Lately all I have had is cottage cheese with canned peaches. Soup, not chunky stuff. Refried Beans thinned out with milk. Mashed potatoes...... Hmm, that's about it. It's getting old fast! Does anyone have any ideas of some foods to try that I won't puke up??? :huh2: I was banded on June 17, 2008. I have 8cc in a 14cc band. Thought I had a leak, b/c between my last 2 fills I was down 3.5 cc's. But they tested it & couldn't find one.

Has anyone experienced port sore after dinner?
Yeah that's it. I was banded June 17, 08 & I still have that pain 1 or 2 times a week.

I lost 51 Pounds
I was banded June 17th & have lost about 47lbs. I too feel that I should have lost more by now, but I had a fill yesterday & the Dr. was very encouraging & said I have done a great job. I am happy that I no longer carry around that 47lbs. And in truth I have come down 65lbs since my very highest..... so that is the number I track. Keep up the good work & remember every pound lost is a step in the right direction to a happier, healthier you!!!

St. Francis, Dr Oh and Dr. Hirai Group
Dr. Oh did my surgery on June 17th. Everything went fine. He & Dr. Hirai are friendly. The office staff has always been very nice too. Only warning I would give you is to make sure you give plenty of time for your fill appointments. I have had 3 of them & 2 of those I waited for an hour or more before getting the fill. They are very busy & book out about a month for fills. Follow your pre & post op diet to the T. I didn't have any problems pre-op, but I heard a few patients got their surgery post phoned because they didn't follow the pre-op diet & lose enough weight. I am sure you will do wonderful! When is your surgery???

Mississippi Federal BCBS and GEHA
When I went to the information meeting for the WLS clinic they gave me a packet of paperwork that asked those questions. I had to go 10 years back. But if you have been to the Dr.'s over the past 5 or so years there should be a weight note in each visit. They usually weigh you everytime you go in. That should be proof enough. Funny though, it seems now that I had the surgery my regular Dr. visits don't weigh anymore. :smile2:

Mississippi Federal BCBS and GEHA
Hello, I live in WA state & we switched last open season to BCBS Fed. Emp. Basic option. We called them before we made the switch & asked lots of questions. It seemed too good to be true. But it was true so we switched. Not sure if the coverage is the same for you but ours is.... $100 copay per surgeon (I had 2), & the EGD was considered a surgery too. $30 copay per specialty visit (it is considered a specialty, so that is the copay for every office visit including fills b/c they are a Weight Loss clinic where I go) my overnight was only a $40 copay b/c they didn't consider it an inpatient stay it was called a "short term stay" or something to that effect, but I was prepared for the $100 per night stay anyway so it was good. Hmmmm, and any difference in the labs & such that they have a cap on. So far I have paid $185.00 & my surgery was in June. Just call them & ask specific questions. Best wishes!

how many cc's for restriction 14cc
Ok, so I was banded on June 17 this year. I have a 14cc band. I just had my 2nd fill on Monday. I am up to about 6cc's. I have had absolutley NO RESTRICTION!!! However I think yesterday I felt for the first time what it is to have "something stuck". It didn't feel good at all. But it only lasted a short time & I was able to finish my meal. I do get fuller on less, but I think that has a lot to do with changing my eating habits in general. I am now eating "normal portions" for the most part. In fact now when I go for fast food I get a kids meal & am satisfied. But still haven't lost since surgery. I need to start working out. I know it's no excuse but I have been waiting for the kids to go back to school. Although I could take them on a walk with me, they are 6 & 8. Enough of my ranting. I am hoping to find my "sweet spot" at my next fill next month. Best wishes to all!

June 17th, Washington
I had to do all that stuff too. I heard GH makes you do 6 months of supervised diet a program. Well your day will be awesome. Where will you be having it done? What Dr.?

I am doing well. I had my 1st fill on Monday..... It was ok, no pain. But no restriction yet either. I heard there is a lot of hoops to jump through for Group Health..... was that the case for you?

Makeup During Procedure?
I don't know about your Dr. but I had to wash with anti-bacterial soap all over the mid section & couldn't even wear deodorant. Nothing at all! :crying: I was fine, as soon as I could maneuver I put some on.

Any one in NW WA
Hi all, I would like to attend meetings but can't do it on Thursdays. Are there meeting days in Kitsap county other than the Thursday ones in Gig Harbor??

Negative thoughts here...
I feel the same way. I thought maybe I stretched the pouch, or it didn't really work, or this one is great, the scars are just for looks, they didn't really put anything in me! I have had my first fill & I could eat pretty much the same amount as before. But I don't because it hurts my port area for some reason when I do. It is so hard to just have self control & eat such a small amount. I am fine with eating healthy. Don't get me wrong I eat things I shouldn't, but I am ok with eating healthy it is not a huge shock to my system. It is just the amount that gets me, b/c I am STILL HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I am glad I had it done though. I am hoping with another fill or two it will be more of the tool I expected. I have a 14cc band with 4.26cc in it.

Tomorrow marks my 2 wks mark since getting banded and let me tell you...
My Dr. puts everyone on 4 weeks post-op clear liquids!!! I must admit I didn't make it. Mostly because a week & a half out I volunteered at a kids camp for a week solid. But then again I am not really losing either. Soooooo....... stick to your Dr. orders!!! It's worth it.

2 fills and absolutely zero restriction
Almost the same for me. I had surgery June 17th, just had my 1st fill yesterday & have gained 4 lbs back. No restriction. However I did notice it takes less to "fill me up, eating". Esp yesterday after fill. I am on liquids for 2 days, which will be good for me. It was hard once I realized I had no restriction to impose the eating limits that I should. Esp with so many summer bbq's. But I know I can do it, it is all worth it. So back to liquids for me & ease back into mushies.

Exclusion Wording-Do I Have a Chance?
Yeah I am thinking you might want to shop around for other insurance or go self pay. It sounds like they don't want to have anything to do with it.

Worried???
Yeah I am not happy with my journey so far. Today I went in for my 1st fill & I am up 4lbs since surgery. My Dr. said at my 1 week post op appt that I probably wouldn't feel any restriction until about the 3rd fill. Not my idea of fun, but I am in it for the long haul. I need to be sure to eat as if I have restriction even though I don't. So I assume that is about 2oz at a time. Fun, fun, fun. LOL Ok enough for now. I hope everyone does awesome this week!!!! :scared2:

Port area pain after eating????
Hello, I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op & having lots of pain after eating. Also it feels like it is swollen or something, I was thinking originally that it is the scar tissue but it goes from large to small & back again throughout the week. It is weird, I didn't expect it. I don't have ANY restriction, but Dr. said that is normal. I go in for 1st fill on the 21st (can't wait). Has anyone else experienced this?

can anybody answer my question pls
I am not saying lie to her. But you were a bit....... your'e in front of a train that is going to hit you, run! Yes she might want to call her Dr. but since we aren't the Dr. don't freak out so much. She might feel like she totally blew it & really sabotage herself. Her Dr. might very well say, that was too many carbs, buckle down from here on out. A simple "You might want to call the Dr. & ask about it b/c of the carbs or salt......" would have been sufficient.

What DON'T they tell you?
Hi, I was banded on June 17 this year. I have not had less energy or hair loss. Did you & do you get enough Protein? My Dr. says three protien drinks a day at 30 grams each, for life. Plus a whole slew of supplements. I feel pretty good. Between the pre-op diet & now I have had a bit of weight loss & would have more, but haven't stuck to the post-op diet very well as I have no restriction yet. But I know that is my doing. The past two days I have done lots better & lost a pound. Keep up the good work! We all know that none of us would lose 45 pounds in a year otherwise.

can anybody answer my question pls
RESPECTFULLY............ Do you know how much salt is in broth?????????? Which is what we are SUPPOSED to consume on a liquid diet. It is a short term diet, she is not going to die nor should she call her Dr. ASAP. I know everyone is different, but really I don't think scaring people is nice. I was very concerned with the ammount of salt in my diet for a 6 week liquid diet..... my Dr. does more bariatric surgeries than anyone in my state, the facility is a Center of Excellence & he did not have any alarms going off about it. Let's all play nice.

Dating after Lapband
I think anyone you share the details of your life with should be with you for you! Not what you will be or used to be. They may not even notice or ask. You just share what you are comfortable with. If they aren't comfortable with it then that is a good sign to move on.

Anyone with Anemia or an Ulcer before the band?
I am anemic but I still had the surgery on the 17th. I have been anemic for most of my life. Not sure of the ulcer. I hope you get it done.

Any one in NW WA
Ok, I am home now!!! It's official!!! I am a bandster. I want to write all about it, but due to the liquid Oxycodone I am on, it is challenging to think, much less type. So I will wait a day or two & share my story. But I do have to say I read somewhere on the site that Dr. Oh has no bedside manner, I have to disagree. He visited with me twice before I went into surgery & then again this morning before I came home. He was great!!!! Ok, later everyone, I am hitting the backspace button far too many times!! LOL :smile2:
